I don't think that the whole fetal stem cell thing is the "gotcha!" that people want it to be. Sure, the cells used to develop the drug were harvested from an aborted fetus, but the sample came from a baby that was aborted decades ago. It's not like a new baby needs to die for every person that's treated with it; this isn't going to drive a tsunami of new abortion business. It seems to me a little like zinging a vegetarian for sitting on an antique leather couch.

It's not about the body count, it's still incredibly hypocritical for them to actively shut down practices that make things like that drug possible but then reap the benefits in secret.

it's fruit of the poisonous tree but you would be making a mistake to think the average pro-lifer has the self-awareness to recognize that the problem isn't regeneron™, it's all the other potential medical advances that could've been made had they not banned federal research for purely political reasons during the Bush administration (and want to do again). but if we don't ban this and they manage to develop an important medicine from new stem cell research, then it would undercut the media friendly pro-life messaging that we use to chip away at women's reproductive rights!!
