Just lean into The Onion Diamond Joe persona. Every time he's challenged he tells people "gently caress you, don't like it don't vote for me" which worked in the primary it seems, and he's gonna keep doing it. This "President Tweety" poo poo is focused group nonsense that's not gonna achieve poo poo because no one cares about the President's tweets. For the record, the guy is all-around awful, running a fully imperialist campaign and his Presidency will be an absolute mess with almost no real material change, but also I'm a firm believer in harm reduction and he's much preferable to the damage four more years of Trump would cause. I can't even bring myself to give a gently caress because Massachusetts hasn't gone red since Reagan and I hate both candidates so much. Lil Mama Im Sorry posted:Biden meant to say that you arent black if you havent seen The Wire We're in the hands of such dipshits and our entire culture is so loving stupid that I can't even be sure if this is a joke.

Plus, if you let Biden off his leash he's not going to just challenge Trump to do pushups, he's going to say a bunch of racist sexist poor-hating poo poo. Trump's supporters don't care about the fine details of what he's saying, because the bottom line is that he's echoing their racist, jingoist, gently caress-you-got-mine attitudes and delivered on what his affluent white base actually cares about : tax cuts. There are no material assurances under Biden's bluster and demented rants.

Everything about Joe Biden's policy record aside, there's a very credible account of him sexually assaulting a staffer, so he's a complete no-go from me.

If Capone was just him losing his mind, hallucinating, and making GBS threads himself the movie would be much better. Unfortunately, I guess Trank got a note that the movie needed a plot so we have this buried treasure story that can't possibly work when Al Capone is only sometimes aware that there even is a treasure. Deming's camera work and the weird sound mixing are the only real reasons to watch it.

Some time ago, possibly years in a previous incarnation of this thread, someone, I think it may have been Lil' Mama, posted some resources about union organizing. Does anyone have those still? I want to apply for a job as an organizer and want to learn as much as I can before I go through the process. It's a dream job and I want to give myself the best chance possible at getting it. Thanks.

Majkol posted:Some time ago, possibly years in a previous incarnation of this thread, someone, I think it may have been Lil' Mama, posted some resources about union organizing. Does anyone have those still? This is pretty much the book I direct everyone to that asks me about organizing. LaborNotes has suspended their online store but they have pretty much the entire book on their website: https://labornotes.org/secrets/handouts That’s a great general overview of strategy and tactics. For a good brief history of labor organizing (history is crucial for understanding what you’re organizing against and the pitfalls to look out for) check out No Shortcuts: Organizing for Power in the New Gilded Age by Jane McAlevey. I’ve found it useful for preparing for the inevitable Alinskyites you’re going to encounter, especially in leadership roles within unions like the SEIU. The best thing you can do outside of these two resources is to absorb as much labor history as you can, which is a wide and deep well (it can also be kinda expensive because a lot of the good stuff is out of print). Some personal faves: Hammer and Hoe: Alabama Communists During the Great Depression Black Bolshevik: the autobiography of an Afro-American Communist Reds or Rackets? The Making of Radical and Conservative Unions on the Waterfront.

Social distancing is over here (currently only three active infected and no new infections for a week) I'm at the bar. The ravens on the corner are feeding their young. The sun is shining. There's a shitfaced Latvian in a fur coat at the next table showing off his kickboxing moves while smoking like a chimney and ranting incoherently in several languages at the same time.

I have always thought that of the big stars Matt Damon has pretty good taste and choices. Clooney likewise. Philip Seymour Hoffman did pretty well. Robert Pattinson is heading that way.
