That's the kind of wrestling history we need taught in schools.

I'm pretty sure that this wasn't Cornette but its related to this: I remember seeing people trying to claim that the only reason that WWE and AEW were pushing Japanese women was to try and target anime fans; and that this was a small insignificant audience that they shouldn't bother with. Which is silly when you look at anime conventions and the success of streaming services and stuff and you realise that not only are there probably more anime fans in the US than wrestling fans at this point; but that they are 100% more willing and able to spend more money on it.

That's a pretty out-there reason to be pushing them, I'd imagine it would have more to do with the fact that they could generally wrestle circles around most other female wrestlers, since we aren't really that far removed from women's wrestling in the west being treated like a novelty sideshow and the wrestlers trained accordingly. Plus they all start training right out of the womb, it seems.
