Forgot about Edie Falco. Also, I swear to god I've never seen or heard anyone write or say anything about Lillyhammer I wonder what Gandolphini's career might have been like moving forward had he lived longer? He's a terrific actor but I'd wager that typecasting would have been a huge problem for him. Like, Carrol O'Conner was fantastic but it was a good decade before he found regular work again with Heat of the Night because he was always Archie Bunker. Same with Henry WInkler/Fonzie and how Jason Alexander was forever George. Some double edged sword poo poo being that successful but then having a hard time getting cast because directors don't think anyone will take you seriously in another role.

Gandolfini would've been a highly respected character actor for many years, maybe never a leading man again but also never hurting for work. You can see in the last few years before his death the type of role he was settling into(Zero Dark Thirty, Killing Them Softly, The Drop).

They seem to be masters of getting paid and then not having to do the project because the distributor gets their briefs on what they want to do and goes "uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, you know what let's not do this project." They had that loving horrible idea for a show about what if the Confederacy won the Civil War and still existed and there were still slaves. I believe HBO shelved that project during one of the BLM moments of the last 5 years. And they were going to get a Star Wars TRILOGY. That's not going forward.

They got really loving cocky and straight up admitted during that one panel that they didn’t know what they were doing most of the time and relied on others to get poo poo done. They also gave the impression that they raced through the last season of Game of Thrones so they could start on their other projects, particularly Star Wars. It was after that idiotic display that all their deals started falling through.

He was in a film called "Lonely Hearts" with Travolta, Selma Hayek, Laura Dern and Jered Leto that was filmed locally in 2006 when I lived in Jacksonville but I never saw it. I remember it was a big deal for the city at the time but reviews say it's not good. I found it free on Crackle.

The story always was that he told them three big reveals, and basically let them plot it themselves. (Presumably after they revealed themselves to be clueless, thickheaded fanboys, but Martin could clearly get weirdly proprietary about things, and if this is true he's a bit high on his own supply). I can only remember two of them though: - the big "twist" toward the end of the show - hold the door

You have to scroll quite a bit in HBO's app to even find it. Meanwhile you have passionate discussions about the ending of the Sopranos more than a decade later. If D&D had a mediocre ending or tried something legitimately interesting that failed you'd probably already be seeing trailers for House of the Dragon and the like. Instead they took the laziest way out and, well ...

Yeah, I've realized the same thing. poo poo, they're not even doing porn with characters from the show anymore. By the way, I've found it really interesting that "Christopher" basically went through a complete reassessment after the events of this past year. It used to be seen as arguably the worst episode of the series, particularly because people found it far-fetched. Now it's eerily prescient.

I do think that if HBO is patient and lets GoT hibernate for another year or two, they could definitely come back to it and people would be pretty hyped. I think the fact that a spin-off wasn't forced on people within 6 months of the show ending was a good thing for it's long term value.

Ehhhh....I still don't like it. Relevance of the political topic aside, a lot of the writing in that episode (related specifically around the columbus half of the story) feels a lot blunter than usual. Furio's "I hate the north" lines still rule though
