Some of those leading spokes on your rear wheel look like they're taking a sharp turn at the nipple. Is that more normal for small wheels?

Yeah these wheels are weird.

The best part is that it’s a legitimately good bike, almost shockingly so.

The frame is sick, but purple and red seems pretty dissonant. The Photoshop with the black tape and seat looks better IMO.

jumps between gears, but there are some okay 12sp options now assuming you’re not climbing at all

iirc SRAM was pushing this when they first launched road 1x11, with a 52t (or so) chainring

The Renegade I’m looking at is the Force 1 11sp 1x and was under the impression that a gravel-oriented 1x is manageable. Is that not really right?

You'd probably want a 2x drivetrain if you're planning on doing fast group rides on pavement. For any other application 1x is good

It’s totally fine, I wouldn’t want to race a 1x TT or road bike, but for just farting around it’s fine.

Between my cross bike and folding bike I have what’s essentially two 1x road bikes, they’re absolutely fine but sometimes the jumps between gears can be annoying.

This is a good and correct take, although a 40t ring is also good if you climb a lot.

With something like that you could even run a narrower range cassette with less of a gap between gears. It'd be revolutionary!
