I would imagine trying to tuck in your pants while high could lead to some compromising situations, including occasionally losing your pants altogether.

I've got a pocket full of cheese🧀, and a garden full of trees🌴.

America, (both CHUDs and normal people) is currently suffering from what I have personally termed 'Felicity Kennett' syndrome.

For non-Victorian readers, Felicity Kennett was the wife of Jeff Kennett. One of Victorias most hated Premiers. But after he was voted out, (in a pretty big landslide if I remember rightly, Felicity, in her infinite wisdom, famously said "I don't know how this happened. Nobody I know voted Labor."

The point being, the CHUDs think it will be a definite Trump victory, coz all the people they know, talk to in real life, watch on TV, and associate with online are as big CHUDs as them. So they only see, hear and speak the "Trump is good!" insane lies.
The same with normal people who, (polls aside), mainly hang out with, talk to, listen to, and respect people who can see through Trump and his team of fuckwitted grifting idiots. So they think that everybody knows that he is a blowhard fool and will obviously lose.

The sad truth is, there are more Trump supporters out there than we, (normal people), realize. And that is one of the reasons why America is broken.

YAY for polls suggesting he will lose. YAY for the enthusiasm and momentum of people fighting to ensure he will lose. But for multiple hosed up American reasons, he still might not lose. And we will be confused thinking "How did that happen? Nobody I know voted for Oranjman."

This is not a LOL, so skip down if you don't want to read.

Losing is not an option for him. There can be no doubt whatsoever that his lawyers have been telling him "SIR, if you lose the presidential shield of immunity against prosecution, they are going to dump a fuckton of indictments on you on the day after the inauguration, and you won't be Winning in those, Sir"

He is literally hoping for reelection to avoid prison. And not just to postpone it by four years; he's playing for all the marbles.

He's a moron, he's an imbecile, he's a sociopath, but like all sociopaths he knows when the jig is up, and is smart enough to plan.

He knows if he "wins" by stealing it in the courts, the protests that result will make the ones last summer look like picnics. And this is a key part of the plan-- let it happen, stoke the flames, provoke them, and then he can put into effect the plan that he wasn't able to do a few months ago. To send his armed CBP goons into every city, to--along with the police--snatch people up into unmarked vans, beat the poo poo out of people, use the sonic weapons and microwave weapons, and most likely shoot people.

Once it gets bad enough there are the infamous PEADs, meant to provide for continuity of government in apocalyptic emergency situations like nuclear war.

Can he be stopped from using these? IMO if he "wins", it's doubtful, because as so many people have said ITT and its predecessors, WHO is going to stop him?

We don't know what the current ones contain, but we do know some of the contents of the older, superceded ones. They detailed provisions to suspend habeus corpus, to seize property, to lock up people deemed to be "threats", authorizations to build camps like the ones we locked Japanese-American citizens in during WWII, and contingencies to censor/suppress the media, among other things.

There is also the idea of invoking the Insurrection Act, and while I have no doubt that there are generals who will refuse to send the 82d Airborne Division into a US city, the problem with this idea is that he can simply fire one after the other until he gets to one that supports his bullshit, similar to what Nixon did (albeit not with military) during the Saturday Night Massacre when he wanted someone to fire the special prosecutor.

It would amount to an inside coup, but again... WHO is going to stop him? And who is to say once he seizes "emergency powers", he can't declare himself King for life, then appoint Ivanka or Don Jr. when he steps down? Disband Congress like loving Sheev Palpatine?

Vote like your lives depend on it, people, because they loving well do. If you think I'm hysterical or stretching the bounds of reality here, you have not been paying attention for the last few years. There is literally nothing he and his cronies won't do to stay in power. They don't care how many people die or are imprisoned, how many lives destroyed. This is match point coming up in a couple of days and we either win, or it is all over.

e: Both voting him out in a landslide, and flipping the senate, are crucial

What happened is Obama and years of Republicans dehumanizing Democrats.

That's what happens when you dehumanize a large part of a population: violence.

Boomers collectively flushed what little of their brains they had in the 90s when the Soviet union collapsed because their big bad enemy was gone and thus recorded history was over so it was to be the land of land and milk and honey (ignore the rising temperatures, nothing to worry about) and then 9/11 happened. They felt the fear for the first time in a long time, and were subjected to 20 years of right wing fear mongering via the internet and fox news in ways that would have made PR experts of the red scare era erect for their entire lives. This happened because it was extremely lucrative for a small number of corporate and political entities. The fact that it sent a generation into a pointless meat grinder of a war and allowed the passing of ever more exploitive legislation was the point.

The cruelty was the point.

Here is one big thing that happened. I posted this in the old thread, reposting here. It's mainly about the influence of Roger Ailes' network on our Special Boy, but it also applies to chuds in general:

mrmojok posted:

A few months back I started reading a lot about Fox News, the history of Fox News. What prompted this was mushbrain mcPantsShitter constantly tweeting in the early morning stuff he'd seen on Fox & Friends, but also a single quote that I read somewhere. The quote was from someone who know Roger Ailes, who claimes Ailes said the whole reason for the creation of Fox News was so that no president he ever supported "would ever be treated as badly as Nixon was treated."

Like, what in the gently caress?!?

So one of the biggest US events of the late 20th century, although few realized at the time just how big it would be, was the repeal of the Fairness Doctrine. The Fairness Doctrine was an FCC thing that required basically anybody who had a broadcast license to periodically discuss on news shows controversial issues that were important, and to do it in a "balanced" manner.

This is how I remember news and opinion shows being when I was a kid. The old SNL skit Point/Counterpoint was a joke, but it was kind of inspired by this concept. You were supposed to present both sides of an issue, and exactly how you had to do this wasn't specified, and the Fairness Doctrine was far from perfect BUT... it did prevent something like Fox News from even existing.

Well, it is repealed in 1987, Fox News launches in 1998 or 1999, and lo and behold by 2017 Fox News is quite literally manipulating US government policy through the loving idiot president, the idiot king, who receives "suggestions" through Fox and Friends broadcasters, chryons, and sometimes even straight from the lips of Hannity or Carlson on the phone.

Now there is a new book coming out that is about exactly this. Maddow interviewed the author tonight on her show. A lot of the stuff in the book is stuff that we know and have talked about in this thread for a few years, but seeing it all listed out was pretty infuriating.

Among the revelations in this book:

White House staffers watch Hannity because they need to know what Trump has seen on there so they can know what kinds of insane demands to expect from him soon, and also to get an idea of what kind of mood he's going to be in.

WH staffers try to get certain officials booked on certain Fox shows because they know that dipshit can be easily manipulated by what he sees on Fox.

Among the decisions Trump has made that have been directly influenced by, if not completely caused by Fox News:

Hiring of John Bolton- influenced by Hannity

Firing of John Bolton- Carlson

Firing of Jeff Sessions- Jeanine Pirro

Resignation of Kirstjen Nielson- Lou Dobbs

Pat Cipollone hiring to lead Trump's legal team- Laura Ingraham

Trump's hatred for Ukraine, and backing the Russian intel narrative on Ukraine- caused by Hannity "reporting" in 2016 that Ukraine colluded with Hillary

Trump threatening North Korea with "bigger nuke button"- prompted by a Fox segment on Kim's "nuke button"

Trump telling Iran NEVER EVER THREATEN THE UNITED STATES AGAIN- came about because of a Fox segment

Trump has issued pardons because of things said on Fox, attacked Google because of Fox, started the fear campaign about "caravans" because of Fox, and accused people of treason because of Fox.

Then, of course, comes his coronavirus response, or more to the point, total inept lack of response. Day by day Trump's public messaging about it has been influenced or directly follows Fox chryons and talking head utterances.

The book also mentions that by early March, as Fox was saying "this is the best time to fly" and "I'm not worried about coronavirus and you shouldn't be either" and generally downplaying it every single day, the network was secretly beginning huge preventative measures--massive cleaning/decontamination of studios and offices, work-from-home orders, etc.

Book says in 2018 Hannity was saying in private Trump was "apeshit crazy", and many others in high places throughout the network were saying "He's not well" and mentioning terms like "dementia" and "personality disorder"

So this is the world we live in today, one where the most effective propaganda network ever created actively manipulates the president through whatever loving story they care to write up today, and also has a gigantic amount of influence on a huge segment of the US population, all while actively lying on every broadcast every day. All the while painting this image of a president that doesn't even exist: "The man who stopped coronavirus", "Toughest president ever on China" and knowing as they say it that the man is insane, untrustworthy, and unstable.

A point made recently in an adjacent thread: republicans and democrats could have friendly bipartisanship for a long period because both parties were overwhelmingly white. As long as you agree on the super important stuff (being white) everything else is a matter of degree. Minorities and women actually gaining access to to power makes the differences irreconcilable.

I mean ultimately though that’s just a long winded way of saying
