Also with very low time, people will try to take one stock and then run away to win via timeout as a character that is hard to catch.

I don't play pokemon but i'm struggling to conceive of one better than a professional wrestler cat who hams it up for the audience after he body slams someone also yeah we have Lucario, Jigglypuff and Mewtwo. If it wasn't for Pokemon Yellow coming out after Pikachu was already the darling of the series, non-starters would be decidedly ahead of starters

A Samus in a mirror match bomb>tilted (the crescent kick) me on edge a lot and it felt like a student of another school teaching me his ancient art while I showed him my aerial arts instead. We both practiced the art of No Charge. He beat me out in the end but we both adapted the other and began to counter it and it felt really cool. My friends do not appreciate my new learnings
