I mean, at least the actual myths had the justification that lots of people actually pointed out that it was a trap, but they were either cursed not to be believed, or were actively murdered by the gods before they could tell anyone. And then they actually checked the thing anyway, but couldn't trick the guys inside into giving themselves away.

What's the best lore for DE hero and lord sorceresses? I started Malekith campaign, and I'm nearing the time where I start additional armies.
Is it still the best strat to have one designated slave province?

Fire is probably the best at outright killing. Dark is great at boosting winds of magic with decent spells all around. I've honestly never used beast magic. Death magic has a good vortex spell but is otherwise expensive. Shadows has decent damage with some solid buffs.

Personally I believe that damage is better than buffs especially at higher difficulties so I would go with fire with another mage going dark to use as a winds of magic battery.

Thanks! Another question: what's the best way of using Black Asks as Malekith? Should I park them with only admiral and let them grow? Or just don't bother with them.

Mmm, yeah, God bless EGS 'cause I'm not sure how well this would have done otherwise, lol.

This looks indistinguishable from all those lovely mobile strategy games that people shill at the start of their youtube videos.

It's the colour palette or something. It just looks cheap and cartoony.

Sorry, I thought I was posting it in that thread..
To end this Warhams 2 derail: Malekith might be emo edgelord, but he gets whirring blade vortex spell so soon and it's so cheap it's crazy!

Well, at least Troy is free. The whole "Truth behind the Myth" thing is so loving dumb, because I guarantee what they've come up with is nothing close to reality. There absolutely were not 7-foot cosplayers putting mammoth skulls on their head. The actual truth is that the monsters were just stories people told each other. Like every other mythical creature people like to talk about.

They should have just put an actual goddamn Minotaur into the game, at least it would have been more interesting than "here's a furry with an axe."

I'll see how the campaign looks and feels first. I'd never guess how much fun 3K hero units were going to be based on previews, back then it felt like something suited only to fantasy setting.

My main hope for Troy at this point is for some campaign improvements that carry forward, like the level of walls being a separate from the main build slots so it doesn't take one up. Food too.

3K was a step in the right direction for this by adding walls automatically when cities got larger, but I didn't like how you had to make the city bigger and make it a food drain just to get walls. They ought to make it a separate slot so you have have a smaller town but fortify the poo poo out of it if you want.

Truth behind the myth is that if this is on the Warhammer engine then he's probably using some recycled Orc animations.

An insane total war game where you start out in the Paleolithic era and it ends in the early bronze age would be sick

If they have crazy poo poo like mammoth/sabertooth cavalry, then sure, why not? But if it's going to be shirtless spearmannii vs shirtless clubmannii, then I'll pass.

Honestly, the main thing that interests me about Troy is the resource system. Instead of everything costing money, and More Money = Better, your army comp reflects the materials you can get your hands on. They sort of gestured at this with ThroB, where units cost both cash and food (so food-rich nations could roll with lots of armies, while food-poor ones would allocate their food to fewer, pricier units).

All right, there's a Steam sale and I MAY buy either Napoleon or Empire. They're $6.24 each. Which one should I buy? (or neither?) Attila is probably my favorite but I'm really loving 3k, for reference.

Napoleon is the better game but it's a smaller one lacking the Americas and India. Empire has darthmod which improves a lot but I think the ai is still a dumpster fire.

At 6$ you should be able to get enough enjoyment out of either to not be a waste.

The intro for Napoleon is great.

Started a Sun Ce campaign and my god these bonuses are nuts. Didn't take that long to push past his Luck mechanic and navigating his start was tricky but my court is massive and entirely unique characters as I steam roll the South and occasionally sack Cao Caos territories.

Huh...? Oh, this? Nah, don't worry. Just in the middle of some messy business.

Seriously. gently caress this guy. Most of my games turn into fighting this overly vassal-ed rear end in a top hat. Nuke him into the ground if you can.

The best tip is to specialize your provinces based on secondary settlement type. If it's made of farms go peasant, industry for mining, and commerce for trade and tea. Troop choices come from research not buildings which is different from other total wars.

Biggest tip for Three Kingdoms: mid-late game don't be afraid to disband your armies and call them back somewhere else where they are needed. The retinue system means your generals keep their units and just need to replenish them. You will struggle mightily if you have your stacks schlep the entire way across china. Techs and skills will improve the cost and speed

south is easy mode, north is hard mode

it plays like turbo-warhammer in that melee troops are trash (although might have been edited recently) and archers and shock cav are god

your three heroes have different unit rosters pertaining to their color/element, strategists are your only source of siege weapons and trebutchets absolutely dominate.

romance mode all the way

and yea everything feels samey
