MM was always the coolest of the Boys, as proven by him making those goofy rear end over the top glasses look cool as hell. Also, being from Oakland originally, I really appreciate his People's Food Program shirts.

I really hope they get more into his backstory because despite a few issues, I always did like the thing with his dad and I would have much rather read a mini series about him than basically any of the mini series we actually got for those comics.

Interestingly enough he refers to his father's crusade as a disease, so I'm wondering if he's aware of his own OCD poo poo and was worried about it going to his daughter?

I like that having various ways of reading it.

He got probated earlier I think. I also don't think they're doing bans at the moment to avoid giving money to you know who

I'm not sure where this supposed redemption arc is supposed to be coming from either. "Look, she might have killed 59 people but she didn't kill the other 100+! Progress!"

I definitely agree, I hope the show goes more into it. I'd honestly be shocked if they didn't, although it might not be this season. I am kind of glad the comics didn't though, because while he was still interesting (and my favorite member of the team) MM's personal story was such disgusting over the top edgy bullshit in the comics it might be better we didn't get more.

The poo poo with MMs crack addicted ex wife pimping out their twelve year old daughter to star in porn (because she has matured physically incredibly quickly and looks like an adult due to the compound V in her blood stream) struck me as a really gross and transparent attempt to be shocking even when I first read this as a kid. And I was a stupid tween boy with stereotypically bad tween boy taste who thought grimdark and edgy automatically meant mature and adult.

Oh, yeah, literally every other facet of MM's story is god awful, even the stuff involving his mother outside of the flashback where he talks about his dad. But the scene with his dad was mostly good, at least.

Yeah, totally. I feel like theres the skeleton of a good story and alot of really cool ideas and characters in the comic, as the show is proving. Ennis just dumped so much unnecessary rape and grotesque brutality that it's an unpleasant chore to slog through alot of the time.

I feel like you could apply that last sentence to literally everything he does. There's usually a glimmer of a good idea in there, there might be bits and pieces of a really cool concept, character or an idea worth following but then five pages later a hamster is crawling out of a dead man's anus.

Pippi Longstocking is old as hell, first book published in '45. The character is internationally beloved, but is most popular in Germany.
Maeve means "intoxicating", interesting choice to have her struggle with addiction.
The boys' storefront not only had that liberty poster, but one for Popclaw's movie Terminal Beauty (with Billy Zane).
Having Liberty advertise a douche is extremely 60s.

Nice catch on Pippi Longstocking!

I think the reason we have not been showed Liberty force lightning the poo poo out of the black guy she kills in the flashback is either:
- Stormfront/Liberty is a sadist on top of being a racist. She doesn't zap Kenji to death, she kills him by hand while commenting on how much she's enjoying his suffering probably hinting at her redemption arc.
- She's in incognito - her previous Nazi supe persona was a lightning wieilding one, so Liberty has not to show her powers. Her next incarnation, Stormfront, is free to use them as no one will make the connection. Not sure about this one though, we'll have to see if the world at large even knew about the Nazi supes to begin with (not the case in the comics and I would say even less so in the show since compound V was a secret till recently).

The show is pushing really hard towards Homelander's God complex alienating and/or terrifying everyone around him, and most of the 7 have way more agency that they had in the comics. I wouldn't be surprised if the long term story goes full on "reap whirlwind" with his minions rebelling against Homelander and working with The Boys to take him down, especially if The Boys keep being non-V'd up. If that's the case, it's probably going to be a will-they-won't-they thing with some cracking and going back to HL's bosom (:v:) and some standing up for them.
LARGE SPOILER FROM THE COMICS I've always found it really well done when Maeve, whose always been said to be the second most powerful Supe in the 7 finally goes against Homelander and she breaks her sword on his head, with no effect, gets reminded that the sword is just a prop for marketing and then gets her head knocked clean off her shoulders with a single punch.

I like the user review saying "I dont have time for this poo poo" @ the show being a once a week release. Like... you're not spending more or less time watching it, it adds up to the same amount of time spent. Difference is now you can actually retain memories of what you're seeing instead of binging and only remembering like the biggest plot twists and action scenes. I remember trying to talk about marvel shows with a coworker and anytime I'd say the name of a character he'd go "which one is that?". Literally nothing retained

That's the reason it's such a good writing decision.

It's a character that has changed with the time, but was originally made in Germany ~1945, if you will. A woman that doesn't care what the men think and is so strong that she can lift a horse with one hand? It's almost like she was talking about someone else!

Wasn't it established that trying to get juiced on Compound V as an adult is usually fatal? Though I could certainly see someone using it as a last-ditch attempt to recover from an injury that would otherwise leave them disabled or dead.

Yeah in the show at least Compound-V is bad for you unless you have won the genetic lottery - Shining Light has dosed Kenji specifically cause Kimiko had survived the procedure. I guess Vought is actually good at selecting potential candidates.

Just to correct a misconception, Pippi Longstocking is swedish, as is her author, Astrid Lindgren. It doesn't diminish the connection that can be made, but Stormfront probably wasn't being quite this literal.
