The cp issue is one of the big things that breaks btc. With normal money that exists, each dollar is its own object and you don't inherit the legacy of everything that dollar has been used for. A dollar is just a dollar. Btc has child porn in its history and in order to use it you have to be okay with that.

Have any of you fools considered that bitcoin is worth more money today? Also China Railway Group Limited (CRWOF) is currently up eleven thousand percent today. Other things are up only some percent. But China Railway Group Limited is up more percent. That means whatever it is will revolutionize the world and being worth more money proves it is better than everything else. Amazon is only up 3.5% today. China Railway Group Limited is up 3000 times more better. Rectal Death Adept fucked around with this message at 22:11 on Dec 28, 2020 |

Decades from now libertarians will still be penning screeds about how they're going to use Bitcoin on their seastead and one day the rest of us will bow and scrape before them when our FIAT money system collapses exactly as they prophesied, just you wait. This will definitely be true unless there is actually a use case for any cryptocurrency at some point. Bitcoin is propped up by nothing but name recognition in a market of thousands of useless cryptocurrencies. It was the first, and it is "The Cryptocurrency." Anyone looking to get into cryptocurrency hears "Bitcoin" first and foremost. It's name has become synonymous with cryptocurrency. That's why it doesn't matter that almost every coin made after Bitcoin is objectively better at everything it tries to do. If somehow, at some point, Shitcoin X (SHTX) magically is useful and actually has a point to where people are trading it for a purpose then bitcoin would be immediately irrelevant and the cryptocurrency "market" would be dominated by whatever people were actually trading. Then SHTX would be "The Cryptocurrency" and bitcoin would be a dwindling forgotten relic traded by idiot true believers that can't handle the fact their currency was never actually worth anything other than the brand it carried. Seriously. If a real company or bank ever created their own crypto bitcoin would be over with. Despite the pedophiles and internet intellectuals that think they would just adopt Bitcoin for some reason. Amazon would just make BezoBucks that you can earn by using amazon devices and spend on their services. They aren't going to put up with their customers waiting days for a $50 transaction to maybe go through on the pedophile's currency of choice they have no control over.

Facebook wants to do this, but their first attempt was done in a really horribly stupid way and regulators were like "lol no" It's not a maybe that some sort of digital money will become popular, but it's not going to be bitcoin for many reasons, the biggest of which is Satoshi can come back at any moment and annihilate the market into dust by selling a million+ btc in one shot. As the years have gone by, the number of people who could "annihilate the market into dust" has grown larger and larger, and there are now dozens of people who could dump five digits literally this second if they wanted. They won't because it will destroy the confidence scam, but that's no way for a currency to operate. If you wanted to compare it to actual forex trading, imagine Jeff Bezos turns on his laptop and decides to instantly sell 400 trillion USD. This is what Satoshi is able to do to bitcoin, right now. He is not the only one who can gently caress the system to death in an instant in this way. edit: there were a few big hodlers that did threaten to do this back when they were fighting over fork drama, I know Roger Ver and Jihan Wu were two, but ultimately they did not. There are a few scummo capitalist firms like SkyBridge using the crazy euphoria in the markets rn to try to fleece retail investors into getting into btc the same way they try to fleece anyone into buying any finance product they can. Bitcoin is basically being treated like a techbro stock Scaramucci in particular has been using his position at CNN to make a lot of noise about btc, he founded SkyBridge, it's kind of identical to how Ron Paul would argue for the gold standard because he was heavily invested in gold

It has always been overpaid computer janitors that have four figures of disposable income, per month, to throw around. That unique composition of stupidity and falling rear end backwards into six figure salaries has been the primary driver behind most of bitcoins actual involved money. Not fake stuff like market manipulations on Mt.Gox or tether printing or whatever. I'd bet that a bunch of Tesla stock profits, since it's up 700% this year, have been plowed into bitcoin by the type of person that thinks both of those things are good ideas and got lucky.

This conspiracy revolves around th eidea there is no real demand for Bitcoin, it's all just tether and bitfinex making up money and pumping it. Some people believe that if tether were to collapse, for some reason bitcoin would too. This conspiracy stems from the fallacious idea there is no real demand for Bitcoin, it's all just tether and Bitfinex making up money and pumping it. This is obviously absurd on its face, there is a ton of bitcoin demand, and were tether to fail people (who formerly held tether) would run TO bitcoin, not away from it.
