Dreylad posted:myth 2 is a fantastic game. the narrative is near perfect because the narrator isn't omnipotent so his limited perspective matters a lot. they use the dark setting to allow for some moments of real triumph (the mission "Redemption" being a big one). yeah they did a really fantastic job conveying the tone of a dude who is just part of a shoddy rural militia reacting to horrifying undead monsters. he’s self-interested and all the narration is framed around how the events he’s experiencing contribute to his relative likelihood of being hacked apart by a wight

Cultist Simulator got incredibly tedious once you get far into it. Unlocking new stuff does not allow you to automate the old stuff, no matter how trivial, so you are constantly bogged down from discovering the limits of the hyperreal and exploring all the cool eldritch entities by needing to regularly walk your dog and distract a policeman with shiny objects or whatever the gently caress. Even when you know exactly what you're doing and have no trouble doing it, it still involves an enormous amount of slog.

Broke out Tetris effect since my wife was sick of nioh 2 Played the best I ever have, over an hour straight on expert story. Hilariously, the timer caps out at 59:59.99 and doesn't go over an hour . Made it all the way to stage 6, very slowly!

Xaris posted:i blame game of thrones No, he explicitly doesn't want to do the raping, except maybe if it's not too graphic I'm also pretty sure he's talking about porn games where enemies can grab and gently caress your characters, since I can't think of any other games that have that mechanic. Maybe he means "fighting an enemy" in an abstract way, but it kinda reads like he's talking about a boss that whips his dick out and fucks you while you're trying to land hits on him

anyone got any sushi ghost tips? i got wrecked repeatedly trying to do the bow story last night, the double sword and big hammer guys just come rushing out and own me every time, but my deaths don't feel fair like in dark souls. they're always because of bad camera angles or because a dude comes stepping out from beside a rock or does three undodgeable attacks in a row and dodging takes me back into another enemy. is there any way to actually lock on to enemies or am I just gonna have to try to make this melee combat work with these terrible camera angles and arbitrary movements? seriously i can't comprehend making a combat system where you have to use square to attack but also have to constantly be rotating the right stick. it's just incredibly stupid. why not R1 / R2 for attack/power attack and square/triangle for horse and use? i just don't get it

The way around it is just don't attack until after you parry since you can't have your fingers on both at once. also god forbid you try to swap stances while there is a lootable enemy near you it could really do with a controllable lockon too, Jin will whiff attacks even in duels where he decides he's not gonna attack towards that target anymore. other than that the camera shenanigans is pretty much the same as souls imo, its just sushi has other weaknesses too that souls doenst

Yeah I don't want to get into spoilers but hzd is absolutely greater than the sum of it's parts It has a lot of open world stuff, and starts off really limited But a few hours in the plot let's you out of your pen, and you're given a far away destination that seems like something you shouldn't go straight at, because open worlds have taught us to do side stuff first. Except in horizons case, you absolutely do want to do this, because the combat system is kind of odd - better weapons don't do more damage by themselves , they have more options . And those options make the fighting a ton more fun, because you suddenly can go after weakpoints that change things up a shitload . In mhw terminology the three tiers of weapons would be like having charge blade that doesn't charge, then no axe mode, then the full thing. But you can go straight to the capitol city and buy the full thing fairly early. Only after that you worry about mods that up your damage On top of that , the sidequesrs aren't great but have some fun characters, and even more importantly, the story is great. There's some spots where you're just standing and listening/reading for a while to old stories but it works so loving well it really succeeds Another example of being greater than the sum of it's parts is climbing the watchtower to reveal the map. Same old poo poo. Except....you aren't climbing a watchtower, you're climbing something else that I'm not going to spool because it's awesome It's my favorite game on ps4 and I think should have the most appeal to everyone across the board.
