How much more gas do you figure Bill has in the tank and what's motivating him to carry on with a lackluster team?

He's already the NFL coach with the most Super Bowl rings (6), twice as many as the best of his peers, but it appears it will be a while before his Pats are back in contention again.

He's in third place all-time for coaching wins:

1 Don Shula 328
2 George Halas 318
3 Bill Belichick 275
4 Tom Landry 250

He sits in 5th place all-time in terms of winning percentage

1 Guy Chamberlin .759
2 Vince Lombardi .740
3 John Madden .731
4 Ray Flaherty .701
5) Bill Belichick .683

He's 68 years old.

Is Belichick committed to rebuilding the Patriots into a Super Bowl contender? Would he consider jumping ship to another organization that would vastly improve his chances of getting a 7th Super Bowl ring? Does he have his eyes set on the record for most wins by a coach? Is retirement likely to come sooner than later?

He's a football historian and he wants to break as many coaching records as possible, not to mention proving he can do it without Brady. He's not quitting anytime soon.

Its this, dude absolutely wants to build a super bowl winning team without brady there. And I wouldn't be shocked to see it happen within 2 or 3 years.

I don't think this is disputed, except by Pats' fans who are intentionally blind to it. But how much farther do you think Billy-boy goes before calling it quits? Will he deviously craft new ways to circumvent the rules?

Belichick's most likely post-retirement life will be becoming the Lacrosse coach at some random college that suddenly starts sending dozens of guys to the NFL as career special teams gunners.

i bet he wants to coach football and will only quit if his team gets to be like a 2-14 piece of poo poo and he just doesn't feel up to fixing it from that bad or gets scared that he can't

I think he wants the wins record, and it's probably become a personal thing after Shula was pretty explicit about calling Belichick out on the cheating over the years when pretty much all the other coaches fell all over themselves to be diplomatic about it.

I do kinda suspect the Patriots have sort of hosed up their rebuilding plan a little bit, between the opt-outs rolling some cap burden on aging players they intended to cut into '21, and Newton being good enough to get them out of contention for a top QB but not good enough really be a franchise QB the way things are going.

He's going to have to get like 100% better at drafting skill players if he wants to get back on top.

Bill Belichick will retire and accept a job with the NFL Network as an analyst where he will be fired in the first three months for some weird sex thing then we will be forced to endure an re-examining of his entire career.

I think he really likes his job and will probably keep going until it's no longer fun. A bad year or two is probably just a challenge for him. Three or four in a row would be too much of a buzz kill but at that point the Patriots would be looking to part ways anyway.

I don't know if it would sit well with him if he failed and everyone said it was in fact Brady that carried him so at some point it could be an itch he has to scratch.

I'm picturing him super old on the sidelines.

Like, a few years where he's technically the head coach, but the younger assistant coach that everyone says is the next big thing is the real coach.

Belichick finally retires and passes away like 20 days later.
