Oh right, she tweeted in English, the primary language of countries like America and the UK, in which the deadly pandemic is spiraling out of control and there is no "safe" movie theater, even though there's a massive domestic ad campaign right now insisting that it's somehow "safe" to sit in an indoor theater for 1.5-2 hours with a dozen other people. It's absolutely reckless. You know there are English-speaking nations besides the UK or the US where COVID is being reasonably well-managed?

I'll see anything with Daisy Ridley i don't underestimate the ability of marketing to make a terrible film look watchable for those not keeping track: it was originally filmed from August-November 2017, but the initial cut was deemed "unreleasable" by studio executives who insisted on major reshoots. Said reshoots (with another director brought on as a "consultant" for Doug Liman) didn't happen until spring of last year due to Ridley and Holland's Star Wars and Marvel commitments. but that was still 18+ months ago so Lionsgate has not exactly been in a hurry to release it

The first Boss Baby was such a fundamentally weird movie, like people who didn't see it have no idea how loving weird that movie was. I am really not looking forward to a sequel, given how much my daughter will want to watch it.

Taintrunner posted:Written by Max Landis apparently so uh whelp Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency is one of my favorite shows of the 2010's and so it's even more sad that he's human garbage. Although, I almost missed this on Wikipedia when looking him up to remind myself exactly what he did: quote:Landis wrote a draft of the screenplay for Shadow in the Cloud (2020) before being removed from the project due to sexual assault allegations. Although the script was re-written by Roseanne Liang, he received credit per Writers Guild of America rules.[43][44] and quote:In January 2019, it was announced Chloë Grace Moretz had joined the cast of the film, with Roseanne Liang directing from a screenplay by Max Landis. Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Fred Berger, Kelly McCormick and Tom Hern would serve as producers under their Automatik and Four Knights Film banner, respectively.[3] In April 2019, Moretz announced the script had been re-written several times following Landis's sexual assault allegations.[4] Landis was also removed as a producer on the film, with Liang re-writing the film, however, due to Writers Guild of America rules, Landis receives credit for the script.[5][6][7] That same month, Nick Robinson joined the cast of the film. Back on board with this movie

To give you an idea of Liang's previous work as a director, this short got her the gig. https://vimeo.com/294245457 She's also working to get that film developed into a full-length feature, and has had to fight tooth and nail every step of the way. "Why does the lead have to be a woman?" "Can't you cast a white person?" "Why does she have to be Asian, just because the film is going to be set in Hong Kong?" That sort of poo poo.
