Part of being trans is having to constantly be caught up with whatever hideous TERF rhetoric is trending to protect yourself if you exist in any sort of public capacity, and it's exhausting because it's so constant. It is a very small group but the brain rot consumes them and they are literally on the prowl 24/7 for vulnerable people to jump on. Rowling is absolutely no different, because she will don a veneer of 'respectable discourse' and speak with assumed authority and then pounce on any target small enough to coordinate a hit on. Mental health is a deceptive term when used by a TERF, because they have absolutely no interest in people seeking out actual, proven methods of care. To them, mental health care is about having a "therapist" acting as an opponent to the patient, keeping them perpetually dissuaded seeking any real treatment. Suicide is an acceptable alternative; though they don't say this because they can't crouch it in the flowery language of "respectable discourse." They will apply this to any form of mental health that suits their narrative. They breathlessly repeat the same mantra, that they're compassionate, but the system gives the patient what they want too often. Medication is seen as a 'cheat' to them; a shortcut to happiness that isn't difficult enough, an unearned peace. I know what I'm saying probably seems dramatic from the outside but if you are trans or show meaningful support for trans people in any way, you are very quickly drafted into a culture war where every single iota of your public presence is scrutinized by white sexagenarians from the UK who have absolutely no greater passion or love than making us miserable. Sorry for the seriouspost; it's just an exhausting place to be. I try to keep myself focused strictly on the positive side of trans-activism, but it's too difficult sometimes.

You know what really grinds my gears? It's always the same poo poo. What JKR is saying is old, well-trod terrain for TERFs. "They're rushing kids into transition!" "They're gaslighting children into thinking they're trans!" "They want to invade women's spaces!" It's always, always the same poo poo. It's been stated hundreds of times by now, starting literally years, if not decades, ago. And it's been debunked over and over, every time it's been stated. But each time someone famous has a "middle-aged moment", goes full bigot and throws their hat into the ring, we have to relitigate everything. Never mind that they're the same exact points that have been said and debunked many time over before, they will fall back on that, as if they were absolute truths that are self-evident. And every time a bigot shuts up and leaves, another takes their place. So they have "fresh blood" every time, while we have to repeat the same thing again. I'm getting loving tired of having to argue for my humanity and my basic rights over and over and over again. I hate this.
