I was sued for $3M and the case settled for $2,500. We’ll likely never know how that kid’s case ended, but it’s entirely possible it wasn’t for much more than what people had already spent in legal fees.

The :arzy: in me is worried Mitch thinks he's losing his majority and that Trump'll get beat and that their best chance is ramping up the economic anxiety and relying on Fox, OANN, and Sinclair to blame the Dems for everything getting worse. Predictions are pretty clear right now assuming no major changes. I'm not sure anyone is confident predicting what happens in November if the current stimulus and protection (eviction moratorium, etc) expire without replacement.

Lawsuits with the wealthy and/or powerful go only a few ways; they try to bleed you of money or if that isn't possible make it cost you in other ways. The kid's family are chud lawyers so the money isn't a option. Everyone has things they don't want out in public. There is a big difference between having a suit with Joe Blow and a major media company. The attorneys for let's say a CNN for example are going to have a team of investigators going through every bit of your life and try to dig up whatever they can. Who knows what they found, it could very well be innocent things that out of context sound really, really bad. It could be that the parents might have some small amount of decency and don't want their kid torn apart by heartless lawyers to try and make a couple of bucks that they don't need.
