And everyone knows there are 10s of 1000s if not 100s of 1000s of cases just wondering around without knowing.....doesn't that mean the fatality rate is way way lower than it seems? The flip side of that is there are likely covid-19 deaths occurring right now that are not being correctly attributed. In fact you can't draw any meaningful conclusions from total uncertainty like this, we don't know if the number of infected is off by a factor of 2 or 2000 Also, progression of symptoms takes over two weeks before things get bad enough for hospitalization, and can take a few weeks more to result in death. Seattle hospitals are slammed right now.

Exactly. This thing takes a month to kill you. We'll start seeing the first crest of that wave in two weeks. Just as Italy has.

It really is sad. No changes, except absences are not being marked as truancy for now.

The pcr test is three targets on the N gene. Sars is very similar with only a few mismatches in the N gene. Mers is quite a bit different as are the 4 common coronavirus found on your 1000$ respiratory viral panel. Im in the middle of developing a test for our hospital lab using the same primer/probe combos as the CDC but a different PCR platform. The FDA has loosened all restrictions. Necessary validation testing on non cleared FDA covid 19 testing is greatlh diminished. Reagents are being sold at cost. I purchased 500 reactions for 99$ thats dirt cheap. They really want hospital labs to pick up the testing. But they should have done thid 1 month ago.

I did, even with the difference in scale the increase isn't exponential, otherwise we'd be well into the hundreds of thousands by now. Growth stopped being exponential around the 100 marker.
