So I guess they decided not to abandon Ant Man after all?

Was that really on the table - especially with Evans and Downey bowing out of the franchise?

I admit that I'm glad. I liked the Ant Man movies. They were a nice break/palate cleanser from all the "No! The Garglefartkins are going to super-destroy all of the the multiverses!" With Ant Man the stakes are high, but limited and more personal. "We'll lose my mom forever." "I need to keep my business open and stay out of prison." "If I don't get the cure, I'll literally disintegrate." "If I don't get that lab, some scary-rear end folks are gonna serve me as dinner in my own restaurant."

Those are good stakes because they're high for the people involved but still aren't "If we don't stop Walter Goggins, he's kill half the universe." Which is a nice break.

Walter Goggins always plays super progressive characters even though he's a die-hard Republican.

He's arguably center-left by American standards in Hateful Eight, but I don't know about super progressive.

Doom should just copy the comics and cast Vincent Cassel. The man can do arrogance and smugness like no one else.

I don't see anything anywhere about him being a republican and I don't think I've ever seen him play a character I'd call remotely progressive.

Walton Goggins is a great actor and his performances imo can steal the show.

Yeah, I’m trying to think of any character of his that could be termed super progressive and nothing is coming to mind. There’s a lot of psychos, assholes, and crazy rednecks though, not that those couldn’t be progressive too I guess but it’s not exactly their defining feature.

He absolutely rules. I hope he continues to work with Jody Hill and company in the future as well, he juggles comedy and drama so well he's a perfect fit for the kind of stuff Hill makes.

Never watched SoA, but I did watch Justified where he was one of many good things.

I just remembered that Margo Martindale is Ma Beagle on the new Ducktales. Now I kind of want Goggins to show up there playing Boyd CROWder.

Bonus points if they could somehow get Kaitlyn Dever to do a bird/duck version of Loretta McCready, who is one of my favorite child/teen criminals ever.

Cassel is the obvious choice but also the most boring. Tony Leung would be nearly perfect but they're wasting him on the Mandarin.

If you're gonna do Doom at least make it interesting.

Charlize Theron
Sterling K. Brown
Lucy Liu
Peter Dinklage
Anthony Starr
Michaela Coel

I'd be fine with any of those people taking a shot at it. Can't possibly be worse than what we've seen so far.
