Butt first, let's
check the feeds.

I watched the Fox seasons on Netflix and the only thing I remember standing out was some Christmas episode or something that was put after a season finale that totally changed the status quo. Nothing else jumps to mind.

Its weird, I got through the Fox seasons but then lost interest in the Netflix ones. I don't think that was the Netflix episodes though. I think I was just burned out.

Yeah, I don't remember any weirdness in Lucifer timeline except the end of S3. The S3 finale is S3E24 (and is super-obviously the finale). There are then two "bonus" episodes (S3E25/26) which I think were supposed to land in the Fox S4 and Netflix was kind enough to let us see them. The story picks up from S3E24 directly to S4E1, but the bonus ones are kinda fun. Just watch 'em, it's not that confusing as long as you know they don't belong.

Yeah, it was weird but I don't think it affected the story or anything. It was just like "oh, these random episodes obviously belonged before X."

I am about to start it so... what's wrong with the Netflix order? I looked but just found spoilers.

I watched it when it aired and am assuming the Netflix order is the same as air date. Some episodes were shuffled. It will be obvious because there will be inconsistencies in relationships and character behaviors. In one season a new character disappears for a few episodes and the major seasonal arc involving that character just disappears for those episodes because (I'm assuming) episodes were shuffled for ratings or something like that. It makes Chloe and Lucifer's relationship in particular, confusing at times, and manifests in her inconsistent behavior toward Lucifer; also in her wardrobe (which I know probably seems like an odd thing to notice). From reading other comments it seems that people forgot or didn't notice which surprises me. I've never looked to see if there is a recommended order, just assumed there would be. I don't think it was a lot of episodes in total so it's not going to destroy the show but it messes up the flow.

I watched the first season of Stargirl which, for reasons I can't quite put my finger on, was pretty good. I mean, on paper it should suck: it's a superhero series and there have been veeeeery few of those that weren't a collage of suck and rear end, every character is basically just one single characteristic that is explicitedly and repeatedly 'acted' out, the two leads have zero chemistry (though that might have been intentional to keep it from turning into a PornHub category) and the plot has holes so large a dead lawyer on a hospital floor could disappear into them.

And yet, it works. Sure, it is drowning in patriotic-bordering-on-fascism imagery and themes (dear God that last scene), but it also has that precarious, Watchmen-like feel to it. And yes, just about every possible character and their relationships are incredibly derivative, but it still manages to portray them in an engaging, authentic way. I guess it is played straight, but not humorless, and it is upbeat, but not corny. Some stuff might get lost as the story progresses but in general, actions have lasting consequences, and plot driven confrontations never really feel cringy or implausible.

I hope that the second season will retain this knack for saving the show from itself, because all said it's a pretty entertaining watch.

I just saw this on Prime and started watching on the strength of this post because I also love terrible TV shows that are fun and enjoyable to watch and from what I've seen with the first episode-and-a-bit it's true. This one's one of the good bad ones that has me facepalming and laughing at the screen but I'm loving it. It's some dumb forgettable fun I can kill time with while I wait for the 100 final season to finish and then watch that dumb fun.

Bosch is, putting aside the complicated feelings associated with enjoying a cop show in the current climate, great. It will forever be my quarantine show. I won't be able to hear that theme without reliving what it was like in the first days of Corona lockdown. I think I binged all six seasons in less than a month.

Bosch is impressive for being consistently outstanding. My main complaint is that it's monotone much like Bosch himself, and all the detectives except maybe Crate and Barrel.

On topic of cop shows, I watched all seasons of Line of Duty recently. Netflix temporarily removed it due to some rights kerfuffle but it's back now. It's a British show about anti corruption unit and it's eminently well made and watchable show (if quite stressful at times). There should be more shows about cops hunting bad cops.

I couldn't place where I'd seen the lead actress in Stargirl before but it was nagging me so looked her up. Turns out I haven't seen her in anything before! She just looks exactly like about 4 or five different actresses who have all played similar roles in similar shows that I've watched over the years, which for the life of me couldn't name if I had a gun to my head.

I just binged Foyle's War which has a fair bit of this in it. It's a British police inspector and his plucky lady driver, solving crimes during WWII on the "home front." Fighting against police and military corruption (and/or homegrown Naziism) is a big factor in like half of the episodes. It's also just a really good show.

Father Brown is a wonderful show. I find it very wholesome and it puts me a good mood. The series isn't on Netflix anymore, but it's all up on Britbox (which also gives me an excuse to watch stuff like Black Adder and QI).

I've just finished Ozark and ho-boy, second to last episode I found annoying despite some amazing acting Ben's actor plays his breakdown so well, while I'm also constantly getting annoyed at the character just being so stupid but the finale was incredible, new lines being drawn and turns out Helen should probably not have assumed that Nelson would let her know if he got 'the call' just because he said he would

To be honest I feel Bens stupidity was almost over the top. It felt like the writers taking too many measures to make sure it seemed like our protagonists had no choice but to try to get rid of him. Like cmon the man is calling cartel operatives directly and trying to say "im sorry"

Honestly, felt exactly the same, it felt frustrating to watch. It was obvious as soon as he just kept trying to get in touch with people to apologise that this was only going to end one way.

Speaking of mysteries I started S3 of Bordertown (Sorjonen) on Netflix and it doesn't feel as tight as previous seasons, still a good show. Wife and I are watching Broadchurch (Brit). I've seen the sucky American remake and expected the Brit version to suck but it doesn't.

Anyone know what happened to Fortitude? They only made 4 episodes for S3 and they aren't streaming anywhere. Was it concluded or cancelled mid season?

Falling...
I've watched the first five or six episodes of Person of Interest. It's an entertaining (dare I say interesting) show, but it's a pretty big dude-fest so far and sometimes the leaps of logic make my head spin. I can feel a metaplot bubbling under the surface, but I don't know if I want to put up with Reese's knowing smiles and Finch's smarmy quips for another fifteen episodes to get to what I assume will be the real meat of the show later on. I have been told it gets very intricate as time goes on, but I've yet to see it.

I also watched the first episode of Cobra Kai. That was a blast from the past and I love how they've focused in on Johnny and his perceptions of what happened in the movie, thirty plus goddamn years ago. I'm looking forward to the resurgence of the Cobra Kai dojo and the inevitable clash between Daniel and Johnny as they both seem to just can't let go of that 1984 tournament.

I recently finished POI thanks to this thread, and I’m super glad I stuck with it.

It definitely starts to find its footing in the last half of season 1, then it’s a wild ride from then on out.

It’s also one of the few shows that has managed to completely change my view of a character. I hated this character at first, and just wanted their scenes to be over. But then some great character development happens, and all of a sudden I’m rooting for them (unintentional I swear lol) and want them to succeed.

hah, I actually found Reese to be fine; his woodenness played a nice foil to Finch and Fusco, like a budget Geralt or something. Root though... I couldn’t stand her, it seemed to hit all the “malicious hacker villain that’s got a troubled past” tropes I dislike.

So when the show expanded her characterization, I was genuinely surprised. They didn’t try to erase her awful behavior or explain it away. It just got slotted alongside the good things she did as part of her personality.

We just watched High Score on Netflix. It's 6? episodes investigating some of the leaps in the video game industry from the late 70's through early/mid 90's. The episodes often feature developers a player who recounts their experience at a tournament. My wife has zero interest in gaming but she really liked the show, particularly the 8-bit animations they sprinkle in as re-enactments under a voice-over, plus the interviews with players mixed in with home video of them as kids at the tournaments. It hit some nostalgia for me (I'm old enough to remember most of the games they talk about) too.

My lastest half hour comedy was Mom which was alright for a standard comedy. Kind of bizarre/funny how they pushed Christy's kids completely out of the picture and focused instead on the adult group which contains her mom, but both Allison Janney and her character do kind of steal the show.

Although I do feel rather unsympathetic towards Christy's adult child and kind of feel like she was in the wrong in her last appearance.

I'm in s2, it's becoming more of a team including 2 women. Reese and Finch develop more of a relationship but if you don't like the banter, it doesn't go away. The dedication to realism in S1 slips considerably in S2 but it's still fun.

Someone said Reese was wooden and I disagree, he's broken, betrayed, trained as a killer so he can't be ruled by emotions so he's basically trained into a sociopath. From a story perspective every member of the team represents a personality trait Reese lacks.
