Remember that Cry for Justice event DC had 10 or so years ago but they chose such a terrible font for the cover that everyone thought they were publishing something called Gay for Justice? And people were wondering why DC was being so supportive of Gay rights all of a sudden?

The closest Marvel came to that was when Marvel published the event called Axis where good guys became evil and vice versa. Only their font made it look like it was called Sixis so everyone was wondering why Marvel were publishing an event book about the Playstation 3 controller.

It reads like something from the 90s where pages are spent showing how previous threats are nothing compared to the might of the Black Parade, and then all the Parade ends up doing is just being forgettably evil in ways that literally dozens and dozens of stories have done before. I say that fully knowing that the me from the 90s who thought Spawn was the coolest poo poo ever would totally love this and think Eddie Brock was the coolest dude ever, instead of a Spider-Man supporting character who I’m supposed to pretend doesnt feel out of place here. The idea that Peter Parker's relationship with MJ is literally killing her, even as much as Peter and MJ love each other, could have been put a lot better than they did, but it's a solid root to build on.

Huh you know, after reading those posts I expected it to have a non-existent ending like the first arc but yeah it was just flat out bad. A shame, but I guess I shouldn't have been surprised since Doom is, from an editorial standpoint, incapable of changing, as we saw with the Bendis book. I also didn't realize that was the final issue so maybe Chris had to wrap things up in a hurry Here's hoping his Iron Man doesn't suffer the same problems

As we were just discussing on the discord to my mind they are two separate but interlinked ideas, the allegory for the aids crisis, and using the radioactive jizz as a vehicle to discuss that topic. Saying you'd go with another idea in how you approach that topic that is an implicit acceptance that the current idea for the vehicle is bad. Of course, as I was joking in the discord, I would have gone for something completely indefensible as the opening joke like Carol getting impregnated by her future son. That's a bad idea all around lol

If it had just been his sweat or his saliva or hell, just laying in bed next to her for decades I don't think the metaphor would've suffered any, and people would not be saying "radioactive spider-jizz" for decades on end.

Wow, I thought everybody was overexaggerating Doom but I just finished it and that suuuucked. Although I did get a small kick out of the straw that broke the camel's back and sent Doom over the edge into fully evil is someone calling his armor stupid. It's such a petty thing.

I can't believe that there is this much debate about Spider-Man: Reign of all things. It was a book that was written by someone after they read The Dark Knight Returns and said "I want to do that, but with Spider-Man." It's not awful, but it's a story that isn't good enough to rise above what it is copying. It's like arguing over the artistic merits of A Scary Movie.

I like it pretty well overall, but the stuff with Kindred feels like it has been going on forever. I think the funny bits of the run are great, but the serious stuff just doesn't land often enough. Any run that needs 50 issues to tell you something is pretty suspect in my opinion these days, and then Kindred is just bad on top of that. I would definitely recommend his Superior Foes run if you are liking this though!

I was surprised that the reading guide at the end of each issue indicated that the event was ending in December after KiB 2 but it turns out they just didn't include January, February, or...possibly later, I don't know.
