Yeah he does lay the gimmick on kinda thick, but mechanically he seems like the kinda guy you want on your LeMons team.

I can deal with VGG. The schtick is tolerable. I’ve got the latest one queued up to watch when I have time and power again. I do tend to watch him, like a lot of them, at 1.25x.

How do they work?

Bape Culture posted:How do they work? They're made of polyurethane, tradenamed Neothane by Goodyear. They weren't traditional belted tires, more just translucent rubbery plastic with an embedded mesh. The worked fine on dry pavement in the summer. Wet and cold performance was terrible (and rather unsafe). They never really solved it. Neothane belts and stuff are still available, but not tires. They were lit up with internal lights. The urethane was translucent, so they glowed.

it might work better if they put any tread on it

taqueso posted:it might work better if they put any tread on it The problem wasn't the tread. They had a standard amount of tread. The compound itself wasn't really suited to tires. They didn't handle heat well. Over 65 mph they tended to soften and start slithering around. Hard braking produced flat spots. In cold weather they got brittle. Hard cornering made them abrade like a pencil eraser. The lighting up part didn't work so well after a few miles of driving either, as road dirt obscured the surface. They were beautiful, though. Available in any color you wanted. Great for a show car you'd never actually drive.

Don't they already make color tires for those burnout competitions and what not? Probably not street legal but for a show or trackday might be an option.

Godholio posted:Electroplating? Yeah. I posted about me doing it in my thread, to varying success until I got a power supply with enough juice. Bad Obsession started with the right stuf, but even so had to fiddle a bit to get it working right. They covered it several videos back. BlackMK4 posted:you might like littlewheelsclub on instagram Yes and no. I like the style of the old-school wheels very much, and on older cars the sizing is fine (don't really need 18" rims on old Japanese cars...) I hate that there are no tires (in the US) that are worth a poo poo for them. It's getting to where 15" is iffy for tires, 16" or bigger is where all the good stuff is. Sad - I ran Toyo AVS-Intermediates on my OEM 13" RX-7 wheels - looked bad rear end with 205/60-13 (or was it 205/50-13?) Discontinued! There are like 2 13" tires in the factory size, much less wider/low profile. Part of the reason I went to a GSL-SE suspension and axle on my car was to get the 4x4.5" bolt pattern I could actually find wheels for, in sizes that I could buy tires for. BTW, here's the FB page for Love20bee https://www.facebook.com/love20bee/ - looks like the only wheels he's actually finished so far are the ZX wheels. The rest are mockups, so far. edit: I would *love* some 15" or 16" (at most) BBS deep-dish meshies on my RX-7. With flares, of course. The only ones I can find for sale today do have a tint to them but they're sold as for use for burnouts only, not even for drifting (let alone street use).
