The loving neighbours upstairs decided now was a perfect time to renovate their bathroom, thanks fuckhead. I've been listening to what sounds like a small jackhammer run since about 7:45am and that poo poo carries through the structure I tell ya what, it sure makes working from home hard Even the noise cancelling headphones don't completely block it out and seeing as I got an message from Auspost saying I have a delivery due, I can't keep em on all day and at full volume

ABC news is reporting that NSW students will be returning to school full-time starting next Monday. I wonder what the teachers' union will have to say about that. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-05-18/nsw-school-students-to-return-full-time-on-monday/12260252

The first I heard of any plans was the media reports and while I had my sucpisions that things where going to go back to normal after the education ministers rumblings over the weekend a week is not enough time to put anything into place. We've been told classrooms are safe as houses on one side of the coing yet on the other as soon as they leave your room they are expected to follow strict social distancing measures.

For some reason the only stock the local Woolies is constantly out of is paper towels. I doubt we'll see an explosion of new cases but it can't hurt to stock up.

Taking a math course over Open Universities Australia for the next six months, got all my uni stuff sorted except for math, which is fine because I don't remember poo poo, seems to mostly be year 11 and 12 stuff combined into one course, I'll smash it with the help of my friend Sal Khan from Khan Academy.

My pet peeve at work is co-workers not being willing to learn basic (yr 7-yr 10 ) subject matter. Or brushing off their deficit in science by saying " oh I'm more English brained" Like , we are specialised high school support staff. Maybe if you find year 8 probability insurmountable, spend half an hour watching some videos on it and do some scratch pad doodling on a lunch break

He was the first one in a while that was good during prac classes and didn't just support the kid he was there to support but also the rest of the class. He copes with the other classes even if they aren't his favourite. The vision support teacher I have in a different class is also great cause the kid doesn't really want her to be there but she does her absolute best to help out the kids in whatever way she can.

Our learning support bloke for manual arts was this guy in probably his 40s that walked around in footy shorts and there was a rumour he was from prison but he was pretty good on the tools Part of me has considered doing some sort of technical education later in life but we'll see where that goes

Same. I wasted half of my life perusing a tertiary education and developing an apparently in demand high level varied skill set in the sciences. But now I think I'm finally ready to spend a year or two getting certified to earn a living wage with stable working hours and reliable employment in the trades. I wish I was being sarcastic but gently caress this stupid job market.

Was on the FB page for my grandson's school last night and some parents are seriously pissed off over the decision for full-time attendance to resume next week. I can't say I blame them when no explanation has been given for rolling it forward by almost two months. I expect there'll be a high rate of absenteeism.

There’s been nothing of any description from the department either. All we as teachers have to work on atm is the announcement from Gladys and co yesterday. It’s gonna be a poo poo show and half but it’s also very much to be expected seeing as teachers have become a political football to kick around. I’ll be really amazed if a bunch of teachers don’t end up leaving the profession after the dust settles and I wouldn’t blame them for it at all.
