Yep, that all seems way better than:Dick Jones posted:I'd be fine with the simple GTA-style system. At level x, you get a second character slot and you choose who you want to be at the title screen. You get to redo all the LeClerq/moonshine story stuff again with character 2, you share money but not blue tokens, you have separate honor levels, separate Outlaw Pass progress, and a daily objective is greyed out for that day once one of your characters completes it.

I mean I can see the appeal of someone actually wanting to roleplay as a certain type of character in the super-detailed western sim versus something like GTA where the plot is a big joke and of course your one guy would be a gun-running world-saving biker gangleader who also works part-time security at a casino and drives a pink moped. Like, the fact that there's an honor system would indicate different playstyles. Of course RDO is so bare bones and the honor system so threadbare and meaningless that doesn't really matter? But in like four years when there's a tenth of the story mode's content it feasibly could!

Running murderhobo at the moment myself - ragged overalls, grubby undershirt, rope belt and holsters, and the tobacco hat. Which all clashes with dual bounty-hunter Schofields, (usually) bolt-action and semiauto shotgun (both cloth-wrapped), and a maxed Criollo with that max-buff (Trader?) saddle, Trader saddlebags, best stirrups and panther-skull horse mask. Barefoot, of course, and I've been bandanna'd up lately for virus protection.

At chapter three and Sadie Adler wearing pants is freaking everyone the gently caress out. I also like how unashamedly capitalist the foreman of Appleseed Timber Co. is, "just because a couple of you got mauled to death by a pack of wolves does not mean you can stop working!" Also, John Marston, so dumb that having wolves eat half his brain made him smarter.

Deadeye and high velocity rifle bullets killed the cougar right quick for me. I've died far more often to random encounters with bears and wolfpacks.

I used the mining helmet whenever possible which ruined the mood of some of the more dramatic scenes but made that cougar one a lot easier since I no longer had to choose between 'hold light' and 'aim rifle' The real crime is not getting to take it to the trapper to make some kind of badass white fur cloak or something instead of getting like $150 or whatever

Wait, is this white cougar mission the debt one? Does KB & M just make the game that much easier? I dropped the lantern on the ground, pulled out the double barrel, waited for the cougar to appear and popped it in deadeye with a shot to the head. Bing-bong simple. A question regarding the challenges, I recall the rewards in RD1 were worth it. Are they still worth doing here? I’m largely enjoying doing them. Are the x-challenge belt/bandolier/holsters any better than the ones you can buy from the general store or is it just an aesthetic thing? I recall reading earlier in the thread going off and doing challenges while in chapter 3, I’m in chapter 3 now. Without getting too spoilery, how do I know I’m getting close? I’ve rescued Trelawney and helped him rob a stagecoach and I’ve done one mission for each of the families (burned tobacco and stolen horses). .

Legendary animals lose a lot of their legendary threat when you abandon the idea of "hunting" and just drop into deadeye to go full yosemite sam on them the cougar doesn't give you a huge window but it's still probably the easiest way to handle it.

Finally bought this game a few weeks ago and it's doing wonders to save my sanity while locked down. I seriously haven't enjoyed a game this much in ages. Right now I'm just very annoyed that the "cut loose" key is also the "kick to death" key if your not looking in precisely the right place

this game has more buttons than most flying simulators and there's a ton of overlap you do eventually get used to it but even one hundred hours in i still occasionally punch my horse in the face

I tried keyboard+mouse but it was frustrating. Too many menus that are all multiple layers deep. Driving a horse with an analog stick is much less annoying than WASD. I really recommend a controller. I never used one for GTA, but once you're used to it, it makes RDR much easier. Plus the auto-aim is ridiculous, I had no idea and it makes me want to replay GTA with that turned on.

I love the hell out of this game but yeah I have to admit it took a lot longer than usual to develop the muscle memory for what all the buttons do, there are a lot of different actions the game tries to fit into that controller.

So I decided to try and was my clothes for blood by swimming in the water. Not only did it work but you could see blood floating in the water as you swam. I also shot a duck plucked it's feather and left it lying, few minutes after ravens landed and started to eat the remains. Also, John Marston, still can't swim.

It's a steep investment for one game, but I got an Elite controller for Xbox. The paddles help, especially with being able to turn the camera while sprinting or horsing. It also helped with the quickdraw mechanic and a couple other things, since you can set the trigger and analog stick sensitivity to something comfortable. I was having trouble with a stock controller and the default game settings since I have a tremor in my right hand. https://giphy.com/gifs/blazing-saddles-14oUu8ZpAPuzZK I'm terrible at BB code and image imbedding. It's the scene you're thinking of.

RDO is very specifically designed for it since it was meant for consoles. Everything about the control scheme screams "controller required." Absolutely play on auto-aim. Everyone playing on Free Aim with a keyboard in mouse in Online ALL build with the Paint it Black card because it's basically required to hit anything. Much more variation in builds on auto-aim. And I'd change your auto-aim settings to Wide. Zesty fucked around with this message at 21:29 on Apr 10, 2020 |

There's a bug- and it's gotta be a bug, since it started with Moonshiners and didn't do this before- where the game will put you in a free-aim session if you touch the mouse or keyboard at all while first loading into online. You may not notice at first because you will still have auto-aim working, in this free aim session, but any friends who join you will have theirs disabled.

Zesty posted:...huh. That would explain a lot. It's an actual free aim session, as people who join you will get the warning that they're entering such a session (if they have auto-aim selected). There's no telling how many people in it actually chose free aim, though, vs how many touched their mouse while loading in and ended up with auto-aim on in a free-aim.

So I visited the gunsmith in Rhodes and discovered that he had chained up someone in his cellar and dressed him as his deceased son .After freeing him the gunsmith was so distraught that he didn't mind that I stole everything that wasn't nailed down. I also caught some klansmembers lighting a cross and accidentally setting themselves on fire.
