God I forgot how long the preamble for the Madarame Palace drags on. It's like a full week of bullshit before they decide "oh hey maybe we should check the nav???" and had they done that from the start it would have avoided all of this  Anyway I'm at the point where I'm ready to send the calling card for Palace 2, not looking for spoilers but could anybody who's familiar with P5R tell me if there's skills or links I should be focusing on? I already know you want to get all the new links maxed before the end of November. e. For the record I have all my skills at 2, need to work Beef Bowl one more night to unlock Bernie, and after that was going to aim for Guts to get Gun Dad. I love all the little things that seem aimed specifically at people who played the original one to death. The small twists in the intro / tutorial section, all the confidant cameos, etc. It all makes me so happy. It's like coming home after a long trip, and while you were gone they fixed that leak in the bathroom, organized all your stuff, made things less homophobic

Game so good. Just finished the first palace, but I’m struggling to find guts activities. I don’t remember the clinic being gated behind guts this early on, pretty much just reading in the library every day it gives guts but other than that ??? Until the restaurant opens? Oh. Yeah I ended up doing 3 library days with guts, and the first guts dvd twice to hit rank two. Now I’ve been in three days of story so I can’t rank up death all the same hah

I didn't exactly catch this my first time through, but I really like how Sae tells you that Sojiro must have known what you were doing and supported you anyways, which is kind of a really cool thing to hear when you just start the game and he's still being an rear end in a top hat to you

So I've been enjoying myself and got past the first palace, yay. I bought some DLC and checked the cardboard box but nothing happened - it was the battle pack and persona pack if that helps. Can I not claim DLC if the game is in progress, and only at the first time you get DLC (like 3rd night or something?)

You probably get both of those later, since the battle pack is a superboss dlc (and hence lategame content) and DLC Personas have historically been broken as gently caress so they might only be available in lategame outside of NG+

I feel like money becomes a lot easier once you get to the third palace and treasure demon's can appear in normal battles. I made at least 150k just from battles before I sold loot. I'm really loving Royal and it's everything I wanted out of a Persona update. I didn't really know about the changes they had made to the game along the way and it really helps give it a nice life. I had mostly just heard about there being additional stuff regarding the late game. Just simple things like being able to see how close to a social stat level up you are or being able to do more things in LeBlanc or some extra cameo's really improve the game. The changes to how accessories work and persona's having built in bonus abilities feels great. This is a fantastic update.

The battles dlc might take a bit to unlock, but the game should point out when it's available. Try talking to the two girls in the Velvet Room to check. As for the personas, I think they should be available in the compendium. I think you can summon them once, even if they're too high-leveled. They kinda break the game though.

This is definitely the best Pesona has done with an upgraded version of the game. I'm in the exact same boat where I knew about the postgame changes, but I didn't think they'd change so much the entire way through. Changing up even the intro scene was a great decision just to let you know immediately, hey, everything about this trip is going to be different. FES/P3P were nice additions to the game, but this feels like a real victory lap

This is it, sorta Since I'd paused the game and gone back to the PS store, I had to completely restart the ps4 for it to recognise. The store showed I had installed the new stuff but when I checked storage-games-p5r it wasn't listed, even after closing the game. A full ps4 restart was required. Weird, but ok.

I'm finding myself constantly low on money in ways I was never in the original game heading into Palace 4. Thankfully I was able to get like 350,000 yen out of that dungeon. Now that Yoshida's Fundraising skill is actually kind of amazing instead of trash, the best way to get money is to use Chihaya's Money Reading, knock every enemy down and ask them for money especially if Fundraising procs, ask them again if you like the amount they gave you (or even a third time if you're feeling frisky), then All-out Attack instead of letting them go if you know it'll kill every enemy. You get pretty much every bonus at once. Got about 50,000 yen from a single Anubis fight.

I’m loving the Mementos changes. First and foremost the music is completely different and good once you get past the first two areas. Jose and all that he offers also go a long way in making the place feel more than just a poor man’s palace.

They make it easier to beat the first palace in one sesh but they certainly don’t trivialize the whole game or anything. Guns are just a good option you actually have now, though they are rather expensive to maintain.

Finally got to play around in the the first palace (I’m stuck at home but my kid get first priority for TV until after bed time) and got careless and attacked someone twice my level... one swipe knocked out my tank and caused me to actually look at what I got in the DLC for salvation. I learned real quick how technical damage can save your rear end. Gonna need to look into it more so I can utilize it more

Yeah. I just finished the second palace, and the technical combos (like Garu vs a burned opponent; Psi vs. a sleeping opponent; or Physical vs shocked opponent) has already saved my rear end a couple times since I'm kind of blowing through this somewhat underleveled.

Yo, if anyone is sleeping on the new confidants, do not. I just got (spoilers for the Faith confidant I guess) the ability to grapple to a shadow to start a battle with an ambush. Ultimately it's just a way to eliminate that walking up to them part but it still sounds cool. Just wish I hadn't got it the day after finishing dungeon 3. Got ages til I can try it in the next one now. Overall really enjoying this. I could see it being a drag or not that appealing if you'd finished P5 recently or had played it a couple times but as someone who got near the true ending and dropped the original at release, it's hitting the right spot of new changes and additions and keeping the good poo poo. There's a few things I would change for Persona in general (I really hate the "having to have a Persona of the same arcana for confidants/s-links thing, for example) but yeah, game good. The combat additions especially, I put it up to hard halfway through Madarames dungeon and it feels about right, though I do wish they'd let the MC go unconscious and let you revive them instead of game over.

I really like that they changed the intro to the second palace. I still feel like it could have been better, but they did the best they could short of rewriting the whole sequence. Plus Yusuke comes across as more sympathetic and a lot less like a creeper.
