Where is the quest that has you investigating some messed up exploitation BDs? I've seen people talk about it ITT but haven't seen it in person. I now have some in-game time to kill so that would be perfect. Just randomly came across the flaming crotch guy lol.

I'm a little confused by the Voodoo boys part of the main story i.e why V is so pissed off at them. It seemed pretty straight forward and there is one part where you get knocked out and V seems to blame them for reasons regardless of your choices . also V really seems to hate Placide but I didn't really get that vibe at all. he seems cool. And Brigitte seems alright too . I just do not get why these guys are my enemies/frenemies.

Then after the quest, I get a text from him telling me to "watch my back" like wtf man all I did was help you.

One thing that does annoy me is that certain characters only seem to have varying degrees of poo poo talking in dialog options even if I am not feeling it at all and just want to bro down with them. Like the choices range from aggro to extremely aggro and nothing in between.

Probably doesn't help that that quest bugged out for me like crazy and just getting through it was a chore, so maybe I triggered something I'm not aware of. Cool part of the game it just sucks that parts of it seem like nonsense to me.

It's already been said but you were left to die. You weren't just knocked out, you "died" again and only survived cause of the Relic. Johnny mentions they'll be surprised to see you. And Placide was surprised to see you alive. I ended up killing them all Brigitte was using you too, not expecting you to survive your interaction with Alt. She even says try not to take it personally. Voodoo Boys don't like outsiders, they never gave a poo poo about you as a person, just the Relic.

Okay, so Dirty biz

It was hard for me to just shoot a couple of guys begging for their lives, and in a way the father was right that if not them, someone else will.

But when the son started asking me if I wanted some more hardcore stuff like little kids.. it was a nice touch that V readied the gun at that same moment too.

This was some serious poo poo and I ran through a ton of emotions.

First I empathized, because if not them, it really would be someone else. Also the coercion. They really didn't want to be there. They'd been forced. They didn't want to do this. Maybe I believe it. Maybe I don't. But if the dialogue ended there I just would have let them go because I don't want to murder potentially innocent people. I'd rather let them go even if that is the wrong decision. I the person want to give them the benefit of the doubt. In game V tosses and turns at night (maybe) trying to decide if they did the right thing in letting them go.

Then the son asks me if I want child snuff porn and I'm then I'm instantly revolted, but I don't just immediately kill them. They're not faceless enemies. They have context. They're defenseless people, coerced and begging for their lives, they're family with connections to one another, but they're also morally repugnant and trying to involve me in their evil. And so my internal calculus is not if I should let them go, but if I should kill the father or the son first. I decide to kill the father, the son freaks out and if I kill the son, the father freaks out. If you toss in a grenade when you leave, they both freak out. There was no way to come out of that situation clean. So I waste both and try to forget, but it seriously stuck with me because one immediately starts wailing if you kill one of them first. They care about one another, but they're still awful people. It hit hard because I've met people like that before. Not only that level, but still, morally repugnant people who still care about one another.

Later on in a side mission, I see three cops beating a corpo in a 1000 Eddie suit to death and I ask what's up. The cops are hostile, but not drawing guns and the guy isn't dead yet. They just want me to move along. I press and I make the check and they tell me why they're doing it because I'm curious. The corpo was basically using electronic date rape drugs on club girls and they were so powerful that they could kill the victim. You tell the cops, rightly, that if they beat this guy to death, the corps will use the body cam footage and these cops will die. I hate the cops, but he's not just corpo scum, but he's a rapist, but he's also connected. So this is a complicated situation..

Now I don't really have a reason to linger, at least I thought I didn't. I thought I didn't have a reason to kill this guy or spare the cops, because again, gently caress cops, but the reason that V gives for wanting to kill the corpo date rapist who accidentally murdered someone is compelling. I thought that the cops can do whatever, everyone in this situation sucks. But V drops the most compelling reason for me to kill this corpo date rapist murderer when the cop presses me for why I would want to kill this guy.

"Killing corpo trash like this? This is how I unwind."

And I had to stop the game for a full minute and pace around my room because that is just amazing characterization. The corpos are despised and people will gently caress them up, even murder them if they get a chance. They are not only wealthy, but possess privilege to rape and kill at will. If not for street justice, he'd walk away, because it's street justice or no justice.

You actually don't get the "this is how I unwind" answer without being a street kid (I think). But you, as a street kid, hate the corps and that if you're corp connected, you're essentially a made man or woman, mob style. You're untouchable. So I talk to the guy when he's half dead but conscious, get him to spill, see if I can get him to pay me to let him go. I actually already believe the cops at this point. Not because they're cops, but because they walk away. It's not a paid hit. They just want him dead. So at this point I'm interrogating him to make sure they're not mistaken. I can't con him. Skill is too low. But hey, what's running a con on this guy when you're about to execute that corpo rapist murderer? Or at least I'm trying to confirm that. He makes it easy because he lives in a world largely devoid of consequences. So as he's making excuses which are like, "Hey, you know how it is. A girl doesn't want to gently caress you, sometimes you need a little extra to get your dick wet" and he's lying about bad drugs. He doesn't get bad drugs. He's not getting poo poo off the street corner. He's getting the designer poo poo and what he got will gently caress you up worse than the normal poo poo and he knows that. Mybe someone dies, maybe they don't. So he's a corpo rapist who doesn't give a gently caress whether the girls he wants to gently caress live or die. He wants what he wants and he doesn't care. Sex. Consensual or not. And sometimes that process ends up with a body and he's trying to justify that to me. And he's wealthy enough that he could just pay for sex. So what he wants isn't about sex really. It's about power. The power to do whatever he wants and the thrill of getting away with it.

Unable to con him out of money, I draw the katana and lop off his head while he's making excuses. It pops off like a champagne cork. Immediate job success. I walk by the cops on the way back out of the alley as they drive away. It was so satisfying. And I can imagine that the V who dealt with father-son kiddy snuff editors who stared into the face of some real evil goes this way. You see the evil in the streets and you're not going for some nice, tidy, legal resolution. There is no legal resolution from the state. This is Night City. Justice doesn't come down from the state. It comes up from the street and that justice is swift and brutal and lethal. Doling it out does make the world a better place, even if in a terrible way. That corpo trash will never rape another woman again. Never murder another woman in his attempt to get in their pants because they turn him down. He will never abuse his privilege again. Privilege canceled by a loving sword stroke.

And I can really believe that V lives in a world where she murders corpo trash to unwind. And playing a female V where the gangers and corpsec are constantly calling me a oval office and other gendered slurs, I imagine that killing a corpo rat rapist murderer with a motherfucking katana really helps her unwind.

This chance encounter evoked so many emotions in me and it was very different. If the state were just, you'd just hand him over to the cops, who wouldn't be beating him to death. You need to make a choice. Letting him leave dooms others. There is no strictly clean, moral choice. But there is a choice that is more correct.

All of this is not just the story that's told here. It is the context of the city that interacts with the small story. When CDPR decides to tell a story, that story is frequently good and when it lands, it's amazing.

They are not friendly, and the only times they act that way are to manipulate you into doing something they want.

Ah. I feel like I missed out on most of the context here because the mission was bugging out for me so bad. I don't think it played out how it was intended to at all. Like, I got that they thought I would die, but the netrunner guy randomly aggroed while I was talking to him so I just shot him and passed out, and bridgette just started talking 3 lines of dialog over each other and then turned into a game breaking bug that I had to reload. It was overall the most bugged out thing I have had in the game yet.

Yeah I was tempted to reload and rethink that decision but it seemed pretty reasonable - V knows with some certainty that the VDB is actively loving her over, but only suspects that the Netwatch guy might gently caress her over.

Placide's jacket is totally worth it too. I wish it had a better armor stat.

That's the one. You fight Placide in the church after running through their little base killing everyone in sight, if you chose NetWatch side.

And this of course after the cyber adventure which ends with Alt killing both VDB and NetWatch runners.

If you side with NetWatch in the actual mission you'll get to come back to an angry Placide and you have a prompt to punch him in the face, and then Brigitte interrupts you - and says to help you anyway - even though that's just bullshit.

So far, gigs are my favorite part of the game. Each one is a nice bite size Deus Ex mission that rewards looking around for non obvious approaches. My interaction with the open world hasn’t been to try to mess with it or explore the edges of the system, I’m not looking to catch where it breaks and so it’s been a nice backdrop.

I feel like I don’t understand crafting at all and I really don’t understand quickhack crafting. Need to go back and read the tutorials I suppose. I can craft grenades and I really like crafting and throwing grenades with a tech shotgun to keep people off balance.

It’s been a struggle not to dress like a clown, but I bought a spec for a bright yellow version of the jacket V wears on the box art so now I look like I’m being a brightly colored clown on purpose. I went back to my stash for the first time in ages and discovered that V’s two starting outfits and the bonus items apparently level with you for base armor? So I guess I know I’ll always have tasteful pants. I wish I could wear hats but make them invisible. Maybe I’ll eventually find a hat that doesn’t completely change my haircut.

There's still an objective marker to 'neutralise' him on the body, despite it missing most of its head. Doesn't seem to be any way of resolving this. It's not a huge deal because it's only a gig but nonetheless a workaround would be useful (I hate having a messy journal lol)! Hopefully it'll be patched soon.

i had to throw a grenade at what appeared to be a corpse to finish it off because shooting it didn't work

Where are the best stores/areas to find biker-style clothing? Does it vary by area or is it totally RNG?

Shop prices have to be reviewed. Why a legendary smart shotgun that does a mediocre 366 dps costs 326K???

Crafting upgrades, cost of components have to be reviewed. Why 2 more armor points (from 62 to 64) cost so much?

Anybody know what causes the first-person model to freak out when exiting a vehicle? Started happening out of nowhere, but it can be fixed by entering and exiting again. Kind of annoying in a cutscene, though.

Is it actually worth levelling crafting or should I just be selling stuff instead? I've not put enough into it yet to be bothered

Crafting is like anything else in this goofy game: if you spend like even 10 minutes loving around with it you can basically break the game over your knee. The truth is I would wait to gently caress around with crafting until you know what kind of weapons you’d like to craft or until you’re high enough level to make the quickhacks you want.

Wait, those loving commas ARE periods :psyduck: Jesus, I was so confused because I looked at them as thousands first and I figured they're decimals and they used commas for some reason but they're actually PERIODS??? Why the hell are there decimals to the thousandths?
Isn't that the US notation?

it's a mystery but also very, very dumb which is why i never bought anything from shops outside of things that topped at a few grand. the entire economy system of the game needs a pass in terms of prices etc

E: I am old and have been a fan of almost all of their games but that got a big ol nope from me.

the most memorable part of outer worlds was the moon head guy you can harass on the station and i've already forgotten most of the rest of the game

It's RNG mostly. The rear end in a top hat at the Maelstrom base where you get the Flathead (Royce?) has spiked leather jacket. Dunno if you can get back inside to loot it if you missed it. Maybe the rocker set plus that jacket if you want something you can hunt down.
