Huh, they actually produced a commercial trailer that accurately reflected the film, I'm impressed with their honesty.

I'd be more surprised than by anything else in my entire life if it turned out the IDF wasn't doing that for my entire lifetime (34 years and change).

It's funny how you can have something fun like Thor: Ragnarok then you get so much army-funded tripe when it comes to superhero movies.

Movie studios trying to ground superheroes with the modern world is a big loving mistake.

Superheroes should be fighting warlords on Mars or robot armies from another timeline.

Trying to make something of political commentary falls on its face because it's either a wank of military pride or flies over everyone's heads as they see the lasers and slo-mo punches.

That, and if the superheroes showed up to save humanity and were serious about it, the absolute first thing they would do is destroy the United States and almost everyone in it, if they don't start with the banks' boards or liberating and supplying the banks' slave armies with munitions for revolt.

Wonder Woman has a subplot about an Arab prince wishing for his ancestral land back, which when granted goes horrible wrong and puts the world on the path to world war. Also a giant wall immediately gets put around the land which cuts off the local population from water. Weird plot choice.

eh, the antagonist is basically if Donald Trump weaponized The Secret. The surface message is a liberal mocking of people who are too into the American dream, when good leaders with wealth and power are self-sacrificing. Biden is going to get us back to normal after those horrible Trump years.

the movie is full of weird plot choices that make it feel like the film had wild changes during production, like she was supposed to have given up her powers to be able to hang out with steve trevor again but most of the action in the movie is when she's not powered but it's no different from when she is, it just comes out as a couple of weird gags

don't get me wrong, chris pine is genuinely funny and there's some real charm in there, but it's so weird and disjointed

US comics on average kind of suck, but most of them always sucked. The bigger issue is that they are way too expensive. A streaming subscription costs as much as buying three issues a month, or one collected trade. Decades ago US comics used to be some of the cheapest media in the market, now its some of the most expensive.

In Wonder Woman 84, the protagonists meet up with a guy whose family is Maya and is in possession of an ancient Maya codice that explains the McGuffin. An Indian actor plays the part-Mayan character, which probably isn't great.

I'm more concerned about characters in exposition saying that the Maya were destroyed, when at the time the movie is set a genocide was being carried out against Mayan people in Central America. Most of the movie is set in DC too, so the locations are theoretically places war criminals like Elliott Abrams and Ollie North walked by everyday.

i would be shocked if anyone involved in the movies production even knew that the maya were still around

Alien Resurrection is so goddamn bad and I think the worst parts are what is clearly his script, and the proto- Firefly cast is mostly meh.

The 90s was over all a bad time for horror movies especially for horror franchises

The original Scream owns because it was a seasoned director mocking the genre he loved. Pity no one else in the industry got the joke.

The best comedy payoff in horror is Motel Hell. The whole movie is 1.5 hours of gonzo setup for one gloriously stupid punchline.

so in wonder woman 84 the character of barbara wishes to be like diana and gets all her powers and stuff right. before this, some dude attempts to rape her in the park and wonder woman just kinda knocks him over and they leave. later, once she has the powers, the guy tries it again and she kicks the loving poo poo out of him. and the movie makes this seem like its her dark turn. i gotta question why the movie that was sold as female empowerment is telling us that injuring an attempted rapist is a bad thing

also the movie is a giant steaming pile of poo poo lol
