I would argue that using OC's first title match as a backdrop to Cody looking like a cool badass who beats up the heels and stands tall doesn't exactly make him seem like he's totally selflessly putting over new talent. Especially to the crowd that already thinks Brodie being pushed isn't great because he spent a decade as a WWE tag team undercard guy. Not saying it's right (not saying it's entirely wrong either, honestly) but it's hardly a completely out there opinion.

Its also something that's foolish to say about any sport: even if a sports fanbase leans in a particular direction any sport that has a significant number of fans probably also has a fairly diverse fanbase: some of which agree with you politically but will naturally get a bit offended by being grouped in with people they don't like. I like motor racing which is a sport that has dodgy elements of its fanbase (mostly the "CLIMATE CHANGE IS A LIE" brigade that are mostly Tories) but I get a bit annoyed when I see people just assuming that everyone that follows a sport which a large fanbase is like that. Especially since the current World Champion is someone who's used the platform that being the greatest driver of his generation has given him to raise awareness of environmental issues globally: and who is also a very vocal supporter of Black Lives Matter which is important in a sport that, well, tends to be really rather white. Its a good way of annoying people that actually agree with you for literally no reason: and that's not something people should be doing.

Anecdotally this tracks with people I know and has for at least 20 years, at least with mainstream promotions. The ROH shows in the early 2000s (I may be mis-remembering so feel to correct me) had very white crowds though.
