Plan is to do the little bit of bodywork it needs (only 2 spots of rust on rear fenders) then this winter the engine comes out and depending on what I find either I'll rebuild the 360 or do a swap.
I've actually had it for a while, ran up to Colorado and trailered it back to NM the week before Covid shut down both states but I was working on the '47 CJ2A you can see and my 73 Super Beetle to get both ready to sell.

That owns. Too bad it's a smog year. Friend of mine has a '74 wagoneer in the same color, but I'm really liking the 2-door shape here. I didn't know they had 2-door FSJ wagons.

I love the RS3, but I was astonished to learn that at the price point it had completely manual seats. I'm still annoyed that my fiance's TTS doesn't have memory for the seats.

That being said, if I didn't feel compelled to maker my next car purchase an EV I think I would really enjoy the RS3.

Unfortunately, it isn't plated / streetable as-is. I can plate it here in Arizona, but it needs some headlights (gutted now), stock mirrors (has convex mirrors attached to the cage), and collectors insurance (no emissions) since it is on a Haltech ECU :smith:

You can probably get away with 2 of the three here but.."I didn't know my headlights didn't exist oh and also that's a race ECU" is a no-go in Emissionsland. That's too bad. That car looks insane, congrats on another wild one.

Yall both right, I need more garage. Also, the S2000 has a wing too, I just don't leave that trunk on it since I drive the car to work occasionally. I'm starting to part out all of the expensive stuff and it'll be pretty streetcar again.

Charles posted:

Don't tempt me, some local dude has one of the ex-race cars and it is pretty quick.

FWIW, I'd never even sat in a Miata before I bought this. It feels like a tin-can compared to the S2000, but there is surprisingly more cockpit area room since the transmission tunnel is smaller/lower, the steering shaft is smaller, and the doors are gutted.

Need to dyno it for classing, figure out a quiet exhaust option (it is vbanded near the rear diff), and clean it up a bit. I have six events back to back in Oct/Nov.

Longer term it'll get BMW MK60 ABS and an electric steering column.

We had a delivery last night

It's a 1970 with a 455 swapped in from a 1975 with unknown modifications. Obvious modifications to the car itself are the formula hood, t-tops, shaved door handles.

It's been pretty much sitting for 15 years. My father in law impulse bought it in on eBay after he and my wife watched Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, and we've been joking half-seriously about adopting it from him for the last 10 of those years. When my next door neighbor sold his house and offered to sell his lift to us for cheap, my wife asked her father if he'd send the car to us if we had a lift. So we bought a lift that came with a Firebird, essentially.

Known things we need to look at / address:
- tires are ancient and need to be replaced
- probably needs a new starter and maybe a new ring gear / flywheel; makes a real bad screeching noise if you try to start it too quickly
- takes a serious amount of throttle to get started and real good bit of warming up to idle consistently
- there's a wiring issue with the door release on the driver side; only the passenger side opens reliably and the driver side will sometimes open itself (hooray)

At any rate, excited to have a stupidly loud car that I am actually comfortable working on, and a nice space in which to do so, even if it will be the slowest of our vehicles.

If you are going to replace the starter throw a mini starter on it. The way the headers run on the Pontiac v8 the starter can stop working from get soak. Also enjoy those parts prices :v:

Thanks for the tip, I'll look into that. I'll be honest since this has mostly fallen into my lap, I have no idea if the parts price comment is sarcastic or not.

...can't possibly be more expensive than parts for the RS4...right?

There are parts out there for Pontiac v8s but they are not cheap. Since the gen 2 firebird is just a gen 2 camero with a different nose you will be good for everything else.

It's sort of funny to me; I think the newer electronic door handles on Teslas and the like are absurd. But I can't hate the same problem on this. Maybe partially because if it just broke forever I'd probably be okay with only ever driving it with the t-tops removed and windows down anyway.
