shame on an IGA posted:Still lolling at the guy who posted a log-scale chart to try and disprove exponential case growth I'm not surprised people don't understand math, I'm surprised at how people will double down on their ignorance even after being repeatedly bashed over the head with the facts. It just sucks when you need collective action to fix something, and it just won't happen because of said ignorance and stupidity. On a somewhat related note, my Plague Inc games use the name Ignorance. Ignorance has killed humanity many times over.

i was in three airports yesterday (burbank, denver, albany) and everything seemed like business as usual. saw one or two people wearing masks in denver, none at the other airports or on the planes, and the planes were fairly full. dudes did seem to be washing their hands a bit more thoroughly then usual so i guess thats good

Yeah I cant really grind my life to a halt because I might get the flu. I take the train to work and go to the gym almost every day so I'll probably get sick eventually. I am okay with this since I can work from home just fine

im currently on tour thousands of miles from my home, if i got sick i guess i'd have to self quarantine in some lovely motel in upstate new york or something which would probably suck a lot more than being sick

I gotta fly to Florida sometime in the next couple weeks for work. I have no reason to think I've been exposed (more than anyone else at least, it's everywhere but there isn't a confirmed case in my office or neighborhood or anything), but I'm still wondering if I ought to track down a couple masks for the flights just as a precaution. Don't want to freak out other flyers though.

Limit your exposure to large groups of people as much as you can. Wash your hands. Don't travel unless it's for a very good reason. For me the only activities I plan to engage with that involve other closer contact with other people are exercising and being in the office. The latter I plan to avoid as much as possible but unfortunately I probably don't have full carte blanche at my job to work remote all the time. But I will be doing so at least a few times a week. Do what you gotta do but if you can avoid large groups of people do that where possible imo.

But I do plan on limiting my exposure to other people otherwise outside of that and work. I have also cancelled travel plans I had. With luck this thing will be controlled enough that most of us won't have to be affected by it, but the early signs are not good.

From my understanding were essentially trying to stay the spread as much as we can until a vaccine it's developed. With the added bonus that any significant destiny of infection would cripple the regional healthcare systems.

The current objective is to slow the spread down enough that all hospitals and whatever temporary treatment centers there will be won't be overrun by cases.
