I have no idea how real sports work and to what control the teams/league have over those Athletes but (surprise!) they usually have unions are are EXTREMELY well paid at the professional level most of the time. But WWE is Sports Entertainment, so it'd be like telling Bryan Cranston while he was doing Breaking Bad that he cannot appear in any commercials or other endorsements because it might hurt the Breaking Bad Brand. The WWE must be jealous of idol culture in Japan and Korea where their company controls literally every single aspect of their life, and scandals like having a boyfriend without permission is grounds to blackball that person from the entertainment industry after dragging them through the mud
