I can feel your heart is closer to mine. Itsuki, I love you.

She did actually say 'I love you' in Japanese in a more straightforward way this time, unlike in the previous scenes.

I… also like you, Farun.

Reminder: I’m not rewriting Itsuki dialogue for these. He really does just say “like”. It’s not a choice thing either.

This is a common translation problem with English 'like' and 'love' not having perfect Japanese equivalents, and vice versa - in fact Farun uses the same 'like' word as Itsuki here though they translated the phrase differently so it sounded like something a person would actually say. Broadly, Arie earlier is saying the word like 'I love you and we should be together forever' and Itsuki here is saying 'I like you a lot and want us to be closer'.

Not a bad set of events but yeah I had the same concerns about Femiruna's 'you should abandon your family and everyone you know and come with me' setup.

Yeah, it's another reason why I think the idea of just dumping random parts of the script on different people is a bad way to translate something. Hell, even having somebody proofread this would catch a lot of these problems. It takes me about 30-40 minutes to record the Bonding Events. This game's script is not overwhelming, so it wouldn't take an insane amount of time for someone to speed through the events and take notes on changes.

But, I guess that's just the difference between a good localization and a bad localization. Same thing as a good dub and a bad dub (where people are just reading their lines without any idea of the context those lines are being used in).

Femiruna's situation is weird. We don't know a lot about her parents, but from what we do know they don't seem to be abusive or heartless monsters. They just seem to be business types/socialites that have skewed priorities in their lives. From what we hear from Femiruna, they do seem to genuinely enjoy hearing from their daughter about her experiences at the Academy. Basically, while they might be a little distant or bad at communicating with their child, there hasn't been any solid indications that they are bad people.

I could sort of get on board with the "Leave everything behind and come with me" idea if her parents were abusive shitheads that were essentially using their daughter like a tool. But that doesn't seem to be what's happening in this case. Like you said, Femiruna is being tempted to completely abandon her family and life to go with this random dude. That's not sweet or heartwarming.

I'm a little curious to know if all of the Maiden Endings involve them going back to Sora with Itsuki, or if there are any endings where Itsuki stays in Granvania. There are only a few Maidens that could leave Granvania behind and go with Itsuki and the ending would still be totally happy. Arie, Ruka, and Reone would likely be fine (Arie mentions that someone adopted her and raised her, but she never spoke of them after that first time so it doesn't seem like there's any strong connection there. Or they're dead). Mahiru would definitely be fine since her family is in Sora. Mirei and Lillith/Lillie are questionable, since they never mention anything about having a family or close friends (Mirei's grandfather is the only one that is mentioned, and he's deceased by this point). Yuzuha, Collette, Tarua, Femiruna, Farun, and Sue all have family or family-like ties to this world that would be weird for them to throw out for the sake of a boy.

BlazeEmblem posted:

Arie's bonding events always seem to be one or two events past where everyone else is. She told Itsuki she loved him halfway through her events, had her big revelation (her love of weapons) before everyone else, and now has basically married Itsuki when everyone is only now telling him they love him.

She's getting my vote just for how proactive she is.

I still really like Arie and her route. I'm not positive that I'll be giving her my vote for ending just yet, because I want to see some more of the side events first (we still haven't done Flower Viewing or Beach). Alfie has also been kind of a solid contender throughout the game, although the 10 year lifespan thing is kind of pushing me away from her because I don't like the idea of a bittersweet ending. Femiruna was making a lot of progress, but I'm left feeling a little disappointed by hers. I felt like Femiruna's route petered out near the end and we also didn't really get much of a conclusion to some of her other sub-plots (like wanting to make friends, or forming a closer relationship with her parents, or learning to act while taking into consideration the feelings of other people).

Right now, I think I'm split between Arie, Alfie, Mirei (I still like Mirei, even though her route didn't have any major standout moments), Reone (I felt like Reone's route really turned around in the last two Bonding Levels) and Farun. I'm going to open the ending vote after these events wrap up, but I probably won't actually cast a vote myself until we're staring down the Ophiuchus Labyrinth.

I'm almost certain Alfie's ending is going to circumvent the 10 year lifespan thing in some way.

Oh, no doubt. Same thing goes for Yuzuha. Some magical fantasy crap will come out of nowhere and fix everything I'm sure.

My main fear (namely for Alfie) is that the writers will have forgotten the shorter lifespan thing by the time her ending comes around. The writers need to address it and come up with something to explain it away in order for it to be canon, because if they don't (because they forgot about it for example) then the player can only assume that she dies 10 years later.

Basically, I'm mostly afraid Alfie will be condemned to die shortly after the game ends purely because of bad writing. Given this game's track record so far, it's not outside the realm of possibility. After all, it seems they forgot about the Maidens' "120-years of youth" deal.

Those were all pretty cute events. The only one I have a problem with is Femi's. For all she's talked about them, we never actually meet her parents let alone actually see them ingame. I feel her event would have been more poignant if we saw a confrontation between her and her parents regarding Femi's newfound appreciation for the world around her versus her father insisting she join high society.

Bonding Update XXI: Final Bonding Events (Part 2) – Virgo, Pisces, Scorpio

No CG for Mahiru, but I do remember her final event going on for a long loving time. Although maybe that was just because I don’t like her a lot. Let’s find out.

~Star God Academy Classroom~

Mahiru.

How’d you know? Did you use Star Energy?

It’s just my intuition. You came to ask me to walk home with you, right?

It helps when the guy is a simpleton.

Seems like it could even surpass Star Energy.

But you have a bunch of stuff with you today.

Oh, this? I took some of the ingredients from the cafeteria. So… I want to suggest something today. Will you hear me out?

Are you gonna cook for me?

So I’m right then? A man’s gut feeling can be pretty powerful too.

She just said that she borrowed a bunch of ingredients from the cafeteria. What the gently caress else was she going to do with them? Throw them at Narcisstes? …Because I would be on board for that.

But if you don’t want me to, you can tell me.

I told you before, didn’t I? I’ll taste-test your cooking any time you want.

Whew… That’s good.

I see some turnips, Granvania carrots, onions, and a flank of meat. So, considering the ingredients… You’re making curry, aren’t you?!

I wanted you to try a new dish today, so I practiced any chance I got.

Well, as long as there are none of those Golden Apples in there, then it’s fine. …Someone did tell you about the Golden Apples, right?

And… The dorm I’m at doesn’t allow boys to enter, so can I go to your room?

Sure, you’re more than welcome. I can’t wait to try it out.

*Fade to black here, although I’m pretty sure it’s just a scene change*

~Inn: Itsuki’s Room~

Itsuki, how many times have I come to your room now?

You’re here pretty often. You always come over to kick me awake.

How rude. I don’t kick you, I’m very gentle.

You jump on me every time.

I can’t imagine that he does.

Having your childhood friend wake you up in the morning is like a rom-com.

So is Alfie’s route, except Alfie’s route doesn’t have the lingering specter of incest.

Your room is always so clean, Itsuki.

I don’t own anything, and I only come back here to sleep.

But there should still be dust. Is someone else cleaning it for you?

No way. The only ones who come here are you and Mana.

And Alfie… and Yuzuha that one time.

What about the other Star Maidens?

They rarely stop by.

I see…

They don’t want to get eaten by someone hiding smut mags under their bed.

Oh, you’ve said it now. If you doubt me so much, then check under the bed.

I’d say go right ahead. Mirei probably already beat you to the punch somehow. She seems to have access to Itsuki’s porn stash, judging by her little question session a while back.

No way. If I did find something, it’d get awkward.

Don’t worry. Even if it gets awkward, I’ll still eat all your delicious food. Speaking of, how about you start cooking soon?

Oh, look at the time… Okay, you can go and get hungry now.

*Another fade to black happens, but I think it’s just a time skip*

Here you go! Mahiru’s special “Chunks of Meat and Veggies in Gooey Demi-glace Stew!” Eat up!

Don’t mind if I do! *munch munch*! *chomp chomp*!

Oh, so alcohol is fine now, huh? Finally give up on those drinking PSAs?

It’s delicious! *munch munch*! *chomp chomp*!

Did I recreate the Konatsuki-recipe right?

I think you did! *munch munch*! *chomp chomp*!

Okay, he’s eating, we get it.

Hey, are you even tasting it?

*munch munch*! *chomp chomp*!

That’s a no.

Oh, geez~

Mahiru, can I have another?!

… Oh, well… There’s plenty, so eat up, Itsuki.

*Another fade to black*

That was good! So good, I totally overate!

You can now fill up hungry people anytime! Good job, me!

You seem rather excited.

Really? I’m just acting like I normally do!

Speaking of which, you said you used red wine as a secret ingredient. I think I’m getting a bit dizzy…

It can do that? So this world has loving Google now? You couldn’t make long distance calls until a little while ago, but you can loving check Granipedia for wine info?

This world doesn’t make any sense.

What are you snooping around for…? Hey! D-Don’t tell me! You’re looking for dirty videos right in front of a girl?!

He just told you what he was looking for. Also, this world has loving porn sites?!

…Found it.

What?! You found a dirty video already?!

N-No… I’m talking about Granvania’s different types of wines. It seems their alcohol content is pretty high. So even if you try cooking out the alcohol, a little always remains.

A different set of rules that are never clearly defined and change constantly.

*yawn*… Say, Itsuki, do you think I’m drunk?

To be honest, I’m a little tipsy myself…

I researched the wine too, but didn’t think it’d be like this.

Is Itsuki going to burst into flames now that he has committed the unforgiveable sin of breaking Japan’s minimum drinking age laws?

But it tasted great thanks to that, so I’m satisfied.

I guess all’s well that ends well.

Mahiru, it’s getting late, so how about you spend the night? You can use my bed.

Yeah, what’s the big deal? We already did that with Yuzuha, and Farun, and Reone, and Sue, and… okay, probably not the right time to be mentioning this.

I mean, if you wanna go there, we’ve been doing that forever now.

It’s different back home… We’re all by ourselves here…

There were times we were alone when your folks went on trips. It’s okay. I’ll sleep on the floor.

That’s not the problem… I’m going back.

Yeah, Itsuki sure does sound like he’s trashed. Perfect speech and thinking clearly enough to know when it’s not a good idea to go out.

Just spend the night here, Mahiru.

Ugh… Then I’ll sleep on the floor.

Don’t worry about me. I usually play games and end up dozing off on the floor anyway.

They have game sys—Actually, never mind. We already know about that from Mirei’s festival event. Carry on.

But…

Well, do you wanna sleep together then?

I-I don’t…

I’m kidding.

Okay…

*Mahiru wanders out of frame*

Mahiru, I’m turning off the lights.

*The screen goes black at this point*

Hey, Itsuki…

What?

I-If we do sleep together…

…What? What rules are you referring to exactly?

I don’t know.

R-Right…

Yeah. I don’t know how I’d handle that. I’ll sleep right here. Good night, Mahiru.

Cousins, cousins talkin ‘bout banging, oh yeahhh~

Your bed smells exactly like you… Goodnight, Itsuki…

And that’s—

Itsuki, good morning.

…Never mind, I guess this scene is still going.

Morning… You’re awake already?

I woke up pretty early, so I went out to take a walk. I didn’t know they had morning stars in this world. They were so bright.

Guess I was sound asleep, huh.

I was going to head back in the middle of my walk…

What’s that?

I… like you, Itsuki. Now, and probably forever too. I have feelings for you. Even if we were to break the rules of Granvania…

I won’t let anyone say it’s the White Impurity’s fault…

*There’s a weird pause between lines here where the dialogue box disappears as if the scene has ended, but then it comes right back*

That’s all I wanted to say. So, shall we meet up at the academy?

Yeah. Let’s do this again sometime.

Yeah…

There, finally. Scene. How long was that?

Word Count (All of these include the simple head image tags [not url] and my commentary)
Farun = 895 words
Mirei = 600
Ruka = 750
Femi = 680
Arie = 580
Alfie = 1,150

Mahiru’s? 1,400. Keep in mind that I was doing a fair amount of pondering in Alfie’s compared to the others. Mahiru’s event dwarfs all the other Maidens so far and I believe all of the Maidens that follow. Not sure why she got such detailed attention.

Anyway, let’s just move on before Mahiru runs back on to screen and starts yammering again. Yuzuha is up next.

~Yuzuha’s Workshop~

*The screen is black at the moment*

Yuzuha, I’m coming in.

Man, the devs got a lot of mileage out of this CG.

…Oh, Big Brother. No, I’m fine. I was just about to nod off though… I’ll get up right now…

*At this point the CG cuts and we’re in 3D model realm*

…Ow!

Yuzuha… Did you take the medicine from Reone?

Y-Yeah… It hurt a little, so I was laying down in my coffin. It’s a medicine that keeps the drowsiness away… Oh, but you already heard from Reone, right?

I’ll try to hold out until you can go back to your world…

Is there anything I can do…?

It’s okay. I’m doing this because I want to. You’ve already given me so much… So I don’t want anything else.

I don’t wanna go back to my world if it means sacrificing you…

Please don’t say that. You have to go back. I’m sure you really want to.

Even the pain from the medicine is fine so long as I give in to it.

This route took a really depressing turn at the last second.

I really like you, but I’ve given up on having my feelings reciprocated. That’s why I hoped to at least be helpful to you as a Star Maiden.

Yuzuha…

Big Brother…?

Don’t give up on yourself… I’ll do anything for you, so please… don’t give up.

…Big Brother. … …I gave up. I finally gave up… I really thought I did… That I couldn’t live for very long… To draw the outside world… And my feelings of loneliness…

Ugh… *sniff*…

Everyone having a good time with this one?

…But… But I just can’t give you up! *sniff*… *sniff*… Waaaaaah!

You don’t need to give up. You don’t have to give up anything…

But… But I can’t live for much longer. Even if you returned my feelings for you, it’d be too sad…

…Yuzuha. Come to my world with me. It may be impossible to cure you of your illness if you stay here. But in my world, there may be a way to treat it.

…Really? Is that really possible?

…gently caress it, I’ve always been the pessimist. I’ll just go ahead and say it: The odds that doctors on Earth will have any loving idea what to do with a girl suffering from magic fantasy death narcolepsy are slim to none. We definitely haven’t created any methods of removing the need for sleep permanently. I guess you could load her up on trucker’s speed and Red Bull, but that’s only going to delay sleep for a couple of hours (not to mention it would completely destroy her health in other ways). Honestly, I think the odds are just as good that Reone or Mirei discover a way to treat the disease.

Yeah, I’ll take you there. I promise.

Big Brother… I’ll go. I’ll go to your world.

It’s much better than simply giving up now…

Yeah. Let’s go together, Yuzuha.

*The CG cuts at this point and it’s back to 3D*

I’ll be waiting for you. Until you find a way to return to your world. I’ll cooperate in the ritual like I always do until then. Please let me do that. Is that okay?

Of course. Let’s do this together, Yuzuha.

Yeah.

Oh well, I guess there’s nothing wrong with wishful thinking in this case. Maybe Sora really does have some cure for that. Who knows?

Reone gets her second CG here. Her third one is part of the Flower Viewing event, which we’ll get to eventually.

~Star God Academy Clinic~

Reone… something smells sweet in here…

That saves me the trouble of looking for you.

Were you gonna invite me to a snack party?

Unfortunately, I don’t have enough for you. I’m about to go to the church, and I want you to come with me.

Is Itsuki going to get married in this event, too?

Of course not. Let’s go.

That’s the right attitude. I like how cooperative you always are.

I’m just scared of seeing you get so mad when I say no…

N-No, nothing. I’ll go with you.

Is that a thing Reone does now? I guess it could be a reference to when she beat the poo poo out of all those thugs. Either way, don’t do it again. The “characters are terrified by the wafer-thin character” thing is rarely funny. When it is funny, it’s usually because there’s a sight gag to accompany it, which this game doesn’t really do.

That’s for the best. Careful not to put your foot in your mouth. Haha… Setting the jokes aside, you will be coming with me regardless. I really need you to…

All right then, I’ll go.

Yes, now let’s head over there.

~Star God Academy Church~

So what exactly are we doing here?

When I became the palace physician, I had him buried here…

Oh… Sorry, I didn’t know that. Then why come here all of a sudden?

You can’t be that dense. Can you?

I came to report to my brother that his dream has finally come true.

He really loved these…

Why does it have to be the last?

I recently remembered… Whenever my brother ate my baked apples, he always said…

”An apple a day keeps the doctor away! Eat enough and he’ll go away forever!” :v:

“I’ll protect you until then… But when that happens, it’ll be his turn to protect you… My job of protecting you will be over then…”

He was a good brother.

Yes… He was too good for me… …Are you watching me up there? I’ve finally found someone I love… So you don’t have to protect me anymore…

I was such a bad sister… But this time, I won’t leave any stones unturned… It’s taken such a long time, but please… forgive me with this… This… will be the last time I apologize to you… I’m sorry… I’m so sorry… Ugh… *sniff*…

I now feel kind of bad for making light of this incredibly somber moment. …Oh well! Too late now. What am I supposed to do, edit the text directly above me? If SC isn’t going to bother doing a second pass then why should I?

Your brother as my witness, I promise you, Reone: I will always protect you.

Yes… Now he can finally rest in peace…

*Back to 3D world*

…Itsuki, thank you for being by my side and listening… You saw my pitiful crying face…

Your beauty never left your face.

Well at least he didn’t bust out the old “You’re beautiful when you smile” chestnut.

It’s proof of all the hard work you’ve put in for your brother. There’s nothing pitiful about that… I won’t let you cry anymore…

Huh…?

So long as I’m with you, I will never let you cry. I promised to protect you after all.

R-Really now… But… I won’t be with you for much longer…

My role to build the hospital has ended… But my duty to exorcise Impurities still remains. I’ll see you off cordially as you return to your world…

Right. I’m counting on you till then.

Do continue requesting my assistance with the Classmating ritual. Don’t be shy. I’m sure we can make strong Star Children together.

*And then Reone leans in to kiss as the scene fades out*

That’s it for the next batch of Maidens. This update was a little short because of Mahiru. I could have split this entire thing into two updates, but Mahiru’s event drags on twice as long as everyone else’s. It ended up being just a little too much for a clean 50k character break.

Although the actual content of Mahiru's event is basically the same as in Conception, unsurprisingly it turns out it was expanded. Although there was actually a minor cut after the first scene because Mahiru didn't already have the ingredients with her, so there's a very brief scene in the town where she says 'hold on, I just need to go buy some ingredients' (she does in fact make curry, even though they switched it to specifically not be curry in Conception Plus)

The early scene in Itsuki's room is mostly just the porn mags section, then it goes straight to 'Mahiru has levelled up', no extended 'Itsuki is eating' block. No magic transmission device here, he just says 'oh maybe the alcohol here is stronger'. Mahiru subsequently just passes out on the floor and Itsuki puts her to bed. No conversation about where to sleep or weird conversation about them sleeping together, thankfully it just goes straight to the morning scene (which again, doesn't mention 'the rules of Granvania'. If it wasn't for the fact that line comes from Narcisstes I'd start to think they added the whole idea for Plus).

Unusual that Reone is content with 'I'll be with you until you leave' after all these other teen love events, though she is an actual employed adult so she's allowed to be a little more sensible.

a good idea at the time.

...It's some sort of magic allergy, isn't it? Yuzuha is allergic to Granvania itself, and going to Earth Sora will inherently fix it.

I can't really blame her, Granvania is a shithole full of utterly awful people. My body would probably fundamentally reject the place on a physiological level too.

It could be far worse (see Drakenguard/Nier). In fact, I think those games have an interesting (i.e. apocalypticaly(sp?) disastrous) take on mixing realities where the physical laws of each are not compatible with the other. but then again going back to this game, if you can travel one way and survive without contamination, why not the other way?

It only seems to be okay when it's Mahiru's event. Brandy-filled chocolates are used for laughs and later Mahiru can just go out and grab a bottle of (apparently high alcohol content) red wine without anyone batting an eye. But if any other Maiden even so much as utters the word "alcohol", then Itsuki immediately whips out his copy of Japanese Law (or in Reone's case she may just stonewall him herself for some reason).

I never thought of it that way. Yeah, I could see that. Granvania itself may be the cause of her fantasy disease. Maybe it's being caused by Star Energy imbalances! Star Energy can do anything apparently, so why not cause disease?

This world sucks. It should be cool, because it's a fantasy world of swords and magic and Star Children, but everyone living here is just doing everything in their power to make it the worst place imaginable (this includes Star God himself).

Never thought I'd look at a pristine fantasy realm of elves and beastmen and kickass spirit warrior children and hot ladies everywhere and go "You know what... I think I'd rather be back home in my world of pollution and internet trolls and endless warfare."

I kind of suspected that Mahiru's event was expanded, because it's way longer than anyone else's. Even then, I didn't expect that weird collection of changes. The change to stew is especially weird because curry has some meaning for the both of them. Mahiru wanted to be a good enough cook to make her family's special recipe curry and it also acts as a taste of home for both her and Itsuki. Her being good enough to replicate the recipe would prove just how far her skills have come. Stew doesn't have any deeper meaning. Mahiru just says that she wants to make it because she wants him to try something different for a change (even though she hasn't made curry for him before).

Everything else they added (the magic transmission device and conversation about sleeping) just seems like needless padding. Needless padding that gives Mahiru more screentime than any of the other Maidens, including the Maiden that was added specifically for this version of the game.

As for Reone, I agree that it could highlight her greater maturity/sensibility than characters like Femiruna. On the other hand, Reone is one of the few characters in this game that easily could go with Itsuki back to his world without any regrets. She achieved her brother's dream and intends to give up being the palace physician once Itsuki's job is done. She's finally made peace with her brother's death and has allowed herself to move on. She's also an orphan, so she doesn't have any family ties holding her down. It's strange that Itsuki wouldn't offer her the chance to go with him back to his world, but he does try and convince people like Femiruna.

Oh my god, that would make for an amazing expansion to this story. A Star Maiden goes back to Earth with Itsuki and it causes the appearance of Impurities because of the introduction of Star Energy to Earth's reality. Due to the gigantic population of Earth, that results in a tidal wave of Impurities from the billions of people pounding each other on a regular basis and the only people that can fight it are the previous God's Gifts that are still alive.

Unfortunately, we already know that there's no issues with mixing realities like that. Alfie told us that her God's Gift and Star Maiden mother both went back to Sora and that was 30 years ago, so if anything was going to happen it would have already done so.

Negative reactions to Granvania is a definite possibility in my opinion at least. I'll also second the thought that going back to Earth feels like a much better choice regardless.

The padding involving Mahiru's event is really strange, especially given what parts they decided to stretch out.

In regards to everything else, I've mostly been staying silent because I've been waiting to see the events for everyone before really making any decisions. About the only things I have to say is that Itsuki basically married Arie and the event with Femiruna was kinda creepy in a way.

I've been thinking more that Yuzuha's fantasy death narcolepsy is caused by some Star Energy thing and going to Earth/Sora might "cure" it simply because there's no Star Energy here to cause the problem. It's like having a magic curse and then entering an anti-magic field.

Wow, that is way shorter than Plus. I can sort of see why they would expand on it, but even then, what they did is overboard.

Also, yeah, that's a lot more suggestive at the end than in Plus. I know the implication is that she was awake all night watching Itsuki, but it sure does sound like they spent the night banging.

I also notice that Mahiru seems to be blushing more in the original version. Maybe I didn't pay enough attention, but it seems like she was a lot more composed in Plus.

That's an interesting question. Do Star Maidens that go back to Earth with a God's Gift still have Star Energy? Can they do magic stuff like how Mirei can create locks and seals, or like how Reone heals wounds?

Also do they still get to have the 120 years of youth? Because that would cause some questions to be raised eventually. People in their 70's who have known you since the day you arrived seeing your 20-something year old body when you're supposedly 70+.

The rest of the events will be up in a little while. I'll also open End Voting shortly after (although that might have to wait until tomorrow). Everyone will have plenty of time to vote, though (as in all of March and maybe even a week or two into April). There's plenty of time to mull it over. There are still some side events left after all, like the Beach or Flower Viewing.

In partial fairness the blushing has mostly been saved for the last few events since she wasn't really being outwardly affectionate up to there, but yeah, this one in particular.

Bonding Update XXII: Final Bonding Events (Part 2) – Sagittarius, Aquarius, Gemini, Taurus

Only a few more left. Sue is next. Sue’s final scene is… well, it’s going to start out a little weird.

~Sue’s Home~

Sue, are you there?

Oh, you’re inside. Where are you, Sue?

Um… A new animal came to my home, so I want to show you.

Name it Bahamut!

You’re getting new animals? What kind?

Of course. I wanna know what type of animal she is.

She gets lonely really easily, so be careful around her.

All right. Where is she?

I’ll bring her out right now.

So, what type of animal is she again…?

*Sue wanders into frame*

…Meow.

…Name it Battle Cat!

Ah!

Meow…

Sue…?

She gets lonely easily, so you have to give her attention. Itsuki… will mew take care of her?

I love cats!

Really? That makes meow so happy. But if mew don’t give her enough attention, she’ll sulk.

This sounds like a really needy animal. Are we sure we want that hanging around the house?

She pouts, huh? Then I better be careful.

…Meow.

So… did you understand what I was trying to say?

Yeah, I did.

I want to tell Papa and Mama about you… I want to go to their graves with you… Will you come with me? They’re buried in the forest.

Please god, don’t.

…I’ll get changed. I’ll only wear this in front of you.

Good. That was going to be a weird moment for the spirits of her mother and father to witness.

~Forest~

This is the first time I’m meeting them.

Do you come see your parents often?

…I come here when I’m lonely. Like when an animal dies or whenever I feel sad.

They must have been a great help whenever you felt sad.

Yeah… But I’ll probably visit them less and less… I think I won’t be as sad or lonely from now on. Itsuki… I’m scared that you’ll go away.

I don’t want you to go to the labyrinths anymore. I don’t want you in danger.

But… I won’t run away. I’m scared that you’ll go away like Papa and Mama… But I’ll wait for you to come back. I won’t let my worrying take over me.

Sue, I… I’ll never leave you.

Really…? I feel so afraid while I’m waiting…

I won’t let you be afraid anymore. I’m not going anywhere. If you’re gonna wait for me, I’ll always come back to you.

When my heart feels prickly, it’s suffocating. When it feels fuzzy, it’s warm. I don’t want to lose that warmth. I don’t want to let you go…

I promise. I’ll come back to you, wherever you may be.

Don’t just say it. Promise me properly. Itsuki… Promise me.

All right… I won’t go anywhere. I promise I will come back to you, Sue.

*Sue then leans in for a kiss and the scene fades to black*

So I guess that implies that Itsuki will stay in Granvania in a Sue ending, right? Unless she’s able to truck all her animals through that gate as well.

All right, let’s see what Collette’s got for us.

~Collette’s Sweet Wheats~

Welcome.

…Neehee. I was waiting for you, Itsuki. I know it’s you from the way the bell rings when you enter the bakery.

That’s something you can learn to distinguish?

How’s your grandfather doing?

You’re just going to jump right into it, huh. Shouldn’t you be praising me first?

I don’t even like Collette, but I’ve gotta agree. That was loving cold, Itsuki.

Or are you actually after my grandfather?

Better too high than too low. Let’s be real Collette, if I wasn’t LP’ing this game, you’d still be sitting at 0 Bond Level right now.

Yeah, like that’s even a possibility… I just wanna know how it went.

Oh, I guess I haven’t told you yet.

Oh, come on! That was a prime opportunity! “…let’s get down to brass hardtack”! Brass loaves isn’t even close to being a play on words. You’re just substituting a random word for “loaves”.

When my grandfather ate the “Ultimate Breadwinner”… He mumbled… “This isn’t fresh enough”…

Well, Itsuki did give Collette a clover that had been sitting in Mahiru’s wallet for god knows how long. That’s not surprising.

In other words, I failed.

That must have been rough to hear. So it didn’t work out…

…Oh, please don’t get dejected like that.

…Huh?

Yes, “Huh” is actually the best response here.

Why are your eyes as wide as saucers? I’ve wanted to say this for a while. I just never had a good opportunity. It was a struggle just coming up with a way to say it… I wonder what’s gotten into me…

I…

Oh, you don’t need to respond just yet. I feel overwhelmed just having said it… Ah, sorry, I went completely off topic. Um… going back to my grandfather…

Then my grandfather’s stomach started hurting and he went to bed.

Wow. You know, Itsuki, now might be a good time to point out where you got that clover from. Just saying. Might want to pass the buck now before we find out Collette’s grandfather died of food poisoning or something.

What a horrible way for things to end up…

Not at all. When he was moaning about his stomach pains… He briefly regained his memories.

Is that the power of bread?

Actually I think that’s just something that happens to people with Alzheimer’s. Memories can sort of come and go for brief flashes of time.

I believe so. Then he said… “Don’t be bound to my bakery. Home is where your bread is”… Then he forgot all about bread again…

Did he mean you shouldn’t stay at this bakery?

That’s how I understand it.

…Itsuki. Please take me with you to your world! I want to find a four-leaf clover and complete my “Ultimate Breadwinner.”

Just grow the drat things! Clovers take like a week to grow and their patches are multiple layers deep. I’m pretty sure I can see a grow plot just outside the window. Just yank that shrub out and plant a bunch of clover over there.

I want to start from scratch with you. I’ll do anything… S-So… please take me with you!

That makes me happy to hear.

R-Really?! If that makes you happy, then I can do my best anywhere. I’m a girl who gives it her all, so this won’t be a bad deal for you.

…I understand, Collette.

D-Do you?! So then, I can go with you…?

But are you really okay leaving your grandparents here? I’m worried about them.

I can convince them.

He didn’t ask if you could get a permission slip, Collette. He asked if you were okay with never seeing your grandparents again and them never seeing you. This isn’t a drat field trip we’re talking about.

I guess, but we still have some time. Keep thinking about it.

…I understand. Until then, I will continue training here.

…You know, that’s actually a very horrible thing for you to say given what you just said you wanted to do. “I want to go back to your world with you! But before then, I’ll make sure I put those fuckers down the street out of business and force the people working there out of a job!”

I’ll show you my full bake-off mode.

Listen, you can staple Reone or Arie’s knockers to you all you want, but unless you find a way age up by about 5 or 6 more years (at least), then you’re not going to stop being the creepiest choice in this game. And yes, that includes Tarua. At least Tarua isn’t constantly drawing attention to how young she is as a way to be a tease.

You should focus more on baking…

I see. So that’s your type. In that case, I’ll leave it as is.

No, I just meant that you don’t need to try so hard.

That’s how genetics work. Of course there’s also a chance that genetics simply keeps you at your current size. Basically, it’s not up to you is what I’m saying.

Neeheehee. In any case, Itsuki, you can’t just return to your world without telling me.

Yeah, that’s not until later anyway. Help me with the ritual in the meantime.

Of course, Itsuki.

Please don’t phrase it like that…

Anyway, there’s Collette. I hope all you Collette fans out there are happy.

:cripes: And there are apparently more of you out there than I would have thought according to this popularity poll that Polsy dug up on the PSP game’s old site. This really depresses me. The rest of the poll is no better, with characters like Mirei getting beat out by Tarua.

Anyway, speaking of characters that I can’t believe broke the Top 5 in a popularity poll, it’s time for Lillith and Lillie.

~Fortune-Teller Manor~

D-Dammit…

Hey, Lillie… What are you doing?

We haven’t seen game Mana in ages. Not to any significant degree anyway. It’s been pretty refreshing, not going to lie.

Sh-She’s not… What are you so afraid of?

She always goes around hitting me randomly on my head! I’ll kill anyone who touches my head! You better remember that. I’ll never let anyone hit me on the head again!

So, what exactly are you doing…? Hm? There’s a memo on the ground…

Hey! Don’t read it!

“Hey, shut up! You went on dates with him how many times?!” “I won’t give you Itsuki.” “That’s my line!” …Are you two fighting?

I decided… not to give this body to Lillith anymore…

Don’t be so reckless… How did it come to this?

It’s… It’s your fault. That’s why…

Huh…?

Don’t you think it was strange when we kissed? About why her personality returned…

That’s because kissing someone she likes will shock her back to normal. You said it yourself, Lillie. That Lillith likes me…

But I’m the one who kissed you! Not Lillith! Even Lillith noticed, but you didn’t… You’re so dense. Why won’t you realize…

I want you all to myself, Itsuki!

Exhibit #2 as to why Harem Endings are not good.

Oh, brother. I hear the loud voice of a fool in here.

M-Mirei?!

Man, Mirei really gets around in these events. She gets a surprising amount of screentime in other Maidens’ events.

What are you doing here?

Convince me of what?!

She knew you would do something like this someday. Lillith is worried about you. Stop this foolish business of keeping control of your body.

Shut up, four-eyes! You’ve got nothing to do with this!

Oh? Is that a challenge?

I’m on board for that. Honestly I think Lillith’s “fortune-teller worried about possible futures” thing would probably be enough to carry her route by itself. What’s Lillie bringing to the table exactly?

Wh-What…?

Wait, Mirei… Are you serious?

They’re fighting because there are two personalities residing in one body. Erasing one of them is the easiest solution.

Whoa, hold the phone. We were talking about getting rid of Lillie. I actually don’t mind Lillith all that much.

Wh-What are you saying?! Why would I ever want to erase Lillith?!

It’s the same as you keeping control of that body. You want Lillith erased, no?

She’s got you there.

I can erase her, so come over here.

To hell with you! Lillith is part of me! If she has to vanish, then I’ll vanish first!

…What? Oh, come on. Of course I was considering that if it meant getting rid of Lillie. Listen, you Lillith/Lillie fans might not like it, but that doesn’t mean I can’t entertain the idea.

Oh? So it’s you I’ll be erasing?

Guh…

Stop it, Mirei!

Both of them are necessary. Lillith may be two people, but they’re one and the same. That’s why I like Lillith.

You…

Hm, I see. Then there’s no need for me to convince you any further.

Huh?

I’ll take my leave. See you around.

*Mirei leaves*

She had to come in and play bad cop because everyone else in this room is a loving moron.

Phew… I seriously thought she was gonna kill me.

After saying my thoughts out loud, I’ve realized… Both of you have to be here. I don’t want either of you to be gone.

No, you just said you wanted to imprison her for the rest of your lives in a “I have no mouth and I must scream” situation. That’s all. It’s totally different. One is lifelong torment and the other is instant release.

I know. I know the bond you two share.

Why are you so quiet? Say something.

…Thanks…

Huh?

I’m glad you understand.

You thanking me like this actually scares me…

…I do say it sometimes. Listen up, because it’s a rare occurrence. We’ll probably cause you more trouble in the future…

Listen, I don’t wanna repeat myself…

:barf:

… You’re the only one who’d say that to us… Itsuki…

*Lillie leans in*

Wh-What?

Shut up. Just be quiet and don’t move. Shut up and stay right there. …This is the first and last time I’ll ever say this. So perk up your ears and listen. And never forget this. I’m glad… that we were able to meet… and…

*Lillie goes in for the kiss and the screen turns white*

Y-You kissed again…

But… I’ve never felt Lillie have such warm emotions before.

I’ve checked out by the way. Just letting you all know.

I’m happy for her, but also a little jealous… …

…Something wrong?

Itsuki… Did Lillie tell you how she feels…?

Yeah. She did…

I see… So that’s why her emotions feel so warm… I want to feel that way too.

Lillith… What’s wrong?

I want to tell you something too, Itsuki. It’s very important… Will you listen to me?

Of course.

…Do you remember the time when my personality wouldn’t return? It was when I said my memory left me…

Yes, I remember.

I remembered everything… I’d read a fortune then… And seeing the results, I felt so shocked… But I couldn’t bring myself to tell you…

Why not?

Because I was too embarrassed… The fortune I had was…

We aren’t dating, yet I made a reading for this fortune… I felt so embarrassed it made my face feel like it was on fire. But even Lillie told you how she felt… That’s why… I also have to… I… I love you, Itsuki…

Yeah… me too.

Uuu… I feel so happy… now that we’ve reciprocated our feelings… I feel so happy… yet…

Was there something else?

The result of the fortune was…

What did it say? Tell me.

It said that… That I must be separated from you… I suppose it’s only natural… One day, you will return to Sora… But… I can’t bear to think that we must part ways… Uuu…

I wouldn’t have done the reading if I knew it would end up like this! Waaaaaah!

Don’t cry, Lillith. You’re the one who taught me that fortunes teach us how to change the future.

Ugh…

So let’s change our future together. I won’t be separated from you.

Itsuki… I… I… I feel so happyyy! … Itsuki… I have to say it’s not fair that Lillie got all the benefits…

Huh?

*Lillith goes in for the kiss and the scene fades*

God dammit that took forever. And it still wasn’t as much as Mahiru’s event! It’s even less when you think about it, since that was technically the final event for 2 characters, not 1.

Ugghhhh…. Who’s left? Right, Tarua. Let’s do this, I guess.

Maybe something will actually happen in this one.

~Star God Academy Field~

Itsuki!

*Tarua runs into frame*

Eee!

*The screen flashes white very quickly, so I guess she rammed into Itsuki*

You seem happy, Tarua. Did something happen?

Yup! I was doing deliveries and something great happened! I found you!

Finding me is a great thing to you?

Of course! It makes me super happy! That’s why I came running here! Hehe, Itsuki!

I’m happy too!

I mean… after that huge Lillith/Lillie event, yeah, I’d say you’re a sight for sore eyes. Happy might be a little too strong of a word, though.

That makes me even happier! I’m way happier than you are!

Hey, this isn’t a competition…

That said, is this going anywhere? I’d like to start getting the ball rolling on making Star Children based on the goons in the thread.

Itsuki, there’s something I want to give you.

What do you have for me?

I-It’s kinda embarrassing here… so come here!

*Tarua wanders off screen, apparently pulling Itsuki along*

H-Hey, don’t pull!

~Star God Academy Classroom~

Here ya go!

Nope. This is my letter to you. See? There’s no stamp on it.

That’s improper postage. I’m gonna have to send that back.

You wrote this for me?

Yup! I’ve had so many happy things happen thanks to you.

So, here you go, Itsuki.

Thanks… Do you mind if I read it?

Augh?! N-No! Do it when I’m not around… You shouldn’t read it now, okay?

Let’s look inside…

N-No, don’t!

But if you poured all your feelings into it, I wanna open it right away.

Augh… Ugh… I-If you really wanna read it… G-Go ahead… But… Augh… This is so embarrassing…

Here goes…

Augh… Okay…

…That’s it?

Man, even Tarua’s big love confession is short on details.

Y-Yeah…

Heh…

Hey! You laughed! You didn’t have to laugh! Grrr!

Hey, I’m not making fun of you. I’m laughing because it’s totally like you.

That’s actually not very funny when you think on it.

Like me…?

Yeah. It’s straightforward. And your emotions run into me at full force. I like that about you, Tarua…

Why wouldn’t I?

I can think of reasons why. The list is short… and that’s half the problem.

Augh augh, Itsuki!

*The screen flashes white again as I guess Tarua rams Itsuki*

I love you! But it’s different from before. My chest feels so fuzzy! Just thinking about you makes me love you even more. I like being watched, patted, and carried by you.

Augh augh…

What’s the matter, Tarua?

I… want to give you a smooch… I really, really want to… But a smooch has to be out of thanks… Augh… I can’t think of anything to thank you for…

Who said you had to thank me to kiss me?

Augh…

So long as you have feelings for the other person, that should be enough.

Of course…

*Tarua goes in for the kiss*

Mm…

Tarua…

Itsuki… I love you.

*Tarua then moves even closer to the screen than she was before and the screen fades*

Listen… it was sweet, okay? It really was! But there’s just nothing there… There’s no character. There’s no attachment. Tarua likes to run, she likes Boss, and she wants to be a postman. She’s a kid. There’s no rationalizing your way around that fact. How many of Tarua’s events do you even remember? The one where she lost the letter, right? That’s basically the only time something happens in her freaking route.

Anyway, that’s it. No more Bonding Updates. All that’s left are the remaining Japan Events and those small scenes that happen after the next big story update. I’ll open the Ending Vote soon, but it will stay open until the final update, so there will be more than enough time.

~Star Maiden Ending Vote~

Yes, the Alfie edit is intentionally badly cropped. There is no artwork online (that I can find) of all 13 Star Maidens pictured together.

Here we are. All of the Maidens have had their character arcs largely concluded. The only things left are some side events and their individual endings. We’ll take a look at the side events in due time, but the endings are going to be a different story.

Those of you that followed my Conception II LP (or just read it at some point) know how this works. As part of the participation aspect of the LP, I leave the choice of which ending we get up to the thread. It’s the ending that will wrap up the LP and the one we’ll get to see in detail (however short or lengthy that detail may be. Some of the CII endings were real loving short, let me tell ya).

That being said, I will be giving a summary of every other Maiden ending, so at the very least you’ll still get to find out what happens to everyone and also see their associated ending CG. But as far as full dialogue goes, we need to pick 1 out of the 13 choices available to us.

Depending on the length of the endings, I may include the top 5 or 6 polling Maidens in detail as part of the bonus ending update. The highest votes Maiden will still end the LP, but some others will get detailed endings as well. So vote for whichever Maiden you like best, not whichever ones are currently leading in the results.

I’ve also made my opposition to the Harem Ending fully known. You’ll get a summary of that one and no more because Harem Endings are stupid. :colbert:

~NOTE ABOUT THE VOTE~

The vote is open now, but it will remain open until the last dungeon update. Given the pace at which I’m going (as well as the approaching horror of final exams), that will probably be sometime in early or mid April, but could be as late as the end of April. At the very least, the vote will be open throughout March.

You only get to vote once. You can’t change your mind afterward either. The poll site I use doesn’t allow me to adjust totals, for obvious reasons, and I am not keeping a manual tally of people rescinding their vote and giving it to someone else.

Basically, you have plenty of time to make up your mind. There’s no need to rush and get a vote in as soon as possible. If you are positive of who you want to vote for and no further side-events could possibly change your mind, then go ahead, but there will be plenty of time to think it over.

Final Star Maiden Vote: Open until March 31st at least

So there you go. You only get 1 choice and the vote is for which Maiden you want to see get the star treatment during the ending.

Yeah, the event itself is fine. You've got two personalities that have always lived with each other in the same body and are now discovering something that they can't easily share. Then they come to terms with it and make the arrangement work. Aside from the fact that it shows why Harem poo poo is horrible, the event is pretty good.

But I hate Lillie. No problems with Lillith, except for her costume, but I despise Lillie and therefore the event is ruined for me.

So what? You can't prove I posted that.
Huh. I never bothered to look at that poll before, but Yuzuha being number one's actually kind of surprising.

I mean, I'd expect Ruka, I'd expect Sue, but... huh. I guess its the gothic + "big brother" thing, but for the latter I would've expected Mahiru. Maybe it's the ending?

I mean, the dolphin hair is neat, but still. The fact that Ruka's the only one on there who doesn't seem underage is concerning, but I guess I can't can't say that's a surprise.

As for the vote, I'm still unsure. If anything, Game Itsuki's done a good job of ruling out a few I'd thought of before.

I'm putting far too much thought into this, it seems.

Is it possible that perhaps the player base caught on to Yuzuha's life-threatening condition and picked her out of sympathy?

Also last bit of astrology coming soon...

I'm sure that does play a part in at least some of the votes for her, but considering three of the other Top 5 are also among the youngest of the cast I'd say the major reason simply comes down to fetish. Yuzuha ticks a lot of the boxes for otaku types:

-Little Sister/Big Brother relationship

-Needs protecting

-Gothic lolita styling

-Uncomfortably young for the game's likely audience

If it weren’t for the inclusion of Collette, Lillith/Lillie, and Sue in the Top 5, I'd give the voters some benefit of the doubt and assume sympathy for her condition was a major factor.

The Flying Twybil posted:

The ending could be part of it. I'm not sure if this poll was carried out before or after the game's release, but I would assume after, which means people that voted likely saw their favourite character's route through.

Mahiru not breaking Top 5 is not overly surprising. Remember that this was a character poll for the PSP game, which means Old Mahiru was alive and kicking. Mahiru got a personality change precisely because her original personality wasn't well liked.

Uh oh. Do I use Ariadne thread or Goho-M?

I would forget to do it if I waited to vote, so I voted now. Besides, Alfie is the only other character that I would pick, and I doubt that she will show up again outside of the ending anyway, so she can't influence my vote any more.

I mostly bring up Mahiru because I'm assuming the "Brother/Sister" thing with Yuzuha hits the same demographic looking for that awful sense of incest. I feel pretty sure both of them have those aspects of their characters attached for that purpose. Then again, I'm only speculating off of what I know to expect from the otaku.

That aside, part of me would prefer the previous version of Mahiru more in a way. It fits better with the "sudden competition for Itsuki" part of her story and it's still more consistent than whatever we were getting. That being said, I still can't look past the cousins part and would still rather have it be a non-romantic route. I know I've stated it before, but I'd much rather it be platonic for Yuzuha as well.

I mean, really anything to get rid of that angle.

What? It seemed like
a good idea at the time.

My bottom two are in the top five. (I'm pretty sure they're the entire thread's bottom two: Colette and the 'Twins'.) gently caress that popularity poll. (Though I do find it entertaining that the 'bottom' three are within a hundred-vote range and then it's two separate thousand-point jumps to second and first.)

Personally I wish they'd learned from Persona 4 and just put in platonic options for all the Maidens. But I suppose that's expecting too much.

It's more like Colette and Tarua for me. Like PK said, Tarua's route is a whole lot of nothing, and they both have the whole pedo angle in spades; Colette directly mentions it, and Tarua is the most childlike of the Maidens. Sue also comes of as somewhat childish to me for some reason, but at least she seems to be developing as a character by the end of it. Lillith and Lillie aren't great, but there's at least something in their route.

That’s fair. Yeah, I'm pretty sure we’ve seen the last of Alfie until her ending. There are still two ??? events in the Main section that might be related to her, but they likely won't trigger until the end.

I might show off some of her generic events as Dungeon Update filler, since she doesn't get "Japan Events", but the generic events are just silly everyday moments that won't make or break a character.

I definitely would prefer to see Old Mahiru. As you said, it would be more compelling to approach from the competition angle. A school idol that has boys tripping over themselves for her, but she believes that she has a "backup" that she can wait for since he's a bit of a nobody. Except then that guy becomes the center of attention for 12 other women and Ms. School Idol needs to scramble in order to stay in the race.

Instead we get this weird mutant version where she has parts of that personality mixed in with a kinder and more loving character.

But yes, the cousin thing will forever mark Mahiru. I'm really surprised that they didn't just leave it as "childhood friend". You would even still have the "living together" aspect for those people that like the family idea for some strange reason. But for god’s sake, why was it necessary to have the blood connection? Why?

Yeah, there is a big gap between the top 3 positions. I would have thought that the underage choices would have split the vote too much for all of them to hit Top 5, but I guess there were just that many of those fans.

Also, agreed, gently caress that poll. All of my favourites were ranked fairly low. It’s especially insulting that Mirei got beaten out by Tarua.

I can see some childish aspects in Sue as well, although it's harder to pin down why. Maybe it's the oversized coat making her look more like a kid?

Like, I said this once before: I don’t care what people are "in to". Everyone has their thing and I generally don't judge. There’s already one vote in for Collette and one for Yuzuha, so even in this very LP there are people out there that like those characters more than the others. I can accept that.

But goddamn it, I do not understand it. I expect that every one of these heroines will get at least one vote from somebody. There has to be at least 1 fan of each of them reading along. But it baffles me that in a poll consisting of like 10k votes, over half of them would be just for Collette, Yuzuha, and Lillith/Lillie.

I'm trying my damndest to find the depth in those characters. I defended Narika in CII after finding a bunch of people calling her the weakest or flattest character and I made a point to say that I'm sure characters like Torri would probably hav defenders of their own. But I've got nothing in this case. They all have some arc they go through, as opposed to someone like Tarua, but why do any of them stand out?

A platonic route for everyone would be great, I just didn't really consider that as an option considering the expected audience for this game. Maybe it's expecting too much, but I don't think it's too much to hope for.

The Twins, Colette, and Tarua are just plainly in the bottom 3 for me for reasons already stated by me and the rest of the thread. I'd agree in saying Sue comes off as childish, but I'm not sure as to what specifically makes her that way. I could theorize, but I can't really give a straight answer.

Edit:

When it comes to this kind of stuff I'm afraid I can't help myself from judging, but I'll at least stay silent about it. I'm not going to go off on moralistic tirades or be a jerk about it directly to somebody- it's none of my drat business anyways and I'll keep it to myself.

I think a majority of votes go for a lot of the stereotypical otaku attractions, but I'm sure people can find some sort of depth that keeps them there. It's possible some of it comes from comparisons to people they already know. For instance, Farun is very much like a friend I haven't talked to in a few years now. Maybe the fact that Tarua delivers mail or runs is a positive characteristic for people, perhaps Yuzuha fans are there for the art, and perhaps Twins fans are there for the fortune telling or reminds them of someone with a rather split personality.

I'm no psychologist or sociologist though, so I'm just guessing.

Still need to get back to that CII LP one day.

So here's what I put together as the Final Star Child teams, since I didn't get any suggestions. Team A(wful) didn't get many votes, but there were at least enough for me to assemble a team.

Teams B and C will be User Teams for the rest of the game. I've done what I can to imagine the Top 8 posters in this thread as Star Children (excluding Commander Keene since they already had a Star Child named after them in Team A(wful) 2.0).

If Polsy, The Flying Twybil, AnAnonymousIdiot, Slaan, BlazeEmblem, Raitzeno, Mokinokaro, or SSNeoman want to make any suggestions for their personal Star Child, then you've got until late Friday (Atlantic Time) to let me know. That includes name, mother, Matryoshka, and class. Friday night is when I plan to start genocide running dungeons to level everyone up for the next labyrinth update.

Notes: Female Hunter. Mainly based on Polsy's avatar. Because Polsy was the "Japanese Version Checker" during this LP, I decided to create this SC using the Polyoshka, which is based on a mascot for Japanese magazine "Dengeki Playstation". That said, nobody seems to have any loving idea what it does, if it does anything.

Notes: Male Dungeon Master. Mainly based on SSNeoman's name. I thought Neoman was fitting for Dungeon Master since they look like futuristic heroes.

Notes: Female Astromancer. AnAnonymousIdiot contributed astrology comparisons throughout the LP, so Astromancer seemed obvious. Also, Astromancer's giant spherical hairdo (with Alfie as the mother) sort of looks like AnAnonymousIdiot's planet avatar.

Notes: Male Bondsman. BlazeEmblem has the P4 protagonist in their avatar right now and Persona is all about them Social Links, so Bondsman seemed appropriate (along with the sort of matching hair colour).

Notes: Male Paladin. Mostly based on Slaan's avatar. I think the Paladin's ears look kind of like goat ears (I think they are actually dog ears or something, but the Paladin hat is flattening them). I'll admit, my reasoning was tenuous on this one.

Notes: Male Ninja. Lost on this one. The Male Ninja's head gear is kind of T-shaped, like a twybil is. Hair colour is mostly to match the Avan avatar TFT had at time of writing.

Notes: A slightly outdates Thief Class, but I felt it was the closest to Mokinokaro's avatar.

Notes: Male Magic Knight with Reone as mother. Closest I could get to Raitzeno's Roy avatar.

I'd suggest stuff for the Star Child teams, but I'll admit I find myself usually more focused on the story than the mechanics with this game. As result, I don't really know too much of what I'm picking.

I'm good with it. Ninja sounds fine to me as I can see the Wind Clothes matching the "Flying" part as well and I have a habit of ninja editing out proofreading errors in my posts. The hair color's a nice farewell to my mildly annoyed Avan avatar.

If you need to make any changes in the name of class balance or whatever, that's fine too. I'll probably be changing my avatar tomorrow if it you come up with a theme you're more sure about.

Though, I have to ask, did you have to look it up to know a twybil's T shaped? They're a rather rare subject, so I'm always curious to know if anyone else knows about 'em.

Just finished the CII LP by the way, and I must say it is a drastic improvement as a sequel. A lot better than a certain sequel I could mention. I personally liked LP Wake, and I'd prefer him over the go-to plastic cup protagonist.

I'll concede that yeah, that occasionally all you'd see is italicized text, but you kept it close to the game's narrative as far as I could tell.

I did carpentry when I was younger, so that's how I knew. I made a table! It looks pathetic, even to this day. A permanent reminder of my lack of talent.

CII's major leg up on this game is having a supporting cast. It helps flesh out the protagonist more when they have people to talk to that aren't the heroines.

The other improvement was having the heroines interacting with each other outside of the protagonist’s influence.

Oh, neat! The carpentry, I mean, not the mildly depressing table. Most of my carpentry is just making handles for old tools, which often results in only temporary successes. I've got one sitting a few feet from me that I haven't even tested because part of me doesn't feel like knowing if it didn't work this time, again. I made a birdhouse once, but birds don't really seem to like it. I also fixed a leg on a stool from falling out, but I didn't help much with it's wobbling problem. I'm not very good at it, is what I'm saying.

CII's supporting cast and the overall interaction helps the game feel a whole lot more natural compared to this one, where the NPCs only really seem to exist for you. Granvania feels kinda small and isolated, with the Maiden routes almost seeming like alternate timelines. The interconnection CII makes it feels like you're not the only presence walking about in the world, I guess. I might go as far as to say the S-Ranks are more interesting than this game's Star Maidens. More of a personality to look at, less of having to latch onto a quirk/trope.

I'd still say it has some definite rough moments, but I can say it's a improvement over what we've seen here.

Edit: And yes, I'm still thinking about my vote. I will think about this far too long, especially given I'm only going to make a miniscule contribution to the polls.
