tl;dr the league is crying poor and Manfred is saying players are going to have to negotiate reduced salaries for 2021 as well before a season can start. I'm sure that will go over... great.

there's literally a video about this in the OP

I guess it's not technically about that exactly but who cares it's a supersonic baseball

Well, of course I know him.
He's me.

That loving sucks, but it’s not horribly surprising and OTOH it makes a Brantley deal or Correa extension more likely.

Course, that assumes Crane/Click will actually do anything. I’m not filled with confidence when it comes to paying out big contracts when our new GM is a product of the Tampa Bay front office. He’s gonna cry about lost income due to covid and then fill the OF gaps with Tucker, Straw, and Aramark Employee #3456 instead.

Not trying to be an rear end in a top hat but I do wonder how many current Astros will, when they reach FA, want to move on as a means of trying to distance themselves and their reputation from the whole cheating fiasco.

I don’t think a lot of the younger guys like Yordan and Tucker will care since they weren’t even on the 2017 team, but guys like Springer may be A Thing as their contracts come up. It also helps that the 2017 team has already been parted out for a while now so there aren’t that many guys left that probably want to jump ship when given the opportunity. Altuve, McCullers, and Bregman will probably stick around. JV may be done entirely anyway. Yuli will likely retire an Astro since we just extended him through his age 38 season. Reddick is done as an Astro for sure. That really only leaves Correa, and I could see that going either way depending on how he feels about testing the FA market.

It’s crazy, I hadn’t fully realized until researching this post just how scattered that 2017 roster had become.

Yeah sorry, I was more specifically talking about the hitters who were actively involved in the scandal but the way I worded it implied I meant everybody. I could definitely see Bregman sticking around since he seems wholly unbothered by being caught cheating and continues to embrace playing the heel. Correa will be interesting since his response has been less brushing it off and more :qq:'ing about people being mean to him over it, so maybe he also sticks around?

Springer also has the luxury of having put up back to back seasons where he was arguably a better hitter than the year he was getting the can banged, so he probably feels more comfortable testing FA since he can counter "you cheated why should we trust your numbers" with "because I put up even better numbers after I stopped cheating".

This was such a blessed day.

I always forget, but is there a way to search a thread for my posts? Without leaving a new comment?

I remember watching those games. I feel I mightve commented about Phil Coke falling on the floor when trying to cover home in the Yankee game.

I think this is only the second time I've watched that video in full. I think I only watch the intro to The Show once, literally the first time I play that year.

I wonder how many guys on those rosters are still playing, because I'm still in that "Oh 2005 was like last month" phase of life.

Yes. when searching a threadid, you can filter to posts by a specific userid or username e.g.
code:
threadid:3440053 username:"ProperCoochie"
or
code:
threadid:3440053 userid:65972
to search that thread for your posts! :)

e: or not? for some reason it can't find that thread id though it's clearly the right one

try
code:
intitle:"MLB GDT" userid:65972
instead!

e2: for some reason searching the goldmine doesn't work, that's why!

Every single year the Ivy League takes a break from fucking up the world through its various alumni to fuck up everyone's bracket instead.
Congrats to the Dodgers, and to the rest of us who can now go back to not feeling the least bit bad for any of their fans for their future hilarious fuckups.

Also I think on the balance of this series, and given that there were actual rest days, that the Braves would have had a chance in this World Series matchup. But I can't see them being any better next year, or the Dodgers any worse, so I doubt there'll be any chance to test it out.
