HM 23rd September Pro Wrestling NOAH N-1 Victory Afternoon Show Katsuhiko Nakajima vs Shuhei Taniguchi Big upset here as Taniguchi gets revenge for getting kicked so hard in the head he had to roll to the outside for a while & just lay on the floor which was a bit disconcerting. Got around to watching G1s, and my votes are superfluous, but hey, why not join the fun. G1 Climax A block night 1 (9/19) MOTYC Tomohiro Ishii vs Minoru Suzuki ~ From the opening bell, exactly what I wanted in a match between these two, it was everything I dreamed it would be and more. To say that Suzuki is crisp for a 52 year old is criminally underrating him. Minoru Suzuki is one of the smoothest wrestlers alive, period. HM Jeff Cobb vs Taichi ~ Taichi continues to show remarkable improvement, and Cobb looks much more at home than he did last year. I hope to see more of this from the both of them. HM Shingo Takagi vs Jay White ~ I forgot how good Jay White is. He has the best looking Uranage in the business. MOTYC Kazuchika Okada vs Kota Ibushi ~ I liked the ending and the story. G1 Climax B Block Night 1 (9/20) MOTYC Juice Robinson vs YOSHI-HASHI ~ It really did come down to the crowd here, not just for what they did for Juice, but I need to point this out since no one else did: The crowd audibly gasped at a move YOSHI-HASHI pulled because of how good and unexpected it was. It looks like everyone is bringing their A-Game for the G1 HM Zack Sabre Jr. vs EVIL ~ Surprised by a lot of the finer details in this match, but both guys looked great, which is not a surprise MOTYC Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Tetsuya Naito ~ This might be my favorite match from either of these guys. (I've only watched since slightly before last G1) I usually don't "get" Naito's tranquilo poo poo, and it comes off less like being a charismatic dick and more just being a dick but the bit where he was in his Tranquilo pose and casually dodged a big move by Tanahashi by inverting to pose in the other direction was sublime. This is a Naito I am ready to get behind.

Feels crazy not nominating an Ishii match, but there was something weirdly off about that match (and not just because of any distaste for Ospreay) - it was full of really great moments but was somehow less than the sum of its parts.

A friend put it well: Expectations for A block are high so it’s easier for them to underdeliver (see: apparently Ishii vs Ospreay, haven’t been able to watch it myself yet) while B block is expected to be less exciting so it’s easier for them to impress (see: Juice vs Y-H)

HM: Kota Ibushi vs. Switchblade Jay White - NJPW G1 Climax 30 Night 3 9/23 This was really, really good, but somewhat hampered by the crowd's inability to make noise beyond clapping (White did amazing stuff at the start of the match with this). Feel like with a standard crowd the energy would have lifted it higher.
