Not sure what your goal is with the LED strip but if you're looking for bias lighting you might try sticking it on the backside of your main monitor instead of the desk - that's going to get you more even distribution anyway which will result in less eyestrain overall.

Yeah it's max height is a little low for typing out of the box and I won't lie about it.

it's fine with a little keyboard stand or risers under the feet though.

This is what I have so far. I'm interested in getting a huuuuuge mousepad but first I want to get a monitor arm to clamp to my desk and give me room under my monitor to put my laptop (which is usually in front of my mousepad). I know the usual recommendation is the Amazon Basics one but there seem to be a never ending supply of random brands like this one that all seem identical and usually have a ton of reviews. Is the Amazon one really going to be worth that much more? Are you paying for the warranty, QC, etc? Does anyone have experience with one of these, or maybe the Monoprice one that's $50?

I'm a goony computer toucher and have been spending the majority of my waking hours in front of a screen for the past 20 years for both work and recreation. I've invested in a sit/stand desk and my employer let me borrow the Steelcase Amia I was using in the office when they sent us all to 100% WFH.

My posture has improved greatly between the chair and alternating between sitting and standing multiple times through the day, but I'm still extremely sedentary and have never been particularly motivated to stick with an exercise regimen. Anyone have any experience with a treadmill desk setup?

The chair actually sits at lowest height for me to be able to use the keyboard try, the problem was that at *any* height there was nothing for my arms to rest on when my keyboard was on my desk top. Chair being low is fine for me at 5'11, may be a challenge for a taller person. Being able to recline at-will makes for changing leg positions to get comfortable super easy.

Keyboard tray is just a simple amazon purchase, and I used a blue IKEA cabinet panel left over from my kitchen remodel. The whole walnut-side of the desk is just kitchen scraps with old legs, lol.

Hah, we are the same height!

Our local Ekornes showroom has plenty of models in stock, and at one point ~9 years ago I wanted Stressless recliners for my living room. The price, however, is not attractive (lol). Maybe I'll take a look around in person and see if something will work out.

I'm currently using a HON task chair which retails for about $400, so it's not a piece of crap or anything, but feels "odd" to play controller-based games in.

Treadmill desks make me very nervous cause I’ve heard bad things about the strain it puts on your shoulders/arms doing extra work stabilizing themselves enough to type or click on stuff accurately while walking. Probably great if you spend more time reading things or on calls though

Also do people have recommendations for keyboard wrist wrests that aren’t the garbo $12 Kensington ones? Mine is slowly ripping open on the front seem and the foam is exploding out like a tube of biscuits. If there’s like a red bubbleesque place with lots of different designs that would be great

It’s dumber than dogshit, and you’re likelier to hurt yourself than you are to make a meaningful dent in your health.

If you wanna walk, budget in an hour every afternoon after lunch, make sure you’ve got some nice headphones and a good podcast/audiobook/playlist cued up, and go for a walk outside. Get a friend or partner to join you if you need encouragement. Or do a different exercise elsewhere in your home.

If you insist on spending ~$500 on equipment, get a rowing machine before you get anything else, and just commit to using it for an hour while you watch TV or listen to something. Desk-peripheral exercise equipment are all 100% scams, every one of them. Either do the real thing or don’t bother.

Because they're hard plastic tiles and a bitch to cut clean... and even if I did clean cut them they would have a hollow end that stuck out. I just preferred to end it and cap it.

I'm looking at joining the Standing Desk crew. I was eyeing the Husky desks but I am 6'5" and think I'm a touch outside of it's max height.

To throw another brand into the mix, I saw an ad for Autonomous.ai and their SmartDesk 2. 2 Sizes of 53" and 70.5", and the starting price is $379 which seems rather good for the size comparing to Amazon and other Ikea and other brands. Anyone gotten one from them and can comment? Looks like its no frills unless you add your own things like a cable management rack for $25 and such, but overall the only thing suspect is their hundreds/thousands of suspect 5 star reviews.

uplift seems fine. i use a fully which has an extended range option that should work for you; might want to see if uplift has a similar option to make sure it doesn't top out too low

I bought the 70" dual motor desk in 2016 and it has been great. Never had to contact their customer service so can't comment on that.

I bought the single motor desk from them. It’s been trouble free, but I wish I had gone with the double. The extra height range is worth it.

I bought the 53” single-motor in 2016 and I absolutely love it. Spent the next year evangelizing the standing desk to anyone that would listen. That said, my delight was about the actual use of it, not that brand in particular.

I’ve never used their customer service but the desk itself has been rock solid for me. Only complaint is that I kinda wish I went with the 70”.

I’ve never used the husky but I have to say that the bottom crossbeam would likely bother me. I am a close-sitter when I do sit, and when I’m standing I have an ottoman that I slide around under there that I sometimes put a foot up on, or the cats use as a perch, and the bar would definitely get in the way of things.

It is quite Spartan in terms of features. I don’t know what other brands come with out of the box, but it’s just the tabletop legs and hardware. I bought an ikea rack that I drilled in for wires, and I use a janky bottom-strapped power strip for power.

It gets a tiny bit wobbly if you raise it all the way up, but only a little. However I’m short so that hasn’t proven to be much of an issue for me.

I bought one of their "version 1" frames as a black friday sale and topped with a Husky bench and have no regrets. Was wary of some bad reviews, but a lot of them mentioned a short warranty and this came with, I believe, a 7 year warranty so I pulled the trigger. All I can assume is they've made improvements after being hammered by bad reviews, or I got a good specimen. It is also very steady in my opinion at standing height, another thing bad reviews seemed to knock so IDK.

Edit: Standing Desk Frame Premium. I went with that over the regular version because it has a couple inches lower range and my chair feels too short without a keyboard tray

I had an Amazon seller style one, and after two times where I had simple issues and it took their support like 5 days to get back to me to solve my issue ( like one where there was a 10 degree incline from one side to the other ) I rage quit and went all in on the uplift, with two side tables for pc tower and printer and went nuts on wire management.

I’m very happy with my choice. It’s little things about how it’s put together, and designed. Even though it has the same dna as the other standing desks but refined. I got the C style commercial version with rolly wheels. Good instructions and works like a champ.

I have the dual-motor DIY frame under the top from my old flat pack desk and it works great. It moves without struggling under a full desktop, three monitors, a UPS, a subwoofer, and whatever other crap I have on my desk. They say it's rated to lift 300 lbs, when I first put it together I hopped my 215 lb rear end on the desk and rode it up to full height with no issues. It definitely took longer to do that than with a normal load, but....duh.

Belated and semi-related, but I'm 6'6" and the Fully with extended range is good. I think the normal height one would just about work as well, unless you want to use a mat or what have you to stand on.
