Disposable Scud posted:Nemesis is an all time classic. Nemesis is fuckin' amazing. The sequels are crazy bad but Nemesis 2 and 4 (4 especially) are sort of compelling incredibly bizarre they are. The main character in Nemesis was originally supposed to be played by Megan Ward but he couldn't get the producers on board with a young woman as the action lead. I'm glad the movie has that other woman though who's rad af and named Max Damage like a real Shadowrunner would be. I love Nemesis so much and, I do appreciate the weird directions they ended up going in with the sequels, which again is bad but has some oddness (and a couple of good stunts) about it. One thing that is strange about Nemesis, like towards the end of the opening action scene Olivier Gruner escapes a rooftop by grabbing a drainage pipe and hanging on as it tips off from the building, with an obvious "we didn't want anyone to die" cut between the shot of him doing that and then him hitting the ground, and that's fine! But in the making of footage you can see they totally also got an angle of him taking it from the top and swinging away from the building and hitting the ground in one shot! Why would you not use that! Neo Rasa fucked around with this message at 21:11 on Jul 28, 2020 |

Man... I rented The Raid 2 on Amazon before I realized it only has the English dub for some reason. Should I just not worry about it? I mostly hate dubs.

Hate to say it but yea you probably will want to watch the subtitled version at some point because it's a much more complex plot than the first one had and there's a lot more dialogue.

Infection (aka Invasion) is a real trip, although that’s more for the horror thread. Nearly the entire runtime is uncut dash-cam footage.

Those are both pretty good and also really different from each other. Kickboxer 4 is especially interesting since one of the machado brothers is in it. It also has a very graphic sex scene about halfway through that feels like its cut in from a different movie. Also, its take on Tong Po is way stranger and funnier than the other films. It's hard not to get on board with him as he bounces his knees watching people beat each other to death.

Those are the reasons why it's last for me. Tong Po should've been a different character, that way it would've been ok that he was completely different, in Mexico and a drug dealer. And they wouldn't have had to put the actor in an appliance to look Asian. dokmo posted:You have to see Mean Guns, his Tarantino ripoff with mambo music and a Highlander and I think ice t, which had a decent budget for once. You've spent the money and it's a good gangster film with beautiful cinematography and amazing action sequences. If you hate the dub, turn it off. If you don't, you get your money's worth. A win-win situation, which is a better deal than anyone in the movie is gonna get.

Which is the Rutger one where he's like an alien hunter (or a hunter that is an alien?) with a throwable sharp disc that returns ala' Predator 2? I gave Nemesis (1992) a spin last night on the rec of some goons, and the film turned a soured Walrus into a wide-eyed pup filled with glee. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8EK-lCBaY0 As a fan of the (sparse) cyberpunk sub-genre, seeing not only an entry but a burning effigy of horny sci-fi goodness fills me with elation. Gunfight, gore, unnecessary nudity galore, with a story seemingly arranged by Tommy Wissou, this movie fucks. In 2027, everyone wears clip-on sunglasses and wield desert eagles. Watching a 100lb woman fire off a deagle is laughable, but so is every other creative decision in this whale of a title. A poor-man's Jon Claude walks us through gunfight after gunfight and never lets the audience forget that English is his distant second language. People stand 5 feet away from one another and unload machine guns at each other to no effect, repeatedly. Shotgun fire tank-level explosives but sound and operate the exact same as today's shotguns. There were multiple points the audio didn't synced with the action, but none of that mattered. Where some films follow normal logic, some dream logic, this film follow Big Dick logic. For these reasons Nemesis goes down as a Walrus Certified rear end-Slapper.

midge posted:Same as every Rutger movie outside of Blade Runner and Nighthawks? Has anyone seen Split Second? Looking for a copy atm. Surviving the Game owns, loving awesome cast. Split Second absolutely loving slaps because it's like MAXIMUM Rutger Hauer and he's dressed like Batou from Ghost in the Shell and it's in a future where everything is in a foot of water because because of global warming and the supporting cast is all chewing scenery, I loving love it. The best is his new partner, DETECTIVE DICK DURKIN who is like a total by the book dork but also super sarcastic and good. You will be legit impressed with his timing and the chemistry he has with Hauer as the movie goes on. The movie's only flaw is that the scene with his wife was deleted because you want more of this character especially after he describes his home life. The movie also rules because the creature you see on the cover, they were completely redesigning how the full thing would look ALMOST EVERY DAY and also why it was killing people as they were filming, and since the creature's motives/how it works/etc. was never totally agreed on by everyone the way it's actually dealt with is uh lmao I think the best description I could give Split Second without any hesitation, is it's like if a Darkplace episode with a mega budget. Like, absolutely seek this movie out and watch it ASAP, I think it should at least be on Prime. dokmo posted:You have to see Mean Guns, his Tarantino ripoff with mambo music and a Highlander and I think ice t, which had a decent budget for once. It looks fantastic too, Madhouse are probably my favourite studio in terms of style, everything they did back then just looked so good. Nemesis falls into that category of exploitation films where my wife won't watch it with me because it really drags in the middle. Right after the baller opening shootout there's this looong sequence where Olivier Gruner falls on his face trying to ape Harrison Ford's performance as Rick Deckard. Bronx Warriors 2 is one of my favourite movies, but it drags in the middle too.
