I gave it a really good try when it came out on PS+ but it just does nothing for me.

Nioh was cool but I got to a point where I realized there was still like 70% of the game ahead of me and I didn't enjoy the systems enough to keep at it

I hope the loot and equipment systems are way different in Nioh 2

It's a good game but feels more like the Ninja Gaiden reboot series to me. A whole lot quicker and less weighty than the Souls games.

Nioh was pretty good but I just got tired of it by the end and I haven't really played a soulslike since. Really need to get to Sekiro at one point though...

they're exactly the same and there are more vectors for loot in terms of yokai souls

i don't know if i'd agree but i will say that a lot of people praise it for merging ninja gaiden fast paced beat em up with dark souls stamina management whatever-you-want-to-call-it but i felt like they were two dissonant aspects that got in each other's way instead

i summed up my nioh opinions over in the sekiro thread a while back:

Cowcaster posted:

yeah, if you really love the dark souls series but feel like all the backstory and setting and exploration of the world just gets in the way and would prefer just having a bunch of disconnected levels to fight some enemies in with a boss at the end, and hell throw in a diablo style loot treadmill, nioh is going to tickle your pickle better than any of the dark souls games. if you're someone who actually really loves the exploration and reading item descriptions and learning about the setting and world and npcs in it, then it's probably going to leave you pretty lukewarm.

What about a Dark Souls where you slowly unravel the setting through item descriptions and exploration and stuff, but something isn't trying to kill you every 10 feet.

It's just I'm used to that type of weird "we better make the main character white because that's the only way the audience can possibly relate" from movies but seeing it in a game was weird.

NANI?

I don't think a Japanese company would make the main character a white guy for that reason.

I'm completely baffled as to why Sony don't give a poo poo about people using their network for shady things. Got a friend request from an obvious hacker/pornbot "lady_pro_5-q" who has nothing on their profile except a link to what is probably a phishing website with a message about "find my nude pics here"

Reported the profile to PSN several days ago, got a message that they've "taken the appropriate action", but the profile is still there. Reported again last night, got the same "we took action" message, but... the profile is STILL THERE

As someone that's worked in IT before this makes absolutely no sense to me. It would take any human being 5 literal seconds to know to delete that profile. Do they just not have humans look at these? It makes no sense.

I mean, if they thought it would make it sell better to western audiences, sure they would

to clarify, I am aware that white male is the protaganist of choice for video games but games also usually make the story completely about them or just white wash the whole thing. These are bad but I'm used to seeing them in games. What I'm refering to is a much more specific thing where the audience insert barely seems like they're part of the story William feels more like an observer to something far more interesting while he goes forth with his generic waifu saving plot. It's more this sense that William could've been cut out of the story and you'd pretty much have the same game. It's not just that he feels forced, it's that it doen't feel like he needs to be there.

the english dude existed and lived in japan but somehow i feel as though they could've gotten away with not using an white english dude that actually existed in their story about how the sengoku period was a shadow war between magic pokemon trying to stop orochi the seven headed serpent if they really, really put their minds to it

Probably not, yeah. I don't know what the uptake is for PSN subs but they must have tens of millions of users and Sony isn't going to pay enough support people to read and thoroughly investigate every report that comes in. They can escalate and investigate the accounts that get a lot of reports in a short time because that's probably a human being an rear end in a top hat but if you ban a spambot it'll just come back as a new free account.

Sure they could have but they chose to use William because he's a cool historical figure

They could have also chosen not to use the black samurai as a boss fight but they still used him because Yasuke is also a cool historical figure
