like i know a decent amount about nazis and holocaust stuff and such and i watched one of his lectures on it and it was awful. basically boiled down to "lol the nazis were crazy " and not understand how they thought and poo poo. i think whats most amusing is how boring he is. its basic trad christian bullshit packaged in prettier paper with some transphobia and whiny bullshit thrown in.

He's like Joe Rogan in that he does know some basic facts and can connect some dots, so he thinks he figured out some original mindblowing truths... but they're actually things that every college freshman learns in an introductory class, before the teacher blows their minds by revealing that those ideas were refuted decades or centuries ago as complete bullshit that fascists made up without doing their homework.

i will say i havent watched enough of him but i find his voice grating and his teaching style boring. i have had bad professors both chuddy and Leftist, hell the worst one was a big socialist, he was just awful at teaching and tried to make every discussion into https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/And_you_are_lynching_Negroes like ok gently caress American exceptionalism but what the does that have to do with "how are bills passed" but i digress. i guess what i mean is, i can see why people fall for him because jordon SOUNDS smart enough to full into a automatic "this dude probably knows his poo poo". but if you have more than a passing knowledge. than he is a moron. i will somewhat agree that some people hate boost him too much at times but isnt his brain like melted and broken now.

Edit: i have also never listned to rogan. more of behind the bastards/LPOTL person.

Whatever political allegiance can be attributed to this guy, it's intellectually and morally bankrupt if he's the best it can muster as a figurehead

How can anyone take a guy who sounds like that seriously, I can see how him and Ben Shapiro would be kindred spirits in that regard- but again, it speaks to how bereft the cause is that these are the best they can send. But honestly, for any of his followers who subscribe to his ideas about hierarchy, ask yourself why you're taking marching orders from some guy with a loser Kermit the frog voice. If it really is a lobsterbrained dog-eat-dog world like he's advocating for, allow him to be rightly eaten by it on account of his goofy douchebag voice.

I've posted this earlier but peterson just engages in motte and bailey arguments. you put forth a radical argument, then when someone challenges you on that point, you retreat to something mundane no one disagrees with, hence who internalize all of that and come out thinking "jorp just believes <moderate belief no one would disagree with>, what's the big deal!" like the poster above.

I'd have to find it, but he does a great example of this when talking about gay parents raising a child. The question he's answering is supposed to be about whether or not there exists a difference in a child's outcome if he's raised by either gay or straight parents. He instead quickly pivots to statistics about single parent households and how kids do better when there are two parents. He completely dodges the distinction between two gay parents and only one parent and I'm pretty sure he never revisits that.

My assumption is that he equates gay parents and single parents because only one gender is represented. A child raised by lesbians and one raised by a single mother are both missing the male component, therefore they are statistically the same. In other words, it's not the absence of a partner, it's the absence of the father that affects kids

Even then, there's no need for both genders to be parents, so long as the kid has attachment to a close adult figure of the "missing" gender. As long as the single-gender parents aren't goony shutins, their kids will probably be okay in that respect.

Right, but I doubt Peterson thinks of it that way with his weird masculine-feminine binary philosophy.

The one upside of Jordan Peterson being part of the chud canon is that he obviously despises and resents all the failed comedians and YouTubers that make up his peers. Whenever you criticize someone like Jordan Peterson their adherents claim that you can't criticize them unless you've read and watched all the material like they have. If you do read and watch everything then they say that you didn't understand it. And then if you exhaustively document every claim and debunk it with citations and everything to prove that you understood it they say you're crazy and that anyone that would devote so much time and energy to criticizing them is obviously not worth listening to.

But the upside is that you don't do things like this to win arguments on the internet, you do it to innoculate people who haven't already fallen for it and hopefully have some people who are in deep find it on their own and have it be a step to then realizing they're wrong.

"Be precise in your speech," says man who requires 10 two-hour lectures to listen to as he is constantly being misunderstood.

And yeah, it's too late to convince actual disciples that this emperor has no clothes, but you can hopefully shed light to those who may be interest but don't know everything.

I don't know if I said this in this thread, but I was on vacation in Ireland about two years ago when his book had just come out. When some people found out I was Canadian, I got a few questions about him. Turns out most people had absolutely no idea about anything more than "self-help guru who wrote a book", and were incredibly surprised to hear the transphobic garbage and the "What are women? We just don't know!" poo poo.

Even the Californian who tried to argue with me in the Jameson distillery that Canadian healthcare is garbage was surprised to hear that poo poo.
