Holy poo poo gently caress 2020 sideways. What a God drat call I just had. Don't want to be too depressing but if anybody wants to know what it's like knowing when, where and how a relative is likely going to die let me know and I'll try to fill you in as best I can. Spoiler: its kinda good but also kinda sucks... Especially now.

Finished building a custom cable to power both backplanes on my new NAS because a stock one is impossible to find. Tested it out and all the voltage is in the right place! Went to button everything up and realized I'm short like 5 hard drive tray screws so it'll have to wait for another day.

I dont understand this. I'm remote to a system in India. It's appears to be an embedded device. The first thing I saw was a command window that a DIR reveals a sub GB sized drive. And some more investigation gives me..... Windows for Workgroups 3.11 I dont understand how this is working. I dont understand WHY it's working. I dont understand how it's even possible to remote view this screen (Apart from I jump from my workstation to a XP box that is doing the actual remote view to the WfW device) - I didnt think there was any utilities to do that???? I do not understand any of this and I'm still half convinced this is an elaborate joke. Can someone explain this because I honestly cant

I've already figured out to keep an eye on the pellets in the hopper, I thought there was plenty in there to finish the Butt, but instead of falling into the auger like they are supposed to they cling to the walls, forming a hole leaving the auger empty. Although it is a lot easier you still gotta keep an eye on it and can't just leave it unsupervised for 8 hours.

Metallica is doing a 'drive-in' concert across the country at the end of the month, $115 gets you in with 5 of your friends + a trunk full of hidden children and/or hookers and as much booze as you can carry. Listen to the show on your car's booming system over FM while socially distanced moshing with the car next to you. Rev your V8 wildly to annoy those around you/re-charge your car's battery. Seems p. deece for those of you lucky enough to live in the boonies where drive-in theaters still exist and who still enjoy "live" music and the general scene without having to (immediately) get COVID from the idiots around you. https://www.ticketmaster.com/encoredriveinnights (very good URL naming guys)

Okay I'm drowning here Where do I go to find out the mechanical differences between a Genesis G70 and a KIA Stinger? I keep seeing them mentioned in reviews as "the same car" and they do share engines and interior parts but the wheelbase is different and I know Hyundai and KIA are not 100% the same company and the '19 G70s are the same price as Stingers. edit: FOR EXAMPLE 2019 GT2 Stinger https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/inven...sting=278234516 2019 Genesis G70 Advanced https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/inven...sting=271879468 Rhyno fucked around with this message at 14:15 on Aug 10, 2020 |

Grill chat: we sell the exact same grill my roommate has at work. How the gently caress is an oldschool Kettle grill selling for $100?!? I finally gave in and got a holy pan - gonna come in handy to roast green chiles. There's a HUGE price difference between raw Hatch green chiles and roasted. I could just do them on the grill itself, but the tips tend to kinda.. fall down into the fire after a bit. Mainly gonna use it when I'm making fajitas and need to cook some peppers/onions at the same time tho. I got bit by the grill bug, goddamnit. We have some decent grills at work starting at $250ish (well, we have a propane one for $200, but... I'm digging charcoal). We have smokers up to something like $8k. Just sitting outside. (yes, I know that's cheap for a high end smoker..) bonelessdongs posted:what you can do is burn a bunch of paper towels soaked with ATF/motor oil and engine bay spice in a steel bucket and occasionally give it a squart of starting fluid or gas. It's great for tons of smoke + MASSIVE FLAMES when you give it the atomized hydrocarbons it craves That'd be a great idea if I didn't care about the other neighbors. I'm friends with the one on the other side of the house (duplex setup, so we each have one half of the house and share a common wall, common attic too, so the smoke would travel to his side if it went up into the eaves), and I'm on good terms with the ones next door. I kinda wanna keep it that way. Also would probably get both the FD and PD sent out, and likely tickets written since Austin is a pretty environmentally-conscious city. NumbersMatching320 posted:I find the spray just doesn't smoke, esp if you use the straw. You need a good quantity of the stuff to burn all at once for the vape action. I used the liquid - poured it into a clear water bottle, dribbled it into a hose attached to the port just behind the throttle body that the PCV normally hooks up to (originally tried the brake booster hose, but then looked at where it went and realized it was plumbed into the runner for #4.. so I was only hitting one cylinder). It came so close to stalling several times with that just-behind-the-throttle-body nipple. But with it being a boxer, I didn't want to risk hydrolocking it - it seems like there'd be no letting it just drain past the rings over time once it stalled vs an inline or V engine, and I don't want to deal with pulling the plugs on it again. There's nowhere for it to pool in this intake, it's almost like an old school V8 intake (except for a flat 4) - the runners just go straight from the throttle body to the intake ports. My old Altima.... yeah, a lot of it pooled in the intake - it had long runners that looped down a bit and then back up (KA24DE in FWD trim). The Altima didn't smoke much during the actual process, but when I took it for a drive.. holy loving poo poo, it was like whoever designed James Bond's smokescreen had an orgasm in my exhaust, and if I got on it hard I'd get a flashing CEL and some nasty stumbling. Then when I got back home, still pouring smoke out, I shut it off and the fucker kept running for a good 5 seconds off of the seafoam in the intake. Had to put it in 5th and dump the clutch while standing on the brake. 64bit_Dophins posted:Went to Pull-A-Part today and got nice and sunburnt. My neck is now literally red! I need to go pull a front bumper and at least one fog light for my car. Something bent/cracked the lower half of my bumper - it's resting against the fog lights (making them aim straight down, and preventing me from popping the tow hook cover on). One fog light is also cracked, and finally let enough mist/water in to shatter the bulb. Ex still has her base model Matrix. Still drives like it's brand new (I should know, I got to drive it with <3k on it), the only thing she hates is the paint is just (never get candy apple red if you want to keep something awhile...). I did plugs and a valve cover gasket on it the other day, was both surprised and sad at what I saw. Head itself looked really clean, you could practically eat off of the cams. Thick layer of crap around the timing chain though (where it'd been splashing against the bottom of the valve cover), but it's had the "I'll take the cheapest oil change you offer" specials at quick lube places from day one. Valve cover was seeping slightly, both externally and into the spark plug tubes (it's a one piece gasket that includes those, both factory and the Mahle I put on), but not bad - coils and plugs had a tiny bit of oil, engine-side of plugs looked about as worn as you'd expect on a 15 year old car with 100k. Engine doesn't leak anything. It's a solid car. Even checked the AC; it's never been topped off, and I was surprised it didn't need much to top off. One of the shocks looks like it's starting to leak a little, and the rear window struts like to give you a concussion, but aside from that (and paint) it's pretty mint. Some jackass had hammered the little plate under the oil filler with something sharp though, I guess they got annoyed at how, well, annoying, it is to add oil. I bent it back. I was supposed to do coolant too, but Rockauto didn't ship it (it's on the emailed invoice, but not the invoice included in the box the plugs, wipers, and valve cover gasket came in, and a refund for the cost of the coolant showed up on my credit card.. ). Turns out the Toyota dealer is downright reasonable for concentrated red coolant though - it's drat near impossible to find in general unless you like premix, and when you do it's something like $40+ a gallon (Zerex Red Asian is about $20 a gallon, but it's only offered in premix). They had gallons of premix for $24, or gallons of concentrate for $25. They're basically a Corolla with more utility. There's going to be so many of them still roaming around with the odometers maxed out at 999,999, so long as the owners don't drop the clutch on those glass gearboxes. (fake edit: you guys can drop the poo poo already... we're friends at this point, I made it extremely clear to her what she can and cannot expect out of a friendship, we're doing fine at this point - I'm not giving up a friendship of 27 years even if it got rocky as hell for a bit) randomidiot fucked around with this message at 15:34 on Aug 10, 2020 |

Godzilla07 posted:For once I was able to find useful written content on Motor Trend's website: Kia Stinger GT vs. Genesis G70 3.3T: Is Luxury Worth It? Oh, there you go! and holy poo poo, according to Wikipedia, Kia is "currently designing a Kaiser Jeep M715-type vehicle named the KM450 for the South Korean Army on license from the U.S. Government." Guys, Kia is going to be building new Jeep trucks. In personal news, it being 100 here in TX, the AC is barely keeping up, and apparently stressed out the 30A breaker i's attached to. It won't stay "ON" even with no load. It's not tripping, it just won't latch. Something broke or wore out internally. This is a bit of an annoyance, since my panel is a Bulldog Pushmatic, and you can't just step down to Lowes for the breakers. Had to order from, you guessed it, Amazon. They are still available new, at least. Otherwise it was used ones from eBay, which the current one for the dryer is - that one kept tripping only on one leg. Replaced with a used-tested one from eBay, and it's fine. It's also 30A, so currently swapped in for the AC. I'll swap the new one in when it gets here, and put the old one back on the dryer. Used ones start at $13, $25-30 for tested, "refurbished" ones from actual electricians on eBay, and a new one is $50, so I went new for this critical-in-Texas function. And there's crud on the fins I can't get off. It's like calcium. I suspect it's from the mister system I have, (which actually helped, but quit in the middle of July. I just noticed it not working at all and emailed them) but the mister has a built in filter to prevent that - mainly to keep their jets from clogging, so I don't know what this crap is. The coil cleaner I bought hardly touched it, if at all. *And* there are small sections of fins that have just... evaporated, which I'm thrilled about. May be looking at another outside unit replacement. I can't afford to replace all of it yet, not after the $10K roof a couple years ago, and the $11K plumbing this year.
