Ebay has a coupon HAPPY25. Gives you $25 off any purchase over $25.01. Seems to be given out older accounts so YMMV. The email also told me that my first purchase was this record. https://youtu.be/JXtJEzvzJT8 which is still one of my favorite records. Anyway I used the coupon to buy this record https://thevinylfactory.com/news/analog-africa-cumbia-ranil-y-su-conjuto-tropical-vinyl/

Kinda want this but I've spent way too much on records this month.

My eBay account is from 2006 which isn’t old enough I guess. My first account is from 1999 but I haven’t had that one since uuhhhhh 2005.

Damned shame.

Also can someone do me a favour and explain what that LitA record is about?

How old does an ebay account even need to be for that thing to work because I also got the "Fugg yew" and my account is from 2006ish as well.

Now, the iggy pop live album from 1991 that also released the same day.... what a fuckin show.

Also, I didn't not expect the internet to melt down over charlie XCX and robyns RSD releases (and rough trades and amoebas website :v:). I really felt bad for the woman behind us whos only want was the robyn LP. Sucks for her bigtime, we were all in line for hours.

Since the code is HAPPY25, I'm guessing it's for people with accounts from 1995 when ebay first started. Or maybe any accounts from that first year (so some 1996ers). Just a guess though, my account is from 2006 as well (what was it about that year that made us all sign up, haha).

I was considering getting that but I like like "Eehhh I have too much crap already and I should not spend a bunch more money on records.".But that seems like one of the ones no one's going to give much of a poo poo about later. So I'm not too worried about it.

I remember doing poo poo like this. When I was about 12 or 13 I found a lovely Angelfire or Geocities or whatever webpage a guy used to sell a bunch of bootleg tapes of poo poo. Being as I was at the age when I was watching all the endless sequels to the various 80s horror franchises I was obsessed with seeing the alternate version of Halloween 6. I probably found this webpage from searching that on yahoo or ask jeeves. Anyway, I got my mom to get me a money order to mail this random guy and eventually I did get the tape. The quality wasn't great but I felt like I found some rare artifact that no one had ever seen before. He had all kinds of other stuff on there too but I wasn't hip enough to know what most of it was at that time. I do vividly remember that Turkish Star Wars (listed it as "Turkish Star Wars ripoff") and the X-Rated cut of RoboCop were on there. I didn't know at that time what the X-Rated version of RoboCop was or why it got that rating (or that the rating was ever given to non-pornographic films) so I assumed it was a porno parody. It's too bad I wasn't more in the know, he probably had a lot of gems. The idea of sending some random weirdo from the internet a money order and hoping something actually shows up seems ridiculous now but back then it seemed reasonable enough. It's also weird to think that if you wanted to buy poo poo through the mail from non-internet weirdos you had to have an actual catalog, fill out a form, mail a check or money order, and then just wait. And it always seemed like forever. In summary:

Sure the internet managed to poison the brains of every generation it touched, but I don't miss trading weird movies on VHS (three to a tape recorded in SLP dubbed off of 10th generation copies, so you know it's good) over the internet when they're now up on YouTube in 1080P for free.

OTOH i still enjoy the 20 episodes of 70s SNL that were bootlegged from the 8H archives with original commercials and house band music that i got from my turn of the century tape trading days. Good luck finding those online!

One episode per tape, no pausing for commercials, less you accidentally chop off the opening fade-in of a show. Respect.

I did this for all the Sci-Fi episodes of MST3K.

Getting into vinyl a little bit again. Being a 35 year old, I grew up in the 90's where vinyl was completely dead compared to CD's, but my parents had a pretty cool collection that I listened to growing up.

Saw that Robyn as doing a repress on RSD, so picked that up together with some other albums I enjoy.

Just arrived. I dont think these are new promos for the new reissue. I think this may be the old promo reissue from years ago because the outer sleeve is beat to hell and has a lot of ring wear with a sticky residue sticker remnants on the top left. Definitely smells like its been sitting in a box for years too, a bit musky.

it was still in shrink wrap so I don't think the original owner ever opened it. There's only one on discogs and it's listed for $67. I paid half that. Also discogs said it's never been sold on their site before.
