Trump is almost finished patching together his coping quilt out of conspiracy theories and boogiemen. As soon it's done as he will be sufficiently comfy enough to agree to leave the White House. Sources are still unclear if he will also demand his pacifier, baby bottle or daughter Ivanka in addition to his quilt after this tantrum is complete.

wilderthanmild posted:0% chance. Even if every one of those was for Biden and every one was thrown out, it's only about 10k ballots. If I'm reading this right, it's much smaller than that. This isn't about the 10k ballots that arrived during the three days after election day which the PA Supreme Court allowed for, but it's related to that window. When the three-day extension came down, the PA Secretary of State declared that there was to be a matching three-day extension for "problem" ballots (like signature mismatches) where the voter would need to show their ID and say yes, that's really my ballot. The law says they have to do that within one week of election day (so Nov. 9th). What the court struck down was the extension of that deadline to the 12th, so that ballots that the voter showed their ID for after the 9th will have to be thrown out. To my knowledge, there isn't a number available for how many ballots fall into this very narrow category, but it can't possibly be very many. These are, by definitions, ballots that had not yet been counted as of this past Monday.

There is a very good episode of the Netflix series, "Immigration Nation", that covers this topic. Episode 4 or 5 I think? The series is infuriating and sad to watch, but very good. It really reveals the depravity of Trump's immigration stance.

I said come in! posted:I had saw somewhere that the death rate is around 4% in the U.S. I dont think the vaccine will do much in the U.S., too many people are fighting against it and dont believe in vaccines here. Ah, we've got a sappy af truism for that one: I was walking along the beach after a remarkably high tide and saw a little boy carefully rescuing starfish from the hot sand and placing them back in the water. "Why bother, kiddo," I said, "it's not like it matters to most of them" "It matters to this one," he said. Except in this hellworld the tide was high because a barge full of rancid garbage was dumped just offshore, a lot of the starfish climbed thinking that the sand isnt all that hot, and now a significant portion of them are doing their best to fight the kid so that they can die on land. One unalloyed good of a functional vaccine (at least as far as I can hope) is that at least it will provide some additional safety to the medical providers who I assume will get the first batches.

https://www.businessinsider.com/jared-kushner-ivanka-trump-kids-new-school-parents-coronavirus-complaints-2020-11 Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump pulled their children out of the Milton Gottesman Jewish Day School and moved them to Melvin J. Berman Hebrew Academy, according to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. Three Milton parents told the outlet that some parents had complained that Kushner and Trump weren't following the school's COVID-19 protocols, which asked families to avoid large gatherings and to follow social-distancing guidelines. A longtime Milton parent with knowledge of the matter told Business Insider that the school tried to compromise with Kushner and Trump to give them certain allowances but that the talks didn't work out and the couple chose to leave. A source close to the Kushner family told JTA that the family moved the kids to Berman because it offered more in-person schooling, not because of the COVID-19 rules. A White House spokeswoman slammed the JTA report in a statement to Business Insider, calling the outlet's sources "idle gossips seeking press attention."

The Don Bongino one was about how the Bidens get rich from the deep state and the Nunes one was a tiny booklet about saving the country from socialism. Of course in this case socialism is anything they don't like. (My dad once called Apple a communist company). Fair enough. Side-note: Everytime I go shopping for used books at the Salvation Army, they always have piles of unread right-wing hardcovers in mint condition. Lots of Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, and Laura Ingraham. There were at least 20 copies of Donnie Jr.'s first book right after it was published. (Also a lot of copies of the Twilight books). I'm fairly certain that most were unwanted gifts.

My wife is an executive editor with a major publisher. She explained to me how important the New York Times best seller lists are in the publishing world, which is why they differentiate between books purchased by individuals/ retailers from the ones that are bought in bulk and immediately remaindered.
