The cries of the dead are terrible indeed; you should try not to hear them.
I miss the non-social media age I guess. There seemed to be a pretty sweet spot of MSN messenger, emails and flip phones where connectivity was just right for me.

Nowadays I just shed all of it. No FB, insta, Twitter and all the rest. I can't bring myself to care enough about the lives of others, so in exchange I just had to disconnect entirely. Literally all I have is WhatsApp.

I'm not even so old by the goon standard, but I'm a born dinosaur I guess.

Nah social media just plain sucks. It was pretty good before they needed to make "all" the money. I liked seeing what friends were up to, now it's just one ad after another.

gently caress that. No twitter, dropped FB, no Insta. I still have LinkedIn but that just reeks of fakery. Look at us being corporate cogs! And the fossil fuel industry whitewashing itself.

This is me exactly too. SA is my only window into social media at all. My last girlfriend had like 1000 FB friends and every time she'd take a photo of me I'd have to ask her not to put it on FB because I don't want my life on social media. It was just second nature for her to put literally everything she did or thought onto a public forum for 1000 people to read.

I don't understand the thought processes of people who are extremely on social media, but I sure know enough of them so I guess I'm the weird one. I have a twitter that I don't tweet on but that's about it. I sort of forced myself into using Myspace/Facebook for a while when they were new because it just seemed like The Cool Thing to Do but ultimately pointless (like life in general).

It sort of sucks, you realize that all of your favorite things were from like a decade or more ago--music, movies, etc.

Nostalgia is strange because it doesn't matter what you were wasting your time with during your teenage and childhood years, all those activities obtain the golden patina of the irretrievable--playing GoldenEye on a small rear end TV screen while listening to The X alternative radio station in my room, or playing the MUD Dragonrealms or EverQuest, even those virtual spaces seem like lost Edens when they were just the things that burned into my brain at a vulnerable age.

My hand wields the might

A few years ago (actually it was more than a few years ago, so fitting) I went through a lovely breakup, and went back to the past to cope. I made a playlist of old ad compilations on Youtube from when I was a kid, and would watch them every night to soothe myself to sleep. I need it at the moment as the world is upside down and am going through another one, but the creator got their account banned so my playlist is empty now. :smith:
