I don't understand why injured players are being brought to Orlando. All this does is create more risk.

I think Stockton's assist record might be the most untouchable non-Wilt record in the NBA.

Yeah, I don't get it. Maybe the player thinks they might recover faster than expected? In that case you'd think they could just finish rehab during a 2 week quarantine anyway. I dunno.

Kidd is 2nd in assists and he's closer to 11th place than he is to Stockton. No one is going to get even close.

He's easily one of the more annoying former players on tv. One of the funniest things I can remember happening to him was Draymond mocking him during his farewell tour for expecting fans to treat him like Kobe. Draymond being the more likeable person in a story is rare.

Is Chris Paul the best player to never win an MVP? He's gotta be drat close if he's not. Elgin Baylor?

Nash was better, way, way better than Kidd. Kidd was very much an all around player, which should be better, but Nash was just light-years ahead on offense. Or decades ahead if you wanna measure time instead of distance. Any deficiencies he had in defense were exceeded and then some by being one of the best total offense players I have ever seen.

..... although, having Marion, Bell, and later Grant Hill to cover up his weaknesses on the other end almost certainly helped.

Also, Lebron has been the best PG of the last 20 years.

Worked for Fridays at the time, the big hitters were in Tampa and Orlando.Tourists spend alot of money at moderately priced casual dining.
Best actual point guard has been Chris Paul if we don't count success, just talent. Curry if having some rings count.

Late to Chris Paul chat, but the thing that always amazed me the most about him was how fast he processed the game in real time. I think it's also a big part of why he was/is such a surly rear end in a top hat. He can't understand why his teammates aren't playing 5 moves ahead like he is. Obviously people here have a good handle on the game, but I think most casual fans would be shocked if you told them CP3 was the second greatest PG all time. I'd put him over Stockton since Stockton was never the best player on his best teams. I think people overvalue the longevity and stability when comparing the skill level these two. If anything, the fact that Paul played at an elite level with multiple teams despite all his injuries is more impressive personally.

It's also bullshit that the biggest knock against him is that he Couldn't Get It Done When It Counted; he was routinely excellent in the playoffs

I think Chris Paul has a solid argument for being the best point guard of all time. Luckily he's an rear end in a top hat who likes playing boring basketball so I can just shrug it off when people underrate him

I disagree. Imagine if those old Thunder teams had CP3 instead of Westbrook.

CP3 is the best point guard to play for Houston, NOLA, OKC, and the Clippers. I wonder if any other point guard can claim GOAT PG of so many franchises.

drat KD woulda never left. we'd be talking about the Oklahoma City Thunder dynasty right now. asking if going 5 for 5 in championship series in the current day is more impressive than MJ's 6 for 6. never woulda got a GSW dynasty. wouldn't have been no 3-1 LeBron comeback. hosed up to think about how cool the Thunder could have been with such a small change

A team with Durant and CP3 and without Westbrook would be a lot less cool

Almost infinitely less

And they’d play the most horrific slowball iso atrocity offense it would be awful

I don't think swapping CP3 for Russ in 2015 or so would count as a "small change" lol. That exact trade was a huge deal in 2019 when people were questioning if one party was completely washed and the other was beginning the downhill side of his career, and neither was going to a top-tier contender.

On the flip side of this thought experiment, the idea of a Russ/Blake/DJ Clippers team is hilarious. An absolute non-stop highlight reel of 40-45 win basketball.
