OwlFancier posted:I think engaging your vocal cords is somewhat involuntary when you sneeze. Some people do it, some people don't, but learning not to do it is kinda difficult. My dad, he practically screams when he sneezes. I can hear him through several closed doors. But if he sneezes in church, it's very very quiet! It seems like he knows how not to be an obnoxious poo poo in church but must scream it to the world in his daily life! FUNNY, THAT. It almost seems like he's not holding anything in, he's just screaming. This includes a string of swearing after every sneeze, and that's absofuckinglutely not involuntary. There are people who sneeze loudly and that's fine. There are people who do THAT, and they need to cut that poo poo out. here's some IOSM https://twitter.com/mandyekeroth/status/1285611839573893120

Saw this in twitter's "trending" sidebar. Yup, I sure am entertained by discussions of how small children were abducted and/or murdered.

They openly admit that their criteria only looks at outcomes and not intent. So a president that fought tooth and nail to keep a promise but didn’t succeed because they were kneecapped by outside factors counts as breaking a promise, but fighting tooth and nail to break a promise but being kneecapped by outside factors counts as keeping it. It’s an amazing example of being technically accurate in a way that conveys no useful information whatsoever.

Yeah, they called Obama's push for the LGBTQ protections during his tenure a broken promise even though he fought like hell and the GOP just laughed at him.

When I was nineteen, living with my dad, I made myself a quesadilla for lunch one day and dad's girlfriend (who, for the record, had just recently moved in but she seemed intent on being my mother and Being The Authority Figure, even though I had a perfectly great mother and also I'd met this woman less than a year ago) came in and saw me with tortillas in the frying pan, and asked me what I was making. I told her I was making a quesadilla and she snidely asked if that was a thing I just made up. I told her no and she snorted derisively and mockingly and left. I think of this experience every time I think of quesadillas now, and I wish I didn't because quesadillas are great. gently caress that woman and good riddance.

We made quesadillas all the time when I was a kid, although we called them cheese crisps for some reason.

Ambitious Spider posted:
Doing some reading about it and Yojimbo draws more directly from The Glass Key, also by Hammett. Dollars is just a straight up remake of Yojimbo. What's funny is there's a bunch of films that are remakes of Yojimbo and none that are directly based on Red Harvest, except Yojimbo.

Robin Hood, Kwai Kang Chang, Slimer, etc. It's less that (which does have a ton of other antecedents) and more direct plot details like joining different gangs to better play them off each other.
