If anyone is up this late looking for tire opinions...

I have chosen my future daily and bought it in Japan. 95/96 Toyota Crown. 29k miles and absolutely mint.

It will need new tires. I’m not a big aftermarket or size wheel guy, I am more about comfort and reliability it’s why I picked this car and engine. 15” stock rims and I love how they look but they are small by today’s standards.

What brand for a daily where quietness, comfort, safety and reliability are too concerns. This will be the family car and Florida trip highway cruiser.

Or should I go with some brand new Toyota 17/18” take offs? Thoughts?

There's been nothing particularly rushed about any of the Cvoid vaccines because of that prior development. Turns out competent people realised a corona virus was an ideal one for the next pandemic and begin the science. I really don tthink anyone need to question their safety because they "appear" to be quickly in use.

The whole point of the 25-year rule is that you don't need to meet FMVSS standards. I agree that the headlights should be either changed or at least adjusted to avoid blinding your fellow driver, but it is absolutely not a requirement in the US.

(and can't post for 11 years!)

So my workplace increases our employee discount from 10% to 25% twice a year - just before Thanksgiving, and just before Christmas (the one just before Christmas started today). Only applicable to store-brand stuff, but that covers a LOT of stuff... including two different brands of appliances, one of them is the super basic stuff like a 500w microwave, can opener, coffee maker, etc. The other is much nicer stuff that's considered a "premium" brand.

There's a $20 off coupon for an air fryer in the premium brand (the price shown there isn't the same as in-store for some reason.. it's $99.97 in-store). The employee discount discounts the pre-coupon price too, not post-coupon. $100 5 quart electronic air fryer turns into a $55 air fryer.

Now that everything is washed and I've run it a bit to burn off that new appliance smell (and made the smoke alarms sing the song of their people :argh:), I'm gonna try some frozen taquitos in it. Dinners of bachelors everywhere!

Yeah.

Vaccines will show their side effects within 6 weeks, the worst of them like allergic reactions far faster than that. Pfizer and Moderna have been tested for significantly longer. I can only assume the base ingredients are not unique to these and have already been tested quite exhaustively.

Of course, nothing is absolutely 100% guaranteed to be safe, but I would absolutely I'd take my chances with a vaccine side effect over getting COVID any day of the week. No contest.

An automotive body saw is probably what you're looking for. That reminds me I need to find some old/dead batteries for that so I can use the shell to convert them to 16850 Lithiums (I have a couple Versa-Pak tools.)

Here's a Ryobi battery operated one:

Looks like "compact reciprocating saw" is the phrase you want. Milwaukee calls theirs the "HACKZALL" as opposed to the full-sized SAWZALL. I see them from Makita, Ingersoll Rand, DeWalt, etc. Pick your battery system.

Looks like they moved the apex seals to the chamber. That plus not sweeping past the ports may make them live longer... but they just moved the issue to the side seals.
Curious what they'll do for cooling the rotor, since it will have exactly the same issues as a rotary in that department, as well as the same oiling challenges.

So, basically, they've created a rotary with no significant change other than awkward intake and exhaust routing.

Excuse the basic graphic, but the throw pattern means that if you've adjusted them low enough to not blind oncoming traffic, you are no longer illuminating your lane correctly. The cheap fix is as mentioned using tape to block off the incorrect portion of the pattern and live with it, or replace the headlamps with LHD equivalents.

I know in Canada this is a big thing before they'll let you register your car legally.

I feel this on so many levels. I work within a specialized segment of my industry and we are primarily online retail. We are "old" retail in that we don't do any sales through Amazon, all through our own site. That people are refusing to accept there is a global effin pandemic going on and that the human race is literally shipping more parcels than ever before in our history is very telling of where we are as a society. We are getting contacted daily about people's orders and they are like "When I track the package it says delayed. My package is LOST" it is like no, dude, it is not lost it is friggin DELAYED. See the giant red letters at the top of the USPS site? Where is says everything is delayed because the system is overwhelmed? And where your tracking number says "Your package is on the way but running late?" That means it is not lost. It is late. Like everyone else's.

Or open up the housings and paint the RHD "tick" black, if it's a multi-faceted reflector.

Did that with the JDM HID reflector housings on my car (yes, they are factory HID reflectors, using a D2R bulb, but from a Japanese model... HIDs weren't available on US models at the time, and I wanted HIDs without being THAT rear end in a top hat, damnit). Pain in the rear end, but on mine it was very easy to identify the two facets in each housing that caused it. The beam cutoff is flat now. Sidenote: Lacking the side uptick has already resulted in one Bambi, though thankfully a baby ( for it being a baby, but :hellyeah: for it being small enough to go under the car and not do a ton of damage)

I don't recommend pulling headlights apart to paint the tick(s), it's a royal PITA... just get the stick-on things that block the RHD uptick, then re-aim.
