I’m a bit of a broken record in this thread because I say it constantly but PokerstarsVR is the best social experience I’ve had in VR. The feeling of sitting at a poker table and shooting the poo poo like you would at a home game or something is amazing, especially in 2020

Render Resolution in SteamVR Settings. I suggest forcing it to 100% globally, and then editing it game-by-game to be higher or lower as needed, which can be done in the Video menu.

Some games also have a render resolution setting in-game, so you can do that as well.

This is not mathematically correct. Taking a card doesn't make it more or less likely the next card is lower. You don't know if the next two cards are a 10 and a 4 or a 4 and a 10 or anything else.

If the table is really positive then you might be worsening the odds slightly by hitting (but you're helping the table if it's negative), but you need to be counting real deep on a 6 deck shoe and if you are you're not dumb enough to say "you likely caused the table to lose".

Here is the math to prove it:

Nope, I bought a bunch of Black Friday deals while waiting for the headset to come in. Just make sure it’s on the account you will be using for the headset.

Craps is the poo poo and would be real fun to play with actual dice interactions and tossing. Everybody else can chat while the shooter is throwing and you can all cheer together when you hit big or all feel the same lows when you crap out.

To add to this, Squadrons is one of the games with an in-game setting - it's called Resolution Scale in game. Try bumping it up to 130 or 150 to see how it goes. The difference in visual quality can be staggering.

Also be careful to only supersample once. If you take Shine's advice of setting the 100% value in Steam globally then this is less of a risk but there have been plenty of occasions where poor VR performance was due to someone having Steam and in-game supersampling set up, which hammered their GPU.

Audica good. It’s like light gun elite beat agents/osu. Not updated as often as beatsaber but they added official custom support recently and people are working on stuff and I think there’s a tool that converts osu maps, but I imagine all of those are trash in this game. The better maps can have really nice flow, feels nice and dancey.

I really like it! Only stopped playing it as much because I hit a bit of a skill plateau a little way into the expert campaign and got annoyed. It's more of a "game" than beat saber, uses the brain cells a bit more, and it feels much dancier to play when you get up into the higher difficulties.

That was a nice distraction.
One of the things I liked about Forza back when I played was the ability to take a pretty basic Nissan whatever, or whichever sedan I liked, and take it on a decent variety of tracks.
Are there any VR games that let me drive some closer to ordinary cars? I did get CARS 2 + 3 as part of a bundle somehow a while back but they're really not doing it for me at all.

I'm not really looking for ultra-realism, just maybe a VR racer that's less formula one racing and the like.

Assetto Corsa is on sale for like $6 on humble right now and it has a huge modding community that probably has most of what you want but I dont think there is much on the PC side that does the whole “upgrade your normal grocery getter into a track monster” thing that Forza and Gran Turismo do.

PCars isn't really formula one racing, you can do normal sports cars. If that doesn't do it for you, I'd try one of the many cool Mario Kart style VR games instead.

Especially 3 is meant to be more arcadey than 1/2 were. You do mean PCars 2 + 3 right?

It totally has like, a Honda Civic in it.

If you don't like PCars you're not gonna like AC. Its just the same thing but more accurate / more fiddly. He wants to move in the other direction.

Unfortunately what we need is a VR Need for Speed Underground but it doesn't really exist.

Having never owned a VR headset before, is it normal for the 'sweet spot' to be quite small? I'm on the correct IPD (my measured IPD is just below 63mm, headset is on setting two), the lenses are clean, and the centre is in good focus, but I'm getting a lot of god rays at points of high contrast (such as the text in the oculus store) for anything off-centre, and the CA as you approach the corners is terrible.

It's not really noticeable in games but it's pretty annoying for other content.

I would say (coming from a laptop gaming perspective) if your 3D graphics outputs to TB the issue will be any adaptor you need to use, not the port itself. (im awaiting on a full HBR3/8k-rated adaptor to run the G2)

Also Dirt Rally 2 is amazing in VR and everyone with even a passing interest in car games/sims should get it

Double post but I finally got to set my Quest 2 up last night and I love it! One thing though, it seems to have one single pixel stuck on white.

The thing is so pixel dense that it’s impossible to see unless the screen is totally black (so loading screens mostly) and it’s only visible in the right eye. It’s nearly imperceptible and totally imperceptible if anything is happening on screen that isn’t total blackness.

Is oculus doing anything about dead pixels? I’m not even sure yet if I want to do anything, just weighing my options.

I think my wife got it at Walmart, so ultimately that may be my best recourse if I decide to do anything.

Yeah, you can return it BUT some LCDs will show a white pixel on black ONLY and those usually come unstuck. I don't know if there is a pixel unstuck app for the Q2 but it might be something you can fix.

I had a monitor that did that years back (stuck pixel but ONLY on black) and I was able to fix it.

Might be worth a try before returning it. But if you can't get it I'd swap it out.

There's a sweet spot but the Q2 is reasonably generous. Do you wear glasses or anything? Are you using the included cloth strap? My guess is you might not have the headset on right try loosening the strap quite a bit and hold the headset on your face manually and kinda adjust it around to see if you can find a good fit, then set the strap.
