Half Life Alyx has a fantastic reference and mechanic from Jurassic Park Trespasser. As you run low on clips or shells she vocalizes how many you have left. Some voice lines are identical or at least really close.

Hoping its a single player offline game though. I got the impression that its a live games as a service title like Destiny, and so hard pass if it is, but I don't actually know that.

I remember thinking the first couple shorts in Marble Hornets were creepy, then it slowly became many episodes of "I went out into the spoopy woods and saw a ghost!" "I went out into the woods to find the first guy and also saw a spoopy thing!" And this was repeated for approximately 739 episodes.
