Larvitar was the first community day I did and it's been my highest CP one ever since, and I still have around 150 candies sitting around. I guess it'd be nice to get a shiny (although I just know it'll be a 0 star one)

This thread, I swear I mean there's a difference between "I need to maximize research this month" and "eh, I'll get to it if I remember it" I actually don't have a shiny larvitar yet so I'll probably do the former, but Tyranitar's pretty meh nowadays regardless of moveset between CD Rhyperior and Darkrai

Research Breakthrough shiny chance for legendaries was 1/20, making the odds ~1/3 of getting one by the end of the month. Is that still the case for non-legendary? I would think it would be closer to 1 in 55 (egg / non-legendary raid chance) which is not great. I don't even understand how you could NOT do the weekly breakthrough. Aren't you turning in tasks any day that you play anyway? It's a great source for encounters and items with almost no effort beyond normal play. It only makes sense to me if you are taking time off from playing completely. Dr Strangepants fucked around with this message at 15:05 on Jul 1, 2020 |

You can continue turning in said tasks each day but just never complete the 7-day reward. There is no reason to do this, however, because it costs you dust, candy, and fun, and gives you absolutely nothing except the ability to make bad smug posts about how you don't complete it.

Like, "make three nice throws" and poo poo is really that hard? I guess if you don't have stops near you and you don't play, but otherwise in the course of playing you'll hit like 90% of tasks anyway.

Do you also pick up every gum-covered grime-encrusted penny on the ground too? The reward is so inconsequential as to be worth less than the hassle of remembering to get back to 6/7 in time for the next month. If a Trapinch spawned in my back yard every day for 30 straight days I doubt I’d even click it to shiny check nevermind actually throw a pokeball at it. With 6+ mobile games all fighting for my attention, it’s one less thing I have to remember. That’s infinitely more valuable than a garbage weekly reward. I bought some of the cheap plastic Pokemon figurines and trophies from Amazon and want to do something fun for the group I play with for Go Fest weekend. I'm trying to think up themes for them that aren't going to heavily favour the ones that have been playing way longer than others but I'm kind of stuck, would anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Catch a <one of the event Pokémon> that is as close to 555 CP as possible! (or 420 or 666 or 69 depending on the age group).

I've been doing well lately with my cobbled together oddball team of Zangoose, Ferrothorn and Gira-A. Weak to counter users and Obstagoon, has trouble with multi-charm teams, and yet it still does decently enough. I'm actually having fun during my sets, who'd of thought.

DeFit is a fitness debugger app that I've had great success with. I just hope it doesn't get too popular and then squashed, because it's really effective and I don't wan't to lose it.

So the next event is going live over in japan time, there's some challenge stuff (the researches that go on the left tab) that get you some neat stuff, but if you complete all 3 steps you get the ELITE challenge with the stupidest thing i've seenGO Fest Skill Elite Challenge posted:Catch 100 Pokémon - Poke Ball * 5

If you can raid legendaries somewhat normally just nanab berry them all to stay still during the catch phase and they're easier excellent targets than most things. Basically practice on anything that stands on the ground and isn't super close to you in distance. Most starter Pokemon kinda suck because they stand pretty close to you most of the time. When Pokemon are too close the angle is almost like you're looking DOWN at them so most of your conventional throws end up bopping them on top of their heads. BGrifter posted:With 6+ mobile games all fighting for my attention Not to bag on you but which ones do you genuinely spend some time on playing other than logging in to get daily rewards that most f2p games implement to keep you going? Because at some point it just sounds like a lot of chores, but I want to know which ones actually have fun mechanics for you to play. Willsun fucked around with this message at 21:19 on Jul 2, 2020 |

BGrifter posted:I am intrigued by this possibility of Blastoise being good. Shadow or normal? Community Day move? Blastoise is completely viable in Ultra. Starters as a general rule always want their CDay move (Sceptile, Serperior and sometimes Blaziken being the only real exceptions), doubly so when that's Hydro Cannon (just on energy cost alone, but the damage is of course great). Blastoise doesn't get huge Fast Move damage (unless you're running Bite, but, why would you?), so not Shadow. It needs its bulk.
