Yeah I haven't watched or plan to watch Pat's Last of Us 2 stuff because it was blatantly apparent he was going in entirely to poo poo on it not actually enjoy it in any shape or form and that kind of stream is just no fun to watch. Whoever actually sent him an advance code on that clearly doesn't do their research, all you'd have had to do was check his twitter.

all i'm saying is that the much-vaunted masterpiece story of this game has already been done to death in every self-serious piece of zombie fiction that has been getting lobbed at our faces for years, so if they're going to package it into a game they could've at least not made playing it as much of a slog as its narrative so pat isn't exactly being a weird rear end in a top hat by immediately feeling that this game is kind of an underwhelming gruel with a thin layer of extremely impressive technical achievement laid on top

To be fair, Woolie has admitted to having gently caress-all FPS experience, and Doom Eternal is probably one of the most demanding FPS games ever that isn't a romhack. There's a lot of things to say about TLOU2 but between the more generally hackneyed "you're just as bad as the lynchers MAN" angle and the trans stuff I'm just like naaaaaaaaaah Mind even before anything about the game was out I was against a sequel from the start, but the stuff they've done with it sounds ATROCIOUS

I don't think it plays out like that but I've never really watched any misery porn so I can't say that with 100% certainty. I'm not trying to turn this into a gotcha or anything, my tastes are all power fantasy stuff, I don't even play horror games as an example. It's more just that actions have consequences and hunting someone down and killing them is going to lead to another retaliation and then the first party will strike back harder to make a point and so on and so on until you're like, stomping children to death and there's absolutely no turning back at that point. I'm a skeleton wearing a suit of meat pretending to be a human so maybe this is hitting less emotionally jaded people harder than me but it's not relentlessly Artax dying in the swamp of Sadness, there's genuinely more humor and levity in this game than there is the first one and that's not just because I'm 11 hours in and still haven't left the first town because it's the size of the map in Far Cry 2.

TLOU2 has entered the realm of the Last Jedi for me, in that I do plan on trying it, but the level of discourse surrounding it is so toxic right now that I know that I'm not going to give it a fair shake at the moment. Which is fine, I still need to beat the first one and the DLC anyways.

Watching the ending of the Kotor 2 twitch archive. Well timed wrapping it up just ahead of the Avelonne stuff coming out. That poo poo's vile man. I mean, it's not really that shocking, cause he WAS known as an rear end in a top hat, but it IS surprising that it was kept under wraps for this long for as prominent a figure as he is in the industry.
