If you are stuck at home and just want to play a nice mix of "dream pop, shoegaze, post-punk, ethereal, with a splash of trip-hop, darkwave", then give Big Sonic Heaven a try. It's streaming 24/7 without ads and is pretty drat good.

Felt was its own unique thing, that particular record sounds dream poppy because it was produced by Robin Guthrie. but everything they put out is worth listening to, one of the "shoulda been huge but wasn't" bands.

Yeah, I recently discovered them and was wondering why I haven't heard of them before so they never made it big.

Black Ship in the Harbour is a great song. thanks for sharing it was not on their Spotify catalogue, It is missing most of their stuff.

Felt was one of those niche bands that briefly stepped outside their niche to make a song with broader appeal, but couldn't add the new audience to their regulars. Canonical examples are Pepper by the Butthole Surfers - that song was everywhere for a while - and Sparks Are Gonna Fly by the Catherine Wheel.

My favorite Only Shallow memory was driving into an unfamiliar city to get gas on a road trip and getting routed into the first multi-lane roundabout I'd ever seen. I had a complete anxiety meltdown, started screaming over my steering wheel, suddenly in a hot sweat even with the A/C blowing...and then Only Shallow shuffled up on my MP3 player, and it was like...oh. Never mind. Everything's fine. It was like an audible shot of morphine straight into my brain.

Listening to it now. Sounds good to me! In terms of composition/structure/etc. Maybe a bit more ethereal/shoegazey on some tracks than their previous works but that's A-ok for those of us reading this thread, I think. Only thing is something sounds slightly off, either it's these headphones I have for my PC (some cheapo Sennheisers) that I normally don't listen to music with, or there's audible audio watermarks in the feed on the website. And yes, that's a thing, mostly by UMG label digital albums from more mainstream storefronts (Google Play), and it sucks. I've never had anything I've bought from Bandcamp contain audible watermarks, but I am hearing something a little weird

They have CDs available for pre-order, I might just do that.

It's the titular track of 'Heaven or Las Vegas'

That album is to Dream Pop what Loveless is to Shoegaze IMO.

Whoo that was a quick response, thank you both. Ken Andrews (probably my favorite artist) had an interview with Matt Pinfield a few days ago and he (Andrews) said Treasure is one of his favorite and most influential albums, so I put it on my list. But looks like I'll be putting this one on there too.

Speaking of which, it appears Google Play is going away soon. Do I need to switch to Amazon digital if I can't find CDs of albums I want to buy? Or is there a better platform for more mainstream stuff that's not on Bandcamp? I'm not ready to take up streaming, I like having my entire library that doesn't require an internet connection to enjoy.

all the big digital stores are about the same in my eyes, not that i'm an expert. if you don't want to give them money i guess you could just go on soulseek and download it and then buy a t-shirt or something.
