Ok, here is a question. How do you cook up a pound of bacon if you have family and friends over for the week? I just slice that package in half and throw it all in, crank up the heat, and turn it over with a spatula or tongs until done. A big slurry of bacon grease and meat until cooked, but not overcooked, and then drained on some paper towels to get the excess grease off. My brother does a meticulous "one piece at a time" making sure each individual piece is attended to with proper dedication. I don't give a f either way, but his way takes twice as long to get the job done. Tell me goons, how do you cook your bacon? I bet we have some strong opinions!

Internetjack posted:Ok, here is a question. I line the bacon up on a grate over a cookie sheet and cook it in the oven. You can fit a lot of bacon simultaneously in the oven and the fat drips off, making it more crispy. Also it stays really flat which is good if you want to put it on a sandwich or something. Also thanks to the poster who mentioned the many kinds of cilantro. Maybe I'll get some different seeds to grow and try to figure out which kind tastes the least like Dawn.

Like the whole point of the thread isn't really about people with individual weird food tastes but that they insist on getting frothingly road rage homicidal about other people not eating exactly what they eat at all times

I loving hate pickles. gently caress pickles and gently caress you. When I was a child I ate too many dill pickle chips and was extremely ill after. (not sure if the chips where the cause or not) I was throwing up none stop and that taste keep coming up with it too. I can't do pickles now because of it. I'll pretty much try anything else though and I used to be more picky until it it dawned on me it was how bland my parents British style cooking was.

Yeah, I can understand not liking the texture of spring rolls. Flavorwise, it has to be made with really fresh ingredients for it to be good. As a sidenote, theres a place in Socal called Top Baguette which has these egg rolls which are loving amazing https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/top...ink&utm_source=(direct)

Canadian bacon is just a non fatty kind of ham. You need to have a thick cut of bacon that isn't %50 fat.

sweetness is an extremely important part of the flavour of pickles. it should be an undertone that can barely be tasted at all (unless you're making pickled sweet peppers, but then the sweet flavor has nothing to do with added sugars)

I was always under the impression that pickles were for providing a bit of sweetness to an otherwise savory dish. Like on a hamburger, or with some cheese or meat.

Son of Rodney posted:I was always under the impression that pickles were for providing a bit of sweetness to an otherwise savory dish. Like on a hamburger, or with some cheese or meat. WRONG. Pickles are for providing a tart, astringent bite that cuts through the other savory flavors on the dish. You ever try making a peanut butter and pickle sandwich using sweet pickles? It just don’t work

The bigger a pickle is the more salty/sour it ought to be The smaller it is it should be either sweet or spicy. See mini gherkins or relish.

You could probably prank this Texas lady by spending an inordinate amount of money and flying a pro pit master out from Texas but letting her thing the food was a local inauthentic recipe and she’d hate it.
