Always remember that the former President was dumber than the dumbest person you've ever met by a wide margin

I haven't watched WWE in a few years now, so I only tangentially know what the hell is going on... but why did Rollins "sacrifice himself for the greater good"?

It makes absolutely no sense, Rollins won a match to get on the team, he didn't eliminate himself as part of a big swerve or anything. He just gave up and lost at the beginning of the match.

Also he beat Otis to get in the match, but then Otis was still on the team anyway. If they wanted to pull this move why not have Seth just be named to the team by the GM or whatever, then have him get himself counted out or something to cost the team the win. Or, I dunno, have him do that and then Otis still wins the match, setting up a story between them.

It just sounds really stupid unless Seth's gimmick is now "Dumb idiot who loses and acts like that was his plan". If that is his gimmick now disregard everything I said.

He needs to go on paternity leave and it would just make too much sense to give someone a rub from putting him out of action

which is even more funny considering Murphy beat him like 2 days ago

I think the idea is supposed to be Rollins gave a poo poo to qualify but since in the in between he lost to Rey, Murphy turned on him, and he lost to Murphy that now his response is "f it whatever."(With actual reason probably being paternity leave?) But this is WWE so I'm probably being overly generous with the reading, when the more likely factor is lolThisIsGoodShit.

As for Otis not winning the original match, I think they were still trying to float the idea backstage of Big E being on the team(instead of Otis) but LOL Big E's "push"

Okay yeah that makes "sense" in a weird WWE way. You can't let anybody get over so you may as well have Seth leave in the dumbest way possible so there's also no hype when he comes back.

Has there ever been any kind of justification for this? It honestly seemed like a giant "gently caress you" to Angle for having the nerve to work in TNA for a decade.

They slotted Baron Corbin into a storyline designed for Jason Jordan and they’re extremely protective of Corbin.

Vince genuinely thinks Baron Corbin is a great heel

What gets me is that they have Baron Corbin winning King of the Ring and Money in the Bank, but as far as I can remember, he's never held a title. What the gently caress is the point? And okay, the Angle storyline going into Wrestlemania was originally supposed to be about his illegitimate son Jason Jordan, but once his career was over, they couldn't find loving anyone else?

Quantum of Phallus
Dec 27, 2010

my "hot take" is that Corbin could probably be a great heel in anywhere else but like WWE just sucks rear end so there's no good pure heels at all really, the best they can do is cool heels like the way they portray Randy Orton or Roman.
they can't do proper faces either so whenever Corbin comes out to do his awful gimmicks about dog food or whatever, nobody cares. you can't blame the performers at all IMO

Yeah, part of why I stopped watching was Baron Corbin. Over the stretch of like 3 months he was beating Shinsuke Nakamura, winning Money in the Bank, winning the US title, and CONSTANTLY involved with sometimes multiple storylines at a time.

It's really bizarre - they can find hundreds of hours of TV ideas for this dude, but not Big E.

I think he maybe held the US title once? Corbin’s main role seems to be what Ziggler’s used to be. Mid-Card gatekeeper and first feud for NXT call-ups.

He’s someone who should be a bigger deal on paper, but he’s just so uninspiring that he can never get over the hump. He’s just the most generic heel. Not interesting enough to be liked, but not evil or charismatic enough to build a character with real heat like an MJF. The only reaction seems to be bored indifference.

There's a pretty strict difference between "bum fighter skid row Corbin" who was kinda cool and kinda intimidating and then the modern version of him where he's a swarmy waiter who they trot out to have boring garbage feuds over nothing.

If you put MJF in that stupid outfit and had him hang out with Roode and Ziggler (or whatever) as his 'muscle' you'd deflate him too.

I feel like he would be in much better shape if he wasn't bad with marriage and bad with money and forced to come out of retirement to keep a roof over his head. It happens all the time in the industry, especially with his generation, but I don't feel so bad for him.
